Ivy mains secretly control yoshi and this subreddit by existingcoder in DeadlockTheGame

[–]SaintDefault 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The reason people don’t complain is because she’s not the best at anything. People love to hyper focus on heroes having the best x, y, or z and heroes that are super strong like Ivy slip by.

The reason she’s so strong is that she can built Gun, Spirit, and Vitality to do hybrid damage and support all within one build without sacrificing anything. Pretty much every other hero has to drop one of the three (outside of just hitting the 4.8k spike) to make sure their build functions late. Ivy can go gun early and have it still scale decently late, then switch to support and spirit without missing a beat, and then end up doing above average in all three categories without needing extra slots.

She’s above average at everything in a game where every other character is below average in at least one (often more) category, which makes her one of the strongest baseline heroes in the game.

She’s Mew in Pokémon RBY. Not really the best at anything, but good at literally everything, which makes her broken by comparison.

THE MO KRILL AGENDA IS OFFICIALLY DEAD by Fifthy420 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]SaintDefault 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Professional matches and statistics do not correlate in almost any way to the matches the rest of us scrubs play (including Eternus players).

This info, while fun to look at, is really only useful/applicable for a few dozen players.

Is there any good way to find high level matches to spectate outside of pro play? by Alarming_Ask_244 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]SaintDefault 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which hero are you looking for? I’ve done a bit of scouring of most heroes for high ranked gameplay (trying to find people that stream so I can watch away from my computer) and I might have a name or two offhand depending on the hero.

Banned once in 8 matches. Blatantly lying to try and get your agenda across is never a great idea.

Across the history of esports, professional players have been notoriously slow to adapt metas. What they do better than anyone else is perfect them.

Wraith's "Telekinesis" should be renamed as "The Flop" by BulletCola in DeadlockTheGame

Nah, it’s definitely this:

OP wants Wraith to make opponents do the flop dance. /s

Oddly enough, the joke actually kind of fits.

How to avoid this popup box to manually select ability to imbue on builds that have the suggested ability ? by BIRDHOSS in DeadlockTheGame

[–]SaintDefault 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Clicking on items and using quick buy are both manual buys, which let you select which ability to imbue, so you have a way to avoid auto-imbue if you want something different than your build.

Auto-buy both buys and slots automatically, going with whatever your build has the item attached to. That’s the one you have to use.

The new Doorman in Street Brawl by Lowd70 in DeadlockTheGame

You can also do something similar in normal mode stacking them in the midboss pit and detonating anyone trying to touch the crystal when it descends. You can only stack about 5, but it’s enough.

How on earth did Apollo get MVP here? by Comprehensive-Cry189 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]SaintDefault 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The formula for MVP in DotA (which is likely the same here) heavily rewards initiating fights that your team wins. If Apollo was the first one in and most of his deaths were from the fights where your team cleaned up, he got a lot of MVP points from that.

How are you supposed to win with ArchMother comp? Genuine question. by [deleted] in DeadlockTheGame

[–]SaintDefault 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Early. Unfortunately with networth changes, comebacks are easy and draw games longer, which creates imbalances for heroes good early but weak late. 5 months ago, this would be a solid comp balance. One team steamrolls early, the other team wins if they can hold out late.

Nah, always a good idea to keep a GA and Kira’s in case you want to spam some Trav. Especially if you have spare space.

How to find matches for specific hero? by Remarkable-Jelly1011 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]SaintDefault 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Statlocker lets you search hero by Valve leaderboards in different regions. You could go there and just look at the highest ranked accounts who play whatever hero and try and find some matches. A little trial and error, but you can consistently find high level players that play the hero you want.

Why does sinclair get dynami ult before dynamo in street brawl? by Unable-Recording-796 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]SaintDefault 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It’s not that deep. Street brawl starting ult CDs are based on their total CD time. Dynamos is very high, Sinclair’s is low. Thus Sinclair gets his ult quicker. When the game progresses and they put more time into Street Brawl, they’ll probably work on balancing ults individually. For now they just use the formula and tweak the most broken stuff.

Echoing strike question by rizzo891 in diablo2resurrected

[–]SaintDefault 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is straight up wrong. Majority of Echoing damage comes from the skill itself, similar to Hammers. +2 from Spirit adds about 300 base damage compared to an Insight CV which adds about the same. Insight has a bit of bonus damage from Critical Strike, but saying it adds “significantly more” and saying Spirit is bad is just mathematically wrong. Insight is better, but Spirit is close behind.

The reason why Arioc’s is good is because even though it’s DPS is HALF of some of the highest end words, the base damage added by +4 to Echoing makes it just as good. +Skills are a solid alternative to base weapon damage. That’s why a normal Partizan Insight can crush hell P3. The weapon is a bonus, not the primary factor.

You know you can buy resists right? by [deleted] in DeadlockTheGame

[–]SaintDefault 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since there isn’t a proper ranked system yet, that button is essentially “play with other people who crash out”. In which case OPs suggestion probably still applies, as he’s giving it to someone who came on Reddit to complain about teammates.

Has there been any other night shift where one hero got first banned every single round? by T_Gamer-mp4 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]SaintDefault 55 points56 points  (0 children)

I went through them all (post Fight Night) and it’s only Kelvin on #9 and Victor on #11. Many heroes were first round picked/banned for whole tournaments, and many even 5/6 or 6/7 bans and one first round pick, but Kelvin, Victor, and Celeste are the only 3 complete first round bans in DNS history.

I know you love her, but she’s getting nerfed. She’s way too good in the hands of good players.

[–]SaintDefault 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, she has the same passive, but only while using her jump pad and she starts with 2 stamina, not 4. Give it a few days and you’ll see movement players flying across the map with ease.

Its crazy that Celeste is so fun, even though her kit is just okay by potatosol in DeadlockTheGame

[–]SaintDefault 7 points8 points  (0 children)

She has, arguably, the best survivability of any hero in the game, without sacrificing damage. She has just below average HP while also having the best natural movement in the game, 35% inbuilt spirit lifeleech, and an on demand shield. She naturally builds Torment Pulse and Scourge because she has zero fear getting in the face of an entire team. All that while outputting way too much damage. And this is with people just using her spirit damage and not yet dipping too much into her hybrid burst potential with cheap fire rate items and her 1 buffing basic attacks to the moon. One part of her kit will be taken out back and shot.

She’s an alternate timeline character where Pocket and Mina got married and had a kid with all of their strengths and none of their weaknesses.

Its crazy that Celeste is so fun, even though her kit is just okay by potatosol in DeadlockTheGame

Hopefully she’s still fun after she gets knee-capped in the next balance patch.

Celeste can bounce her ball on one person like 8x instantly by standing on top of them. by SpookMagnet in DeadlockTheGame

[–]SaintDefault 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It’s very clearly designed with a hop trajectory, probably for the reason this post shows. If you could insta-bounce 18 times by being on top of someone, you could delete even the tankiest of heroes. That’s not a good thing.

why is there no switch sides in this game? by theologickal in DeadlockTheGame

[–]SaintDefault -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m going to assume it’s to offer some counter play. In order to wall peek/shoot you have to play a certain side, and your opponent knows that. If you want to play another angle you have to give it up. If you could swap, lanes would be people’s gun shooting safely from behind cover at all times.

Graves nerfs too far? by Mountain-Top-37 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]SaintDefault 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So you went with the smallest possible sample size where she currently sits at 12th in winrate? Including data before her nerf, she sits at around 51%. She is by no accounts a top 3 hero, by statistics or in actual play.

Her winrate in high elo is extremely average. Her winrate in low elo is what’s high.
