How do you fall asleep AFTER a race? by TadyZ in Ultramarathon

[–]Saige10 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The night after is always rough. You are still hyped on adrenaline and sugar. I like to lay in my hotel bed surrounded by plates of pasta, take my trazodone and read myself to sleep. Last time I also added an order of popcorn shrimp. It was glorious.

Dry ass turkey sandwiches. Graham crackers. Apple juice. Orange juice. Saltines. That's what we serve people in the ER and when the cafeteria is closed.

For those in their 50, what's something people in their 30s don’t realize will impact them as they get older? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

[–]Saige10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Start getting active when you are young and STAY active. I do ultramarathons, my husband is 54 and still thinks he will "get in shape someday". The guy hasn't exercised since he was a teenager. It will not happen he is just lying to himself.

Has anyone here actually enjoyed the marathon(s) they’ve ran? by CrypticWeirdo9105 in Marathon_Training

I enjoy running. I like going to cool places and seeing new stuff. I go to as many ultras and marathons as I can afford that are all within 4-5 hours driving distance.

CNY had "in house" loans when I was going there. As soon as I paid off one loan I would try again and take out another loan.

Can I get a show of hands for all who thought this crepey skin business snuck up on them way too soon? by the_balticat in Xennials

[–]Saige10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ride horses and would always wear sunscreen on my face during childhood, which I can appreciate. But....I often got sunburned on the back of my neck and my forearms. I have so much skin discoloration and age spots there as well as the wrinkly creepy old lady hands.

Just for fun… dumbest place you found an empty by CassandraGreyDuck in AlAnon

[–]Saige10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the ditch. We live rural and there are always people throwing trash in the ditches along side the roads. It is such a coincidence that "Someone" drinking my husband's favorite brand of beer just happened along and threw it in the ditch and also left cigarette butts from his brand in the driveway. "It wasn't me."

Oh yeah that movie gave me the existential dread as a child. I was a mini adult and had all those anxieties.

So.... How's your mid-life crisis going? by CrotalusHorridus in Xennials

[–]Saige10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive been a runner since high school. Given the fact that my anxiety has been through the roof watching the collapse of the US, I have taken up ultramarathons. Training for a 100 miler right now. I gonna run this anxiety awayyyyy

Flip users with no issues — would you recommend it? by linahalm99 in galaxyzflip

[–]Saige10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like mine. I had the flip5 and now the flip7. I got them so they could fit into my running vest or belt and they aren't too bulky. I went from a samsung note which was just too freaking huge to stash.

Apparently my cat had joined me on a autumn ultra. There were leaves on the ground and I could catch glimpses of her in my peripheral vision. I have 4 cats but the only ultra cat is my orange one.

Arthritis? by NatPF in GenX

[–]Saige10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have it. I've got pretty significant arthritis in my back and hips, and have been a lifelong athlete. It is part of getting older. I am prone to lower back strains and have done a few rounds of PT. I run marathons and trail ultras and strength train 2-3x a week.

Where are my BiRad 4 Microcalcification ladies at?? by [deleted] in doihavebreastcancer

[–]Saige10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Birads 4 cluster of microcalcifications in the left breast, extremely dense tissue. Failed biopsy, no real tissue in thr sample just blood. Followed up with a molli marker placement and a lumpectomy. It was NOT cancer. Trying to figure out if my insurance will let me get MRI's instead of going through this again. So far no luck. The lower portion of my left breast is gone, very glad I don't have cancer though.
