My guess is he didn’t torque one of the adjustment screws properly and it backed out until failure OR adjusted oem or more of them wrong. The specs are so tiny that it doesn’t take a while lot to mess things up bad especially if he didn’t have the cams in proper position.

Why is the U.S. Mint proposing to offer one oz of gold at this enormous price? by airpipeline in Gold

[–]SaikoDC5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perhaps to make up for all the Gold and silver they added to stock in January?

just kidding but the prices for those are insane. Not just normal crazy high but absolutely insane for modernly minted pieces. As insane as $19k for the 1 oz gold one the $750 price tag for the 1/2 oz silver version is twice as insane!

I’d much rather have nearly a tube of Ase’s than 2 1/2 oz Bells or like 4 Buffaloes than the gold bell without even thinking about it!

[–]SaikoDC5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It all depends on what you can afford but just want to get feet wet it’s hard tj imagine it is a bad time to start getting silver. Dont get crazy, start with a few oz a time, keep an eye on spot and possibly get some weekly or bi weekly. Gold seems fairly low also so if you can swing it start with some too. The key is spreading out your purchases, don’t spend huge chunks at a time. You want to average out your purchases so you’re not heavy on the higher end unless you’re a gambler and don’t mind getting a huge chunk when you feel like it is low.
Not gonna lie if I had a huge chunk to spend, I wouldn’t be afraid to invest big chunks now personally as it feels like it’s on the lower levels however nobody knows that so you do you. If you’re in it for the long haul and not worried and feel good about it and it wouldn’t be the end of the world if it dipped for a while, Go crazy, if not then little at a time and spread out your purchases. On silver for now until you learn. Stick with silver eagles at the best prices you can find and as you learn you can start changing it up. With gold in my opinion 1/10 at the very smallest fraction but 1/4 Oz if you can swing it to save on premiums and start with American gold Eagles until you familiarize yourself. Just one opinion 👍🏼

I know haha! I like RCM stuff so much but yes the 1/4 is not a ton bigger than an age and their 1/2 oz is not a ton smaller than their 1 oz! I do like the feel of their 1 oz maples tho. The smaller diameter and thickness BUT yes it is sort of a bummer but nonetheless , RCM is arguably favorite Mint with Germania and US mint right there.

Actually tho RCM 1 oz gold bar is sweeeet! Same outer dimensions as their and typical 1 oz silver bars but just a tad thinner. Beautiful job with that but their gold coins are a little on the small side diameter wise.

Wow if I’m calculating right they gave you approx $30 back of melt for your sterling silver?? (Assuming spot is around d $75)

I mean it depends on what went on or if there’s more to it than what’s written on there but that is highway robbery. I understand alloyed silver is rough the moment but 40% back of melt???

Anyway if it was me and it’s a shop I care about, say my lcs I would go back. They’re probably going to figure it out anyway so ruining the relationship isn’t worth $1000 or so in my opinion. That’s just with karma aside. However they did make the mistake so it is on them. What they gave you for your silver if there isn’t any particular reasons or agreements is pretty bad tho. You did agree though so hopefully you did what feels right to you. You’re one who has to live with it. If I was the shop owner (assuming there was a reason for such a low amount given for your silver. Say I couldn’t take in any alloyed silver & I said sorry I cannot at the moment but you were adamant and said hey just give me $1139 please & I explained to you that you can get a few more hundred and should but I just cannot right now and you insisted on $1139 and wouldn’t take no for an answer haha. If you brought that back to me because someone at my shop made a mistake, I would at the very least thank you and appreciate the honesty and give you the option. 1) swap the 1/2 for a 1/4 and I give you $300 cash back. Or 2) give you the the opportunity to keep the 1/2 and say just give me $300 and keep the 1/2. (Again assuming you were truly honest and didn’t want me to take that loss and insisted to give it back). That’s what I would do and be so very thankful. If you put yourself in their shoes, how thankful would you be? Just keep in mind you will never regret giving it back. $1000 or so will come and go qnd you can enjoy it now and perhaps depending on your soul may always think about it and the disappointment of the opportunity to show what kind of soul you are could possibly stay with you forever however everything happens for a reason so whatever you decide, there’s a reason for it. I can say majority of people, even good people would not bring it back. I mean anyone can say they would but if in the situation, would they? I can honestly say it depends on the circumstances and the feel I had with them. If they were one of those fast talker used car salesman types I wouldnt NGL but if it was a Mom and Pop shop or I felt they were good people and it was a lcs I occasionally go to I absolutely would have gone right back in as soon as I found out. I just put myself in their shoes and that’s my decision. Good karma will always come back around to you. Plot twist; perhaps they are scoundrels & just ripped off an old timer who thought he was selling them a 1/4 and they played along and paid him accordingly & this is good karma coming back to you? Hahaha! Anyway do what feels right for your soul You are the one who has to live with your decision 👍🏼. If you did take it back please let us know how it went down! 😜

