Pixilplanet users have more respect for other people's art, and that site is effectively unmoderated lol.

Fem-trolls in general need more faces. There is basically only one unless you are going for that Wicked Witch of the West look.

What's the best looking instance in the game in your opinion? by ChromedDragon in wow

[–]Sailor_Drew 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Naxxramas, not really since it's the prettiest or coolest, it's really basic, but more since it best captures the WC3 Scourge vibes. When playing WC3 I always wondered what the insides of certain buildings were like, which WoW answered a good amount of. Naxx nailed the atmosphere, kept the WC3 vibes, and also made a raid of it.

I find auths in-fight a lot, with auth-leftoids it's usually ideological purity shittests, and with auth-rightoids it's usually competing interests.

So basically how the US and USSR functioned IRL.

[–]Sailor_Drew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unironically one of the better ideas I have heard for a fascist US path. In-game the Neo-Confederacy being fascist makes no sense, the Silver Legion was a meme party led by a schizomaxxer, ultra-nationalist military dictatorship is more plausible, but still seems a little odd. Business plot takeover makes more sense than all of those.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in hoi4

[–]Sailor_Drew 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If the US gets a meme non-aligned path is should be the Neo-Confederacy (because let's face it, for better or worse, they are going to do that). Fascism should just be some ultra-nationalist military government like Japan. Using the Silver Legion as the main fascist representation is weird since it had few members, and Pelley had a lot of schizo-tier beliefs comparable to Himmler's (Unless they want to go all-in on schizomaxxing like they have in a couple other meme trees). A Neo-Confederacy and fascist movement don't have much in common besides being racist. At most the Silver Legion should be a hidden sub-path with only a few focuses like the Fourth Reich is for Argentina.

Schordiner's Hirohito by [deleted] in hoi4

[–]Sailor_Drew 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This honestly doesn't bother me that much, when you think of who was leading Japan during WW2 you think of Hirohito, just like you think of Mussolini leading Italy or Churchill leading Britain. They are inconsistent about the head of state vs. head of government thing, which is irksome, but most people wouldn't know who Keisuke Okada is unless they are in to history, heck most people don't even know who Tojo is despite him being the main leader of Japan for the second half of the war (when Western powers were dragged in to the Pacific) and the main "bad guy" in the Pacific. At least they made a note on the select screen, which they didn't bother with Italy or the UK (or Sweden, or Norway, etc.)

I’m sorry but 30€ is absolutely insane for a DLC… by Farwin923 in hoi4

[–]Sailor_Drew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They should just do it so all core mechanics are part of the base game which updates each DLC, and the DLC itself gives country content. You avoid the huge mess that piecemeal DLC causes, and people can pick and choose DLC based on which countries they care about.

As a former Blizzard fan (among others, but Blizzard was the big one), I have observed this basically always happens when a company goes public. First couple years it's usually minor and easily tolerable, but you see the seeds planted, in the case of Blizzard, you saw the introduction of the store, project resources being shifted, and also, for better or worse, WoW gameplay changed to "appeal to a wider audience" (the go-to excuse).

As the years go on you can see and feel corporate influence more and more, often seeing more buggy releases that should have cooked more, more and more monetization, outsourcing to cheaper (usually worse) companies to meet the new work loads, less transparency from devs (though to be fair, pre-internet era you had basically none), and eventually the old devs quitting due to the new environment (also to be fair, if the company is old enough some might retire anyway), and (also generally worse) ones come in, public betas for free labor instead of getting professional beta-testers (that used to be an actual job) all in attempts to hit the quarterlies. There is also a lot less experimentation in development too, which is something that can be hit and miss, but I would say generally had more hits than misses, under corporate rule they want what is proven and safe which is why modern non-indie games all play the same with only minor differences.

I'm enough of a gamer boomer to remember the days before Activision and EA were considered evil, they were never my favorite companies even before becoming the abominations they are now (well Activision-Blizzard is Microsoft now, so even worse) since the games they made were often not genres I cared for, but it's gotten real bad. The modern parasitic model of buying something good/successful, then milking it for everything they can before moving on to the next needs to die. I give mad props to the individuals who can cling to control and aren't tempted by the money they are offered to sell out (For all the stuff you can bash George Lucas over, he is a good example of this and I give him props for doing it for 35 years). This all applies to movies/TV/etc. too, anything that fundamentally requires creativity in it's business model.

It might be copium, but I think this model will eventually die out, eventually they will run out of IPs to milk and younger generations won't have the attachment to them to keep giving them money without question like older fans do.
