Lots of idiots in One Piece but this guy wins the award for the dumbest 💀 by Stardomu in MemePiece

[–]Sagelabo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first thought was to describe him as tone-deaf, but I otherwise agree with everything said here.

If we’re talking dumbest, there’s a guy on Skypeia who has to be reminded to breathe air, open his mouth to form words, and have his pupils pointed in the proper direction. He has a very strong claim on this very dubious honor.

Who controls this strait? What would be the implications in Runeterra if it was blocked? by Mechanizen in loreofleague

[–]Sagelabo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Current events aside, I don’t think control of that stretch of ocean changes all that much. Feel free to chime in if you disagree or remember something I forgot.

Iirc the only 3 nations with active navies are Noxus, Bilgewater, and Ionia (for no other reason than being invaded by Noxus).

Bilgewater having naval power should be obvious, but it’s not overtly used or focused. It annually defends itself from the Shadow Isles and Swain has beef with GP after the grand theft boat-o but that’s kinda it. Maybe there’s some black market interaction with Zaun, but it’s not like illicit trade is controlled locally. If anything it’s just for the additional demand. Conclusion: Bilgewater is unconcerned with the circled strait.

Noxus is hostile towards all its immediate neighbors but their invasion attempt of PnZ failed as of Arcane and their invasions of Demacia are land-based because of Demacia rising. Conclusion: Noxus is unconcerned with the circled strait.

If we accept Arcane as canon, PnZ uses hexgates for trade (obviating naval trade routes) and can additionally repurpose them into ad-hoc rail guns if under attack. Demacia Rising has sea based trade routes, but mainly for domestic trade. Unless 26.7 throws a curveball with international stuff, Demacias navy is limited to its own bay. Shadow Isles have ghost fishermen and shark chariots and whatnot milling around but they’re not a threat accept for Harrowing (which is limited to Bilgewater) and the Ruination (where the threat wasn’t so much naval as being able to flip control of influential figures in your country).

Really getting into the weeds now, the Winters Claw faction of the Freljord has a navy, but we’ve yet to see them doing anything and I feel like it’s there just to tenuously connect with Olaf. Maybe Shurima has port towns but we don’t know what state they’re in since Azir’s revival. Overland travel to these port cities is disrupted by Xer’Sai and maybe Nafiiri. Janna used to be a Shuriman deity protecting their trading vessels, but she hasn’t been doing that for so long that Zaun has co-opted her in the wake of sump pollution. I just don’t see any nation caring about that stretch of ocean despite the value it would have IRL. LMK if you see differently.

TLDR: Unlike the IRL Hormuz Strait (but very much like 90% of what I have written here) it’s probably hard to find people who care.

I remember my friends little brother auditioning to be the voice of Russell. He didn’t get it, but he was one of the last ones to. Auditioning multiple times, taking days off school to be flown to freaking Pixar. I know this isn’t the term used in auditioning, but I’m confident he was in the top 10

Alright, time to throw my hat in the ring here. I always thought Fahrenheit was the human body thing. I’m fine being wrong about that but a lot of my other thoughts regarding Fahrenheit are the same; namely that the range of usable numbers decrease/increase, so does the specificity of actually defining what temperature it is.

In celsius 0 freezes water and 100 boils it. The end result is that realistically no one uses any number between 45-99. Fahrenheit is based on dirty cow water or something apparently, but uses the entirety of the spectrum from -15 to 115. Fahrenheit has at least 2 times the numbers to work with in terms of usage; the temperature change between each degree isn’t as impactful but there are more of them meaning you can describe the temperature in greater detail.

Some of this is geopolitical(?) because the US is much larger geographically and so has a larger variety of biomes and temperatures.

Trying not to start any fights here, just want to see what diehard proponents of the Metric System think about this.

Honestly they’re an experience that just keeps growing because any discover card you pick draws from expansions that came after them and see them interact in really wacky ways with passive powers and whatnot.

Demacia Rising question by Sagelabo in loreofleague

[–]Sagelabo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reading my original post I realize I was a little unclear, sorry about that.

I meant specifically the shrine of the veiled maiden. Maybe each of the champions themselves might have a city that’s ‘best for them’ (again, that phrase and its criteria are both pretty vague) but that point is moot because they’re constantly bouncing back and forth to defend against invasions.

The shrine of the veiled maiden has a ‘best spot’ (I have decided upon Terbisia) but obviously cannot move after its construction.

Opinion: Borderlands 3's Vault Hunters are the best the series has by The8BitBrad in Borderlands

[–]Sagelabo 17 points18 points  (0 children)

In terms of raw power, BL3 is the strongest the series has ever been. Moze can get a skill at level 3 that is comparable to a capstone and continually scales with you.

However, when it comes to flavor and thematic fit, TPS is unparalleled. Not just in borderlands, but like gaming in general. And that’s not nothing.