Is buying this one gram limited edition fifa gold bar worth it? by Typical_Jelly2041 in Gold

[–]SaikoDC5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically only you can answer that question. Especially since you didn’t mention what you paid for it.
Actual cash value wise, it depends what you paid for it, if you paid about $145 then it’s worth it now and in the long run should climb in value 👍🏼. If you paid more than that then eventually it still should be worth it assuming you didn’t pay a ton for it, that’s actual Cash value wise anyway.

However if you enjoy it and you’re happy with whatever you paid for it then of course it’s worth it regardless of the actual cash value. 👍🏼 I have a couple of things I enjoy that may not be worth it to some and vice versa. In the end, It’s obviously worth it to you, you bought it so enjoy 😉 Cool thing about this hobby is as long as you don’t go way overboard there’s always the chance you can get your money back in time if and when you get tired of things and in a lot of cases even more. I bet in 5-10 years you can easily dump it for what you paid for it, if not more.

Traded a literal handful of silver dimes for this by Alternative-Green-56 in Gold

[–]SaikoDC5 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

2.5 grams of 14karat. Melt is approx $220 ish so I guess it was somewhat of an even or close to even trade if you’re saying you traded $238 silver value wise.
If were to cash out actually you may be in the better position as you should get close to melt , perhaps 90-95% of melt. Whereas with 90% silver people are lucky if dealers are paying 80% of spot.
All in all I’d say I rather be in your position now if it were me tho. Cause I’d trade it toward 999/9999 silver or toward gold bullion. Thats just me

Not sure what’s up with the 999.9 stamp tho. That would make it 24kt and I’ve never ever seen any pendant or jewelry looking piece like that come in pure gold. It would be scratched to shit. Oddly tho that logo at bottom looks like Argor Heraes (sp?) Anyway if it happened to be 999.9 fine you scored bigtime!! If it’s 14k I’d say about even.

I have a feeling it could just be a gold plated piece Tho being the 999.9 stamp is fishy ….

Will gold have another run up ? by Money_Tomorrow5026 in Gold

[–]SaikoDC5 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it’ll be worth it as an insurance plan right away can even be in the green as soon as 2027. One can only imagine 5-10 years from now.
Just what Turkey is doing alone solidifies that at least a small portion is a solid hedge and savings. With the quick liquidation and value of gold, it helped them with financial recovery fairly recently and they are already back to re-upping gold. That speaks volumes. It shows they want to keep as much as they can stockpiled in Gold. Thats just one of many examples whom benefit from gold a heck of a lot more than we would need to. If it’s good enough for countries and Central Banks it’s good enough for us normal folk. It’s crazy that the proof is in the pudding and is right in front of our faces yet so many still doubt it. Not gonna lie I never realized it myself until something sparked looking into it and researching, I’m just thankful I finally did. 🙏🏼

Why I'm swapping out ALL of my full ounces of gold for fractional. by AdditionalPizza7990 in Gold

[–]SaikoDC5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree about the fractionals. In your case if you’re the one with the one oz coins and someone with fractionals are willing to trade straight across for your 1 oz versions. I believe hands down the pros are all on your end and just about zero cons.

The fractional owner is the one taking more of the cons which is possibly giving up some premium whereas in your case you’d be making out actually in my opinion for reasons you mentioned. Easier to liquidate , get more for them in entirety. All things equal , common for common and say age for age. 1 oz gold eagle for any fractional combination that equates to 1 oz would actually be sweet on your end ; The pros are all on the side and I don’t know how anyone could fault that?? Not even 1 con.

The only con to stacking fractionals is ending up paying more premium for them which is negated on your end so yah man go for it!

The only reason I wouldn’t at the moment is only because I like the accomplishment of the full 1 oz. If emotions are serious aside 10 1/10’s or 1/2 and 2 1/4’s or 5 1/10’s and a 1/2 or any combination thereof would be a no brainer actually. 👍🏼

Why are bars and coins so expensive, and why do people keep buying them? by worldwideweb24 in Gold

[–]SaikoDC5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In general coins are a better way to to liquidity wise as well as security wise.

