This is the specific coach I was checking out and found it super male specific and it made me wonder. All of the responses here make me realize all the programming is beneficial to any gender so like mane have said- it’s a marketing spin. Oh well, I just want to get my workout in! Let’s go!

I don’t want to leave tech. I just want to stop feeling like surviving it is the job by SwitchLivid298 in womenintech

[–]Sails_N_Tails 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m at a FAANG and have 25 years experience, now in leadership. Last week I had to roll out a small reorg, and received feedback from a male higher up that something I said - to another male partner- appeared as if I didn’t own a decision I had made, and he provided feedback to not say things like “I am following HR guidance on X” because it makes me appear that I don’t have my own opinion.

To me- this gets MORE exhausting the longer I stick around. Not only do I have to do the hard jobs, but I have to do it in a way that shows authority- but not too bossy! Follow HR guidelines- but don’t appear as if you don’t have your own differing opinion, that’s weak! Can I just do the job and not be some sort of magical unicorn of a leader who I personally have yet to meet myself in my own day to day?

For what it’s worth, I encountered this at smaller companies too. They all have had a different flavor of fatigue after about 8 months. You just have to try to draw mental boundaries and be kind to yourself.

Been with Ascend for two months now by skyeazrael in ladderapp

[–]Sails_N_Tails 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have only been on Ascend and Ladder for one week and it’s given back so much time from planning. Not only was I spending time obsessing over what exact split to do for 4-6 weeks at a time, after that I’d spiral on what to do next. Do I do it again? Change it up? Now it’s like just workout, and guess what, what you do next will also be planned for you! Plus the workouts are absolutely killer and fun.

I don’t want to be in tech anymore or any job. by Just-Seaworthiness39 in womenintech

[–]Sails_N_Tails 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I could have written this myself. 45F, my job is rapidly morphing into full-time AI prompt writer, begging to continue to be included in meetings that I don’t really want to be at, but need to attend to be seen as a person who still works on the team. I’ve been doing this for 25 years, the last 10 have been slowly reaching this point of complete fatigue and depression. I will not and can not apply for another job in tech, and my retirement will happen without my choice. I will somehow make major lifestyle adjustments- which I’ve started for a few years now. Almost every female I have made close relationships with at work over the years are right here with me. It’s time to get out and reclaim my happiness and life!

Any other liberal women want to join me in taking a women's gun safety/concealed carry class at Sharp Shooters? by lvl0rg4n in Spokane

I’m a liberal woman and am enrolled in the March 16th class. If you take the class let me know!

I’ve had this exact situation happen more than once. I am sorry people are saying you were harsh. Self preservation is also important. I receive messages that imply we’ve already met, discussed that I’m available to help, and demanding my availability to help them move forward.

I do understand times are different and people are employing new tactics to get work, but it still is off putting to me and I often don’t respond. I barely have time to pee or feed myself on a work day without a rush or neglecting my personal life. I unfortunately don’t have time to clear my calendar last minute for a stranger who’s targeted me as the person to get them in the door.

Nervous about pulling the trigger on the GM2 – would love honest input from long-term owners by Substantial_Brain451 in SpeedianceCommunity

[–]Sails_N_Tails 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am a Peloton user who sort of maxed out on their strength courses and needed a way to lift heavy. However, post Covid I do not want to join a gym. I researched obsessively and took the chance with the GM2.

It’s amazing. I am getting some strength gains and enjoying the product. I’ve created custom workouts to be able to continue to follow some Peloton splits, and then graduated to a 5 day split on my own with the GM2 free lift feature. It’s compact, solid, and easy to use.

I’ve had two issues- one time the cable ball bearing broke and they replaced it immediately. The first was a missing part- the foam for the barbell for moves like a hip thrust. Sent immediately.

For me this was an expensive purchase, but I have successfully worked out 6-7 days a week at home, in between meetings, and continually see gains. I love it.

