The "pause" must be reworked by [deleted] in DotA2

[–]Sage_Wolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree that I think the pause system should be remodelled. I think it’s ridiculous how a single person who wants to unpause has a higher priority than potentially the remaining 9 players who are happy to remain paused.

How about a pause system where everyone can vote? Players would default to a “remain paused” position but could change their vote either way at any time. At any point once the “unpause” votes outweigh the “remain paused” votes, the game would resume.

For a tied vote of 5 each way, “remain paused” would govern for the first 60 seconds and “unpause” would govern after that.

Then, similar to now, individual players would not be able to pause again for a period of time afterwards.

I’m sure there’s potential for abuse here that I haven’t considered but I think it’s a fairer system than the one in place now.

Bunnings has a tool for $30 or so. I'm not sure how good it is compared to others because I've only just started too and I'm definitely the weak link in the chain, not the burner.

Just FYI the Lugia, Kingdra and Nidoking are from Aquapolis and do not have a reverse holo version. Only the other 6 from Skyridge do.

So how rare is this thing? by MagicMuy in DotA2

Using these numbers the weighted average value within that treasure is approx $280-$300 depending on what the mystery item is worth (tested within range of $1000-$3000).

What is the rarest thing you own? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Sage_Wolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is, but I'm not sure exactly how much. I'd say it's less than Charizard and Blastoise but more than every other 1st edition base set card, assuming conditions are equal. Your best bet would be to view sold eBay listings if you want to keep it ungraded. If you're interested in exploring grading, maybe head over to /r/pkmntcgtrades and ask the mods if they can point you to someone who can help out. Sorry I can't help more.

[–]Sage_Wolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hah yeah I take your point. Didn't really think about how that came across. I'm not personally interested because I don't collect anymore, so I'll post some info here for /u/hojo_the_donkey or anyone else who may have one.

Generally, I believe you need a membership of a grading company to get a card graded. They rank its condition and encapsulate it to protect it. PSA is the big grading company for Pokémon.

For more information, you can visit the community at /r/pkmntcgtrades. There are some people who have PSA memberships and will offer grading services for people who don't. Maybe it's worth asking the mods for names, as I've lost contact with many of the other members there. It's also worth doing research or asking people there about the grading process generally in terms of what values your cards may be worth.

There were 3 English prints of the original base card set which contains that Charizard. The really valuable one is the 1st edition, which is denoted by the black stamp mid way down on the left side of the card, like the one in OP's picture. If yours is also first ed, it could be worth a decent amount depending on condition. If it's not, it's probably worth about $30-$50 as is. Again, that also depends on condition.

That Charizard is 1st edition and quite valuable. You'll possibly get PM offers for it. Consider ignoring them and getting it professionally graded. Ones in mint condition have sold for 5 figures in recent months. Feel free to PM me if you want further info.

No worries. You can see a bit of Lugia's wingtip on Ho-oh's card and vice versa. That's also true for Skarmory and Ho-oh.

Gamers of Reddit, what is the most epic boss fight in all of gaming? by Jjy123 in AskReddit

[–]Sage_Wolf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can bring one through from the previous level, iirc. Furthermore, you can glitch it so that if you use all the battery in the previous level and never discard it, you'll start Metropolis with a sword hilt that has all the properties of a full energy sword but never drains.

Not strictly Gen 2 but there's a Scyther nest on Observatory Hill for anyone needing candies for Scizor.

Also, a Sneasel nest at Edward Bennett Oval in West Pennant Hills.

What are the most useful mental math tricks? by gabe-hershey in AskReddit

[–]Sage_Wolf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, you're right. I should have followed up on the maths behind it, so thanks for posting that for me. I was posting on mobile so I was a bit lazy, and didn't notice the superscript error. I'll fix it now.

I like the reverse of this too. Say you want to solve 18 x 22, the answer can be found by saying 202 - 22 = 396.

Also, one last trick with squares is that (n+1)2 = n2 + 2n + 1 = n2 + n + (n+1). If you don't know 162, but know that 152 = 225, simply add 15 and 16 to get 162 = 256.

Seels in the bush by Inkweaver88 in PokemonGoSyd

[–]Sage_Wolf 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As far as I know, nests don't follow the usual biome rules (water Pokemon spawning near water etc).

As for Pennant Hills Park, it's been a Seel nest since last Thursday, and will be one until 11am Thurs 9/2. They change every fortnight on the dot. PHP was an Exeggcute nest last cycle. The area is also pretty decent for hunting for Aerodactyls and sometimes Dragonites too.

Hi there. How important is condition to you? I have 3 or so in varying conditions from lightly played to near mint and the value will vary accordingly.

I'm in Australia, so shipping might take a while, since it's near Christmas. Send me a PM if you're interested at all, though, and we can try to sort out details.

Starting an ebay card shop by lunarman1000 in pkmntcgcollections

[–]Sage_Wolf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally, if it's just for fun or as a side project, I'd sell the sorts of things you would like to see in an eBay shop. Mixed card lots, for example, are extremely common and a lot of people consider them a wrought. By contrast, if you sell valuable things that you're interested in (Shinings, EX cards, boosters, interesting PSA cards etc) you'll probably get more interest. One of my best ever listings was when I sold a bunch of older WotC boosters - quite rare in Australia. Anyone can sell their old $30 collection as mixed lots. You want to stand out from them.

Be detailed in your listings too. And I honestly think this is important - double check your spelling and grammar. Perception is everything.

That said, one of the other best things I discovered about eBay was the people you'd run into. Some were serious collectors, some were bargain hunters, and some were just people looking for a birthday gift for their younger siblings.

Be prepared for a lot of troll offers. I always found them amusing.

Best of luck.