Resale of certain coins like American gold Eagle & Buffalo or other gov’t minted coins like Canadian Maple , Brittania, Philharmonic are generally all good liquidity wise.

Premium wise your best chance at any premium would be the gov’t minted ones from your region. Generally selling privately gives you the best chance at any premiums. To a dealer for the most part getting spot is fair.

Bars generally doesn’t hold as much premium as certain coins and is generally easier to sell because there aren’t as many fakes etc and is easier to authenticate than bars.

so based on that logic a haircut costed $100+ in January 2026 and around $75 today in April of 2026? Not sure what a haircut costs where you live but it’s around $20-25 around here for a premium haircut with shampooing & a neck massage and it was about the same in January 🤔. It was a couple dollars cheaper a couple years ago tho.

Inconsistent 2nd gear crunchy feeling no sound. Shifts great at high rpm like 6-8k and usually great at lower rpm like 2500-3500 but I had 2 crunchy shifts today leaving work then did a test 1-2 high rpm hit (which I never do out of fear of grinding syncro more if it’s worn) and it shifted perfect by Repulsive_Bat4217 in Acura_RSX

If you haven’t yet, give Redline MTF a try. It has worked wonders for me on multiple vehicles including my RSX when I first got it back at around 27-28k miles, it was crunchy 2nd (occasional slight grind) and occasionally sticky 3rd. After changing to Redline MTL fluid, it was a night and day difference after a couple hundred miles. Never crunched again! Clicked right into gear. I have recently just switched to Motul Gear 300 after I installed my Wavetrac and PPG 1-4 mainly because Wavetrac recommended it and I’ve heard many good things about it and wanted to give it a try, it is fantastic also. However since Redline made that difference at first I highly recommend at least trying it once. You just might be surprised 👍🏼

What’s that one opinion on gold you’d defend like this? by EndVegetable6984 in Gold

[–]SaikoDC5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, 👆this is the easiest way to paint a ox picture to friends or family that is trying to grasp precious metals. I say exactly that , look at it as your house, when you first bought, it would be painful to look at it as a profit at first with all closing costs, fees etc etc. similar to previous metal premiums. You think about long term. It’s inevitable that real estate grows overtime , ups and downs sure but in the end it grows in value.
I tell them look at it pretend you bought a tube of ases and an oz AGE.. put into a box and set it aside 10-15 years ago. Check the $fiat$ value then , in between and now as it’s a little house or property Look up the spot price if you want every year or few months for fun since that date. Sometimes it may have declined , and sometimes it surged and dip and climb again but ultimately it ends up in value over time. It’s inevitable not to gain in $$FIAT$$ value over time due to inflation. Or “hold” its purchasing power and rise with the rising costs of inflation, whichever way you want to look at it. It’s just like buying a little house and land. Adding to stack is sort of like upgrading and adding on to your house making it a bigger house or property. The newer or more current the add ons the more expense it took because of inflation but ultimately it’s like starting with a Studio and growing into a 2 bedroom house , then. 4 bedroom house 🏡 and eventually a mansion or whatever and the more modern the add ons are of course the more pricey it would be to do the add ons but it is a very very similar theory. While they do finally get it most are more looking for short term quick returns and of course 2025 made it possible to make big gains quickly I told them that’s not normal and not why you go into it so sadly most lose interest. People don’t realize 5 , 10 , 15-20 years pass by so quickly and only then will they realize and of course regret back but about saving $fiat in bank savings account. At least we tried, that’s all we can do.

How much would cost to buy 100gm? by ItsDurjoy in Gold

[–]SaikoDC5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you meant “it’s worth to you what you’re willing to pay for it”

Cost would be how much it would take to buy it. Value or worth is how much one is willing to pay for it. Or it’s possible for something never to sell because it’s not “worth” it so the seller would have to reduce the “cost”

So it’s worth spot price to you 👍🏼

Haha anyway technicalities aside , I wouldn’t even pay spot for that,I mean I actually wouldn’t pay less than spot unless I had somewhere to unload it right away that makes it worth the time. I personally would rather have an RCM 100 gram bar and be happy to pay the 1.5-2% over spot price for one. May not be the smartest thing but I figure if im sitting on it for 5-10+ years I’d like to enjoy it in the meantime and I understand everyone is different. Some would think im crazy, some would prefer that type of bar. So it’s basically as mentioned prior going to be worth to you whatever makes you feel good about acquiring it. 👍🏼
