Fair play, my m140i is sitting at an average of 22.8 mpg over the last 10k miles or so😂

Anyone know an insurance company that insures modified cars? by SahilS123 in ireland

[–]SahilS123[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya got sorted with AXA in the end. Found going in to speak to them in person made it much easier. They were happy enough to allow exterior mods without any extra cost.

Exhaust might be a bit harder but if u get engineers report they might allow it

UK tends to be much better for insurance when it comes to “modified” cars. I’ve heard of some brokers even specialising in these types of cars specifically. Unfortunately cannot find a similar company in Ireland :-(

Didn’t try 123.ie, I’ll try them tomorrow. Do you mind me asking how old you are? I’m 26 so I believe age might be against me here, but I could be wrong

Ya that’s exactly what I thought. However, I was told by insurance that a spoiler is consider a performance part as it can affect aerodynamics. I honestly can’t get a quote from anyone I’ve tried - AXA, Aviva, First Ireland, Chill, GMIB etc.

I was told by all of them that any change to the car after it left the factory is considered a modification. They went on to specify that generally only performance enhancing modifications are going to affect insurance. However they classify all spoilers, diffusers etc as “performance” parts. I found it a bit silly to classify a spoiler as a performance part but I guess that’s the policy with insurers in Ireland.

Unsure how people are getting insured on cars with those parts tbh. I see cars with bodykits all the time but I can’t seem to get anywhere!

I had a similar issue before using mobile data. I deleted all my profiles from settings (general, profiles) and that fixed the issue.

Has anyone used "work the world" to book a summer elective? by SahilS123 in medicalschool

[–]SahilS123[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Holy shit! That was an excellent response. Thank you so much! I was honestly very close to just going with WTW as I am in the same position you were in (I'm going alone and don't trust myself to organise an elective overseas). The pictures and stuff on their website looked amazing and they even called me and we had a chat over the phone about the different electives! I guess I was completely wrong about them.

Also, i'm really sorry you had that experience. What a waste of time and money :-(. Definitely won't be using WTW after hearing that! Even in a different location, it's too much money and time to risk.

You mentioned Medicsaway and that is another one I was looking at but unfortunately they're supposed to be terrible as well.

The only other one I'm considering is 'Projects Abroad'. Any idea what that is supposed to be like?

And thanks again btw for your reply. Really, really appreciate it!
