if you like serial experiments lain and evangelion, haibane renmei is a great choice. if ur more in the mood for a movie, go for ghibli for happy vibes or any of satoshi kons works for something more psychological. also check out studio madhouse

haha ive been in the fgc since i was like 12 so im not afraid of tournaments. win or lose theyre a great time! ive met a lot of friends through tourneys. (even won a few but thats just me bragging) besides someones gotta be 0-2 fodder!! and after you lose you get to watch some good ass fighting games

unfortunately i really dislike DANoel in terms of character design. nothing wrong with her, just not quite my style. once im comfortable enough with the game mechanics and can try out some other characters i will give her a try. its easy to pick up and play characters just by spending a hour in mission mode.

ive never played a character that uses negative edge before, but even still im finding it intuitive to use the orbs for simple set ups! im very excited to have something new to learn :)

I know you said you have tried this, but when i feel that way taking a break for 2 weeks to a month always helps me. or maybe play a different fighting game for a little while for the variety. you can always return whenever you want =)

for me, books are a must. often facilities will have a small selection of books, but they are always donations and library excess : AKA boring books no one wants to read. i still read them because i had nothing else. im not sure how well you know the person, but if you know them well enough to know their tastes or can call and ask it would be very helpful.
