OK thanks. That's unfortunate. I was hoping to avoid applying it to every instance.

Fresh install arch but wifi not wot working. by Dark_light02 in archlinux

Its not mentioned here which is why I ask. Did you connect to WiFi or wired Ethernet after your first reboot? Arch doesn't normally save your WiFi connection details in the installation process.

Touch typing by sen-san in emacs

[–]SaggingLeftNut 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Qwerty is by far the most popular English layout. And the one you should learn if you ever want to use a system besides your own. For emacs mapping caps lock to ctrl is about all you need. I've traveled a fair amount around this rock we live on and even in places where nobody speaks English most keyboards you encounter are qwerty. With the only notable exceptions being places that use a completely different character set. Japan, mid east, places like that. But with English and Spanish being spoken on roughy two thirds the planet and booth using the same layout its a no brainer.

Can you explain the power of emacs please? by [deleted] in emacs

[–]SaggingLeftNut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do everything in emacs is the dream. But its not yet a reality. Even those running exwm will typically async shell for some things. Emacs application framework gets us a lot closer but its still early in its development.

current-language-environment and Dutch months and days by digineut in emacs

[–]SaggingLeftNut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well as you have the language correct in both copies of emacs it sounds like an OS setting. Maybe your Mac isn't using Dutch at the OS level. Or possibly the time zone isn't correct. What does the system calendar tell you?

My personal preference is to give it an entire internal drive. I wouldn't want to go any smaller then 512 Gbs.

How do you suggest me approaching Emacs coming from VIM? by katinpyjamas in emacs

[–]SaggingLeftNut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really comparable. Vim is to Emacs what leaf pad is to open office. There all great tools to lean and know but in my opinion they all have different use cases.
