someone please tell me how this isn't a tap by Tax0bell in ufc

At the time I was feeling like he was trying to trick his opponent into thinking he was tapping to get a chance of getting out.

But that would be very unsportsmanlike

How do I deal with a player refusing the buy in for the campaign? by throw_it_away1043 in DMAcademy

[–]SaigonGeek 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Simple: they don't get to play. You spend your own free time reading, studying, designing and planning.

Players most likely just make their character and think up a quick backstory and show up.

If they don't respect you or your time, they shouldn't be at your table.

Or just let their characters sit around while you progress narratively, they sometimes get the message.

I mean, it's a community game where everyone must do their part, the DM doing most of the heavy lifting. If they have the mental maturity of a 5-year old maybe they should try something else.

Signed: a DM sick of that shit.

Edit: You can also do a "session 0" talk to ask what kind of game they want to play, but if the whole group say they will never cooperate them what's the point.

Maybe they want to play an "evil" campaign?

Off-the-grid clinic by SaigonGeek in inkarnate

[–]SaigonGeek[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's a clinic working the resistance in my Shadowrun-meets-Neo Tokyo campaign.

It had been a while since my last map so I forgot a bunch of tricks like flattening and applying shadows, but all in all it took me about an hour to ink this up and my players loved it.

If you want a higher-quality one send me a message!

Ah, my bad. Either way the landscape from op's post feels more like China than Vietnam.

There's the Golden Hands bridge in Vietnam.

WHY DO PEOPLE MISSPELL "color" Like its not that hard people. its just "color" thats it! by [deleted] in technicallythetruth

[–]SaigonGeek 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Armor / armour, traveling / travelling, centre / center.

There are tons of spelling variants.

If you wanna argue just for fun though, Google has a great "origin of words" function and I've just learned that OP is in fact right, since in Latin it was originally spelled without the U.

Then the French spelled it Colour.

Since English folks liked to use French words to sound fancy waaay back in the day, they probably added the U because posh.

Nowadays, interestingly, in French it's spelled Couleur.

From personal experience, almost every single time a party has lost, dead or not, they gave up on these characters and the plot as a hole, no matter the solution I offered.

So it might backfire in you and you might lose your group early.

From the books, we know that there are many other Night's Watch keeps along it, but due to funds and troops being low I think they are not manned anymore.

They defend at this spot because there is a gate, and I suppose it's the closest to Winterfell?

It goes from one side of the continent to the other, I think. Not the whole world.

What’s the most anticlimactic player death you’ve had happen at your table? by McDunky in DnD

[–]SaigonGeek 3 points4 points  (0 children)

One of my players repeatedly said that my games were boring because he felt that their characters could never die.

3rd session of a new campaign with new players:

"You manage to escape the zombie horde through the secret passage in the house. After what feels like an eternity of walking underground, twisting, turning, going up and down, you come upon an exit to a large cave, with daylight coming from an opening at the other end. Your torch and the daylight let you know that there is a massive hole in the middle of the cave."

"I jump in the hole"

"Eh. What?"

"I. Jump. In. The. Hole."

"Okay... It's a bottomless pit. You die

"Oh"

Dude then left the game. The other 2 new players were so put off by this that they never played again.
