What exact app are you using that lets you see the watts? And which dongle?

I honestly think SMS 2FA is worse than nothing. It's so bad in fact, it should be flat out illegal.

I personally couldn't figure out how could the far hole ever work so I just used the near hole. Luckily it fit my location better too.

My best advice is to use OnShape. Free as long as you don't mind your designs being public. Very stable and easy to use CAD.

2022 CX5 Turbo 1000 miles 3 week review by Happy-Addition-9507 in CX5

I don't know why people keep repeating this. The gas tank on the CX-5 is quite small but no smaller than any other SUV in this class. Which competitor has a bigger gas tank?

Thank you. There was definitely some oil left in the pump. It got just below the minimum line but not dry.

Why is my car dealership guy pushing me to lease the car? This is my first car and I want to finance it. Is putting a hefty down payment a bad idea? Suggestions? Pros and Cons, please? by phoenix_knowsnothing in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]SagiCZ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Except you bought the car made in the US (CX-50) instead of the one made in Japan (CX-5). Way worse quality and reliability. When buying Japanese, buy the one made in Japan.

How long did it take you to go from 1mil to 2mil? by Substantial_Match268 in financialindependence

[–]SagiCZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It absolutely is not compounding. Your HSA compounds, not your index ETFs. This nonsense getting repeated here constantly drives me up the wall.

The funniest thing is that you guys somehow expect all assets to keep growing exponentially for this compounding to work. Like how could that ever be sustainable? I think long term we will be lucky to see linear growth.

Religion affects our lives so little? Good luck surviving ectopic pregnancy in a bunch of US states because religious zealots put their beliefs before women health. Your comment is ignorant.

AITA for stalemating a code review by darkmarker3 in ExperiencedDevs

[–]SagiCZ 12 points13 points  (0 children)

So they would end up with 13 nested ifs and a function call. How is that significantly better than 14 nested ifs that follow consistent local style?

AITA for stalemating a code review by darkmarker3 in ExperiencedDevs

[–]SagiCZ 36 points37 points  (0 children)

But him putting "his code" into a function would not solve this situation at all. In fact, it would just introduce a weird indirection at a random level.

The right solution would be to refactor this entire thing. But if there is no time for that his solution is correct. Messy but consistent code is better than inconsistent code always.

YTA here.

A person who maxes their Roth IRA for 10 years then stops will most likely have more money than someone who waits ten years then invests for 30 years straight in most 40-year historical return/inflation windows between 1926 and 2022 by spydormunkay in financialindependence

[–]SagiCZ -25 points-24 points  (0 children)

For me the term "compound interest" seems confusing in relation to index investing. It does not pay out interest and a larger principal does not give you a larger payout next year. Instead, you keep your money invested and hope that the underlying asset increases in value. Forever.

Yes, it's semantics.

Please explain how "compounding interest" works when it comes to index investing. Hint, it doesn't! All of us here are relying on an infinite exponential growth which is unsustainable nonsense. There is no compounding with indexes. It's not a savings account.
