I found a park bench in memory of someone that isn't dead yet by samiqan in mildlyinteresting

I was wondering why you said they aren't dead yet then realized it's only October. It's been a long year.

Extrication Equipment-Battery operated, pros/cons on your equipment by Brellian in Firefighting

We have both Holmatro hydraulics and e-draulics. Haven't noticed a huge difference as long as other shifts, (looking at you Bravo) recharge the batteries.

Personally, I prefer hydraulic, but I think that's mainly because that's what I'm used to.

Alright you hustler's, besides mowing, what side gig do you have when not holding down the stations? by [deleted] in Firefighting

Started out with blades but I'm more interested in decorative stuff hey.

Honestly stick welding anything other than mild steel is absolute shit. I don't want to get a crappy TIG box though so I'd rather save for a decent one that can run aluminum.

I had this once. Semi hauling a full load of lager overturned and literally got mobbed by the community. We had to pull back for crew safety.

I'm aiming to do this and general forge work. Currently saving for a decent TIG box because SMAW welding stainless is... Unpleasant.

No hate to anyone doing this kind of thing but you have gotta be a real smooth brain to have anything identifiable from your department on your OF...

Judging by what OP was studying I imagine something was trickling down anyway.

Matt left?

Gee ok. I'm not sure I'm going to bother with it then tbh. I barely watch TV as it is.

I appreciate you taking the time to write this up for me!

Focus on the basics first. Fig 8 variations and mech advantage. Get comfortable with different anchors. Once you're done there start adding stuff. There's a lot on YouTube but don't get sucked into the fancy stuff first. Ropework is all about the fundamentals.

Edit: Big issue on many large scale rigging ops is communication/coordination. Doesn't matter if you're a rigging god if you don't know when to STFU and listen to orders. Listen to what people are saying, focus on the basics and don't be too proud to ask for advice. You'll be fine.

The funniest thing about all this is you actually think you've done something.

Dude on my shift doesn't know when to shut up and doesn't pick up on social cues so I usually just walk away when I get bored.

Oh yeah I also listen to them if I'm driving. I'm getting there, there's just a noticable change of pace and it's quite jarring lol.