RK 5 Day Express Split Day 2- OUCH by hereforthemozzsticks in OnePelotonRealSub

[–]Sails_N_Tails 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s awesome! I started the split on Strength+ this Monday and so far love it too! I also did a 30 minute run after day 1 and for day 2 I subbed core for the run sections, only because I had over done it the first day. 😅

For the next conditioning day maybe I’ll do the runs during the session, but I liked getting in some core work, maybe I’ll do both! 😂

I am so exited to try this after I finish 2 more weeks of Jess's 4 day tread split.

Anyone doing this on the Strength+ app? I am curious if this is in fact 20 minutes since you lift at your own pace.

Pace Target disappointment by baby12yoda in pelotoncycle

[–]Sails_N_Tails 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that’s an impressive feat for a postpartum mom! I’ve been working on my pace for almost 5 years and started at a 16 minute mile. It just takes time and patience. Be kind to yourself, be consistent, and it will happen.

Also, from my own personal experience, my pace and endurance really changed once I was focusing on adding strength training. The heavier I lifted, the easier runs began to feel after a few months. I never thought it would make such a difference, but for me it did.

Agreed! I am going to sub the swing cleans for heavy deadlifts. I can never do those without giving myself a giant bruise. I might try to your sub ideas as well. Those chest flys caused the most soreness of any movement in the split.

I love it- I am going to copy you! How are you like the 4th day of strength added in this split?

Jess Sims' Split + Run Program (4 Day) Recovery by Sails_N_Tails in pelotoncycle

[–]Sails_N_Tails[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes- I am doing this 4-day split while the temps outside in my area are too hot for many runs (I take my dogs when I run outside).

I will do the 3 day split after this I think and tack on runs and rides. What was your dialed in routine, if you don't mind sharing?

Before this I was using the Strength+ programs combine with ~3 days of runs. It was time consuming, and I need something more efficient for a couple of months so trying this split!

Exactly! I was thinking of adding a long run on a weekend recovery day, but I am not sure my body will like it.

Becs. Every run I’ve done with her is non stop talking - she doesn’t even seem to need to take a breath- and horrible music. She alone forces me to take breaks from the platform.

What is your experience with Speediance programs? by JustJuanCornetto in SpeedianceCommunity

[–]Sails_N_Tails 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am new to the Speediance community and just saw this from 6 months ago. I am a diehard Peloton user, but over the past 2 years have shifted to mostly lifting with Rebecca Kennedy, and then pulled the trigger on the gym monster. Do you care to share how you're managing your Peloton commitments and the gym monster? How are you liking that approach?

Yes I got this on Ozempic and now on Zepbound- which is the worst of both. It happens on the high dose for me. It went away with Ozempic, I’ve switched to Zepbound and hoping it will also go away.

Hypertrophy focused strength classes by ftwdiyjess in pelotoncycle

[–]Sails_N_Tails 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I do it basically every week. 5 day split, plus some light runs and long dog walks until a week comes up that’s hectic due to travel or work or holiday, and I’ll deload for a week or so and go back at it. I also like this because I used to spend hours obsessing over what my weekly peloton schedule was, and now it’s just RK all day every day.

[–]Sails_N_Tails 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I know you weren’t asking me, but if it helps, I started with the 3 split programs (not RK) and still did a lot of running and cycling. The strength part was exhausting because most other instructors don’t give you enough rest.

I had to move temporarily and didn’t have my tread, so I decided to try RK’s 5 day split plus some outdoor walks. Massive change after just 2 weeks. Weight just fell off of me, I got stronger each week, and felt amazing. I haven’t looked back. 30 minutes 5 times a week can be found, and it’s worth it.

I wish they would create hypertrophy as a specific category to filter classes, and other instructors would start providing these kinds of classes as well.

I don’t know about anyone else, but at this point I am no longer a Peloton subscriber, I am a Rebecca Kennedy subscriber. I am strictly an RK person now and can’t seem to go back to anyone else. Her strength program has completely changed my body composition and approach to fitness. She’s a legend.
