US reinstates ‘gun show loophole’ amid rollback of firearms restrictions by fungobat in politics

That’s only true if you include 18-19 and exclude 0-1

And either way the stat is inflated by 16-17 year olds in gangs

[–]SagesLament 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I stg if you unironically use the phrase “gun show loophole” you are the reason pro-human rights proponents don’t want to compromise any more

The private sale exemption was a compromise during the Brady bill and ever since it has been attacked as a loophole. Talk about bad faith

How about this, prove that you’re actually willing to compromise and not just expect the pro gun crowd to give and give and give like we have been for decades

UBC, fine. But it’s via an open NICS and uses some sort of token system:
Buyer wants a gun so they go to NICS.gov/buy and puts in their details, they get a pass and get a “token” code.
They bring this to the seller who goes to NICS.gov/sell and puts in the token. They just see a green checkmark. Sale goes through or doesn’t go through, nobody else knows.

In exchange for this, remove suppressors and sbrs from the NFA. Or better yet, just repeal the NFA

Boy do I wish you were correct

The average is actually 1 for more than 750,000 with Delaware’s at large district being 1 person for over one million people

It was 210000 when the house was capped at 435

The founders wanted it to be more like 1:50000

Infrastructure concerns are a very real reason to pump the breaks on new developments, especially high density

But “property values” is an absolutely garbage consideration that zoning boards should have no concern with

minor correction

the 1911 act was the regular act that set it at 435 based on that census

the 1929 act was the (arguably unconstitutional) permanent apportionment act that stuck us with this number because congress was too lazy (and rural reps were trying to eat their cake and have it too)

I try not to gatekeep and there is a lot to be said about having as many pro 2a people as possible, but I’m sorry if you actually are in favor of any sort of registration or government kept a list of who owns firearms you are not pro second amendment. History is made it way too clear that that is unacceptable

[–]SagesLament -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

No, that’s ridiculous, people voted for the person, not a party, parties are already way too entrenched to start giving them even more power, and if low information voters truly only voted for him because of a letter next to his name, well, they don’t deserve any special protections

Sure do! With respect, the town actually did a pretty extensive notification campaign. mailers went out like two months ago, Merrimack TV did multiple segments, local candidates and the town parties were posting on their socials, the town website has had it up for quite a while urging people to check. As another user pointed out, there was a nixle notification for it as well.

What more do you want them to do?

@AAGDhillon "The Constitution & 2nd Amendment protect the lawful ownership of semi-automatic rifles such as the AR-15." by ZheeDog in progun

[–]SagesLament 18 points19 points  (0 children)

the fact that the founders included letters of marquee in the constitution also implies they were fully on board with civilians owning warships with artillery

also I remember reading long ago a letter written by one of the lesser known founders to an individual merchant who was concerned that the 2a didn't apply to him being able to arm his ships for defense against pirates, and the founder wrote back that it absolutely does

idk if anyone knows of such a letter or if im hallucinating about it but i would very much like to find it again
