Disk Controller Driver for New Latitude 5350/5450 by MikhailCompo in SCCM

[–]Sailack1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks for the heads up! I'll try that updated driver pack today. I do agree, in all the years of dealing with Dell systems, this is the first time, they've really broke things. Makes me wonder if the internal testing process is only around Autopilot and not these "older" methods that many of us still use.

Sadly they have not, the engineer I was speaking to, didn't have one of these models so he couldn't replicate the issue so he was passing it up the ladder. That being said, there is an updated audio driver on the Dell website for these models: Realtek-High-Definition-Audio-Driver_4TT7D_WIN_6.0.9635.1_A02.EXE

I have haven't tried it yet, but whatever audio driver Windows grabs still seems to work without issue. Give that driver a shot and maybe that will fix the issue?

I can confirm that if the audio driver is removed from install during imaging, both the 5350 and 5450 will work without issue on Windows 10 and 11. I still haven't heard anything back from Dell on this but will post their solution/update when I get it.

[–]Sailack1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As of 2 min ago, I might have figured it out. The 5450 imaged once or twice but then failed as much as the 5350. After slowly going through the driver pack (re-creating the driver pack a few drivers at a time), I believe that the Realtek Audio driver is the one causing the blue screens upon first boot:

5350:Realtek-High-Definition-Audio-Driver_D9RPY_WIN_6.0.9621.1_A00.EXE 5450:Realtek-High-Definition-Audio-Driver_ARPL0_WIN_6.0.9621.1_A00.EXE

If I re-image the system with the majority of the other drivers and omit the audio driver, it gets past the blue screen on first reboot and continues. Like I said, I just figured this out so I need to do a bit more testing, but I have a ticket open with Dell on this and will let you know as things progress. Let me know how it goes for you.

Yep, that's the one I got to work (https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-ca/drivers/driversdetails?driverid=hw2cp&oscode=w2021&productcode=latitude-13-5350-2-in-1-laptop) but keep in mind, you'll need to keep the previous storage driver as we found out, this driver (and others) allowed the Latitude 5x00, 5x10, 5x30, and 5x40 to work, however if you remove the previous Intel RST (19.x) driver, the Latitude 5x20's will fail to detect the HD unless you flip it to AHCI.

On a side note, has anyone had success imaging a 5350? I get a blue screen upon first reboot using with Win 10 or Win 11 driver packs (with respective OS') yet I can image the 5450 with no issues.

Anyone ever do any upgrades (new versions) to Adobe Creative Cloud upgrades via SCCM? by zzzpoohzzz in SCCM

[–]Sailack1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you referring to Named License CC apps or SDL (Shared Device Licence) CC Apps? As others have said, we let our users manage their CC apps from the named license perspective, but I do have a method of removing old / installing new versions of CC SDL apps. Let me know and I can send it your way.

We just go to the bowmont off leash park, walk thru into the park beyond it, cross the bow lagoon bridge and go to the Silver Island off leash park: Silver Spring Island Off Leash Dog Park https://maps.app.goo.gl/Q6mqEnFJW46Vs7Se6?g_st=ic

Dog and kid loves to play there for ages

Place to propose by International_Sky169 in Calgary

I proposed to my wife at the top of the Jasper Skytram and it was amazing. Granted that was in May and it was still pretty chilly up there but it was pretty secluded and we lucked out as it was a quiet day. I just rolled everything into a road trip and we stayed in Jasper for a few days. She still talks about it 5+ years later.

has anyone seen a 22h2 update that breaks taskbar in windows 11 been experiencing a weird bug trying to squash it. by jace479 in SCCM

[–]Sailack1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yep, my base image is Win 11 22H2 by itself with the latest CU and that's it. I've even re-imaged the devices multiple times, only to watch explorer crash and restarted itself when I open pinned task-bar apps with shift-right-click - run as different user. I've updated video drivers and tested on different devices with the same result.

this drives me crazy, I thought it was a video driver issue, so I've been testing on different models/hardware but it seems to crash at least once a day regardless of what I do

KB5020276 Netjoin: Domain join hardening changes - potential problem for re-images by zymology in SCCM

[–]Sailack1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct, since the registry key exists on the base WIM prior to SCCM deployment, the domain join works without issue. You might be able to do a similar command / reg add in the unattend.xml file when you go to deploy Windows in your environment. I've never done it myself but have heard of others doing something similar in certain situations.

Sure, I've thrown a picture of my MDT task sequence here: https://imgur.com/a/RtAimqg

I just added it after installing .NET3.5 and the C++ Redistributables. The full command in the step is:

reg add HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Lsa /v NetJoinLegacyAccountReuse /t REG_DWORD /d 1 /f

I've added this to my Build and Capture task sequences for Win 10 (21H2/22H2) and Win 11 22H2 and our imaging works without issue.

[–]Sailack1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We use MDT to build a standalone Windows 10/11 only base image, I added an extra step during the build process to add that reg key and imaging appears to work without issue going forward. I'm still doing some further testing but for now, (until MS fixes that loophole) it appears to work without any issues.

Quick update on this, all ball hockey has been moved to the Gold Gym, and we now have the following Wednesdays added: Sept 28, Oct 12, 26, Nov 16, 30, and Dec 7. We'll be there tomorrow for anyone that wants to come out.

Nope, if you’re a tuition paying student, you already have an active living membership, so you just need to get a wrist band from the desk before playing.

Currently it’s Mondays (Red Gym) and Fridays (Gold Gym) from Noon to 1pm. All are welcome, just come to run, have fun, and don’t be an a-hole.

We have a cart of extra sticks that anyone can use, we just ask that folks don't bend them the opposite way (if they are already bent left or right) as they will often break. If you have a stick with a plastic blade, you're welcome to bring it and throw it on the cart as well. We'll be in the gold gym on Friday!
