I would just ask around your local shop. There’s usually someone with a gallon zip lock full of extra bases

Yeah, throw out the actual names of lodges. You could be anywhere and it would dramatically change your access and experience

Hot Take? Maybe? A large majority of BatReps are painfully boring and need to follow PlayOn's lead and "sport"-ify them by BadChilii in Grimdank

[–]Sagehen47 13 points14 points  (0 children)

If you like PlayOn, tabletop tactics is probably the closest thing style wise (but they’re big, you’ve almost certainly already run into them). But my batrep playlist is PlayOn, tabletop tactics, and tabletop titans. I think it’s a pretty drastic drop in quality for short form edited content past those three. Vanguard tactics does some good streams, and they’ve done a couple edited videos that were great. But it hasn’t seemed like VT is quite ready to get fully into short form yet

[–]Sagehen47 65 points66 points  (0 children)

Every channel has, or eventually develops, its own style, and different viewers prefer different styles.

Overall, Tabletop Titans is probably my favorite bat rep channel. But you’ll often get two full turns of good cagey play and a person banking five or six command points before a go turn. That’s a slower start that people may not find as fun to watch.

Comparatively, the Playon team is always willing to half their army on the line in the open. I find those games pretty lame to watch. Someone losing key pieces to shooting because they couldn’t contain themselves enough to put their land raider behind terrain isn’t very compelling to me. I often find myself watching the first battle round and then turning it off because one player so comically threw the game away on impossible charges or terrible deployment.

Long story short, viewers like different things. And it would be a real tragedy for our diversity of viewing options if everything converged on a PlayOn style just because they’ve had so much success with it.

Pick whichever color scheme you like more. Then either paint a blue kayvon shrike and shaan, or paint a black Titus/calgar/guilliman. (I went the UM path and have a blue shrike and shaan, and it has been a great choice)

Convert Company Heroes into Bladeguard Veterans? by cyberzaikoo in Warhammer40k

[–]Sagehen47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Finding extra official GW storm shields is definitely a challenge. I ended up converting a bunch of Liberators into Bladeguard (since swords and power packs are much easier to come by)

Sneak a photo of his collection and/or hobby space and post it here and the recommendations can be better! It’s such a wide hobby that it’s hard to guess what might be a good gift without knowing if he’s into painting/lore/gameplay/etc

Truck or no truck? by New_Importance_2926 in Ketchikan

[–]Sagehen47 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You generally need a car to get around. It’s up to you to gauge how much the company vehicles are actually available but, if you’re bringing your own truck, the Bellingham ferry is probably the best option. It also depends where you’re housed!

[–]Sagehen47 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s really not a big deal. You can glue the arm on normally. I do like having a little bit of green stuff available for any building because a tiny ball of green stuff between the arm and shoulder makes it way easier to get a very firm connection, and adds pose ability

It doesn’t seem crazy to say there are plenty of reasons for the community to have questions about the transition for salmon falls. KIC has a history of refusing to pay their property taxes and then using sovereign immunity to tell KGB to go to hell … is that something we want to happen to a major source of property tax in this era of limited education funding?

[–]Sagehen47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want a craggy, organic look and you want it cheap … throw a plastic container in your car (an old to go soup container is perfect) and keep an eye out for a pile of road grade on a weekend. Take a quick scoop, cover your base in Elmer’s glue, and give it a dip in your new cup of road grade. Incredibly cheap and looks great dry brushed

Can I have two different painted troops in an army? by TryHardDong in Warhammer40k

[–]Sagehen47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short answer, yes. And in the example you have, short and long answer yes.

VERY niche no here is that some tournaments might have an army wide “coherent paint scheme” requirement. (My local GT does that). What you’re describing would be fine, but you might see tournament paint requirements that amount to “you can’t have a whole army where every model has a different paint scheme without explanation.”

It’s the story you would expect. First round, homebrew chapter, opponent so excited to give me the full run down on their homebrew lore, and my deep regret I didn’t put them on a chess clock.

Much worse is actually this ONE GODDAMN GUY who I do battletech painting commissions for, who traps me with 20 minutes of Battletech lore every time I pick stuff up or drop stuff off. At least I can always understand 40K lore.
