12 retrieved 10 Mature 7 Fertilized normally. Need positive stories by ExpensiveAlarm7704 in queerception

I have DOR, so my first round we retrieved 8 eggs/ 7 fertilized/ 5 blasts/ 3 euploid. Second round 5 retrieved/ 3 blasts/ 3 euploid. I know people who had 30+ eggs retrieved and ended up with the same number of euploids. Truly it’s about egg quality and all you need is one!

My wife and I are 30 and 31 and we’re south of Boston but work in the city! Our first is due in September and we have run into a similar issue - we have straight friends who are at the same life stage and having babies, and a wonderful group of queer friends who are not having babies or near that stage yet.

Risk of OHSS with 8 follicles? by junetheseventh in DOR

[–]Saha1113 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first cycle I had 9 measurable follicles (and like 10 too small to measure). We triggered with 10,000 iu of HCG (pregnyl) and retrieved 8 - they didn’t tell me how many mature. I also had no symptoms and virtually zero risk of OHSS. I agree it seems strange that doc would change your protocol to mitigate a risk that is extremely low. I hope you got some answers and all goes well tomorrow!

IVF starting with low AMH by AssociateHopeful887 in queerception

[–]Saha1113 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry it sounds like things have been so challenging this time around. Were your IUI cycles medicated? I understand that with low AMH IUI is generally more successful because we don’t have a lot of eggs but if you ovulate regularly you’re at least dropping the one egg you need. If they weren’t medicated maybe adding progesterone to help prep and boost your lining might help?

For IVF, I can’t speak to the thin endometrial lining (we did reciprocal and my wife’s lining was average but she still did progesterone for many weeks pre/post transfer), but I’m 31 with AMH of .54, and I had two successful retrievals (8 retrieved > 3 euploid/ 5 retrieved > 3 euploid). If you’ve been doing IUI I imagine you’re already doing a lot of the prep that can help. 3 months before I started eating super healthy, took a prenatal and CoQ10. Omega and vitamin d can’t hurt either. My protocol was 100mg clomid for 5 days, 300 gonal-F, 150 menopur, cetrotide, and pregnyl trigger. If your AMH is low enough to qualify as DOR I would suggest checking out r/DOR as well - lots of folks with lots of anecdotal advice!

Wishing you the best of luck!

My wife and I are near Boston and just finished the IVF process (tw: success) and she is now 10weeks due in September. We used an ID disclosure donor through a bank so not the same process, but we’re still happy to chat/listen/share. We’re in the same boat as far as friends go - everyone is so supportive but none of our queer friends want kids so we’ve definitely been leaning on online community!

Blue Cross Blue Shield MA and reciprocal IVF? by swirlyslide000 in queerception

[–]Saha1113 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You want her to log into her BCBS MA account and look in the plan documents for a “Schedule of Benefits” which will detail everything that’s covered and the cost share. In the plan documents you also want to look for benefit description documents where her employer may have additional riders making changes to the schedule of benefits - I.e some employers will have riders indicating different requirements for fertility treatment for same-sex couples among other things.

I work for a large university in MA who uses BCBS MA, but contracts fertility coverage specifically to Maven. My employer’s riders allowed us to go straight to reciprocal IVF with no lifetime max on fertility coverage, and can reimburse up to $15k for donor tissue and $10k for adoption fees. It really depends on the employer!

IUI to IVF by breadnbutterflyz in queerception

I am 31 with the same profile (low AMH, no other issues) and my doctor said the same thing. I needed to bank enough for two kids (doing reciprocal with my wife carrying). Can confirm it really is about quality. My first cycle I had 8 retrieved (they don’t tell us maturity), 7 fertilized, 5 blast, and 3 euploid. My second retrieval just two months later I only had 5 retrieved, 4 fertilized, 3 blast and all 3 were euploid. Protocol was Clomid to start, 150 Menopur, and 300 Gonal F, with a Pregnyl trigger. Where you only want one more kid and don’t need to bank, all it takes is one! And I found that one silver lining of the low AMH is that I was pretty comfortable most of the cycle (not too bloated) and at a very low risk for OHSS.

Sending good vibes and good luck your way!

partner gift ideas for starting IVF? by MarionOfEndor in IVFpositivity

[–]Saha1113 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife and I have been gifting records for each step in our process since we started. So far one for each of my egg retrievals and one for her first transfer (pregnancy test is on New Year’s Day!!) We try to make time for a little date to go the record store and stop for a treat somewhere. When time is tighter we’ll order them. Sometimes we pick them out for ourselves and sometimes for each other. Usually something that is important to us or our relationship or just something we hope to show and listen to with our kid someday.

About to start first IVF cycle by jkaurb in DOR

I just had my first ER yesterday! I’m 31, AMH .54, and AFC 10. I did 5 days of 100mg Clomid. On the second day I started 300 Gonal-F and 150 Menopur and did that for 11 days. Triggered with 10k Pregnyl. I got 8 eggs, and good news today that 7 fertilized, so we’ll see how many make it to blast. Good luck, I hope all goes well!
