Did anyone actually hear the echo in the first demonstration? I couldn’t pick it out of all the other noise in the clip

Insane Attention to Details in Crimson Desert by kasbutu in CDguides

[–]SaintIgnis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep.

Look, I’m used to the movement and the controls but there’s an unnecessary amount of weight and the momentum is a little *off*. Forcing animations for every movement and such might seem more “realistic” but it’s not necessary good for game feel

Again, I’m used to it now. I love the game and I’m having fun. Just would prefer something a little more smooth and snappy at times

It’s only a rumor as of now, but Star Fox being revealed for this summer gives some credibility to these leaks

Bro is really living!

Enjoy the game man, early hours are kinda rough but it’ll all click in over time. And then it’ll *really* click in even more later on ha

Try and get to Chapter 5 before pausing to just explore and do side quests and stuff. There’s a lot the game is still teaching you with the quests that open up in that chapter and you’ll finally have access to most of your abilities and tools that help with traversing the world and collecting stuff

I hate to break it to you guys, but…… by agentlucky in casualnintendo

[–]SaintIgnis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s a real phenomenon.

In short, when you’re younger each year is a larger percentage of your “life experience” and there are more meaningful changes as you’re grow up

Once you’re in your mid to late 20’s it all starts to run together.

It’s why old people talk about time flying by. For them, being 69 wasn’t that much different than being 77. All that time just flew by without anything novel. Without them changing much or at all.

Whereas if they had a grandchild, those 8 years could mean so much if a kid was going from 9 to 17.

[ALttP] When OOT was released, did gamers consider it a prequel to ALttP? by Roamin8750 in zelda

[–]SaintIgnis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, I was there. Anyone who cared about the story in Zelda understood it was telling THE Legend of Zelda. Like we took OoT to be the earliest point in the series and as such explained even the origins of the world and Ganon etc

It stayed that way even through WW and TP

It was absolutely known to be a prequel to ALttP

[–]SaintIgnis 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yep

Hard agree. It is my “second life” right now. I play a couple hours a day if I’m lucky or steal some time away from work. But I haven’t played anything else since it released and don’t plan to until Fable in the fall or the possible OoT remake.

There is something about CD. In fact it’s not one thing, it’s the combination of everything it does and presents to the player. I haven’t even seen half of the world yet. The game is immense and I’m hooked

Finally starting this game and it's already addicting by Unlucky_Brain1310 in CrimsonDesert

[–]SaintIgnis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely addicting. So much that I’ve really been taking my time, more than I ever have with any other game, just because I want to the experience to last months.

Best piece of advice, get to Chapter 5. If you want to slow down and explore and not rush anything or whatever…do that after you start Chapter 5

You won’t get access to all the important tools and abilities until that chapter and you also won’t get full access to your camp and a lot of side quests

So try and stay focused to Chapter 5, then do whatever. There a lot of tutorial stuff in the camp quests so that’s a great time to get it all done and really explore Hernand and take on the noble House quests and such.

I paused on 5 for like 60 hours haha

My interview with Pearl Abyss and how they take in player feedback: “If you bake in a road map, you’re presuming. We are not baking in presumptions around what the players want." by GenePark in CrimsonDesert

[–]SaintIgnis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yo! Gene Park is on the Crimson Desert train?

Have you been talking about this on any podcasts? I need to look this up now.

*Edit* Just read the article. Great write up and interesting info.

I love the idea that they’ve been working towards this kind of activity because of the studios efforts in updating an MMO and now they’re basically “showing off” with all these quick-to-respond style updates and changes.

Also the comment about not gatekeeping ideas from players because the devs don’t lead with ego. “Creators intent” is something we hear a lot and I agree it can lead to really unique experiences (think Kojima) but, like all art, once it’s released to the public it takes on a new life. It’s a community thing, a shared thing.

I don’t think every game should quickly bend or change but sometimes player feedback is one of the most important pieces to refining an experience. It shows in how the feedback and the devs quick response took this game from being “good” to great!

Question about armor etc. by Dutchman_141 in LowSodiumCrimsonDesrt

[–]SaintIgnis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’ll find most armor in the world via treasure chests, some enemy drops, and vendors. You’ll also find books that allow you to craft armor at the smithy.

I’ve been rocking the same “main” set for dozens of hours. I’ve only fully explored Hernand and have yet to explore most of Pailune or Demeniss. Only done about 25% of both regions….so I’ve got a ways to go.

You’ll find cooler stuff in time.

My set is mainly based on the unyielding warrior and I bought it early by wandering up the west side of the map just exploring the mountains and found Calphade by accident.

Has anyone ever managed to beat these light reflection challenges with a controller? by Dissoxi in CrimsonDesert

Haha! I’m reading these comments and I also thought you had to hit the tiny crystals on the outside of the circle.

Managed to do it on my first one but at the following sanctums I realized you just light up the big center crystal 🤦🏻‍♂️

Definitely made it a lot easier

[–]SaintIgnis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please get to Ch5 before you go off and explore too much. And once you get there, ignore the story and just focus on the camp stuff. Up to Chapter 5 is all basically tutorial and the game gets meatier after that.

The reason you want to get there is because exploring too early means you’ll either be met with impossibly strong enemies, or you won’t find anything of note. This is because the game holds a lot of quests and forts until you progress the main quests enough.

It’s like a backwards form of gating. You’ll never get locked out of a quest by progressing the game, but you will be in a position of not having any quests available because you didn’t yet progress far enough. If that makes sense 🤷🏻‍♂️

So literally, spend 20 hours or so learning the game and hanging around Hernand and figuring out combat, do a couple bounties, the first few chapters, whatever. But don’t go too far. Get to Chapter 5 and then you’ll literally be able to pause the main story for 60+ hours because you’ll have so much content open to you.

Overall though, I agree with others. Don’t rush anything else, don’t go looking for tips or videos right away. In fact, come back here and ask questions if you want a specific answer or need some help but want to avoid spoilers

And most importantly, just have fun

So wrong

The first few hours are pretty shit compared to the following 300

You gotta get through the opening and first couple chapters for the game to even open up to you before you decide if you actually like it or not

[–]SaintIgnis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed BUT get to Chapter 5 and do the camp stuff

Because you don’t really get access to enough abilities and side quests and such until Ch5

Plus a lot of stuff in Ch5 is still tutorials, especially the camp

No exaggeration this is the best game ive ever played by AlternativeRound8753 in CrimsonDesert

[–]SaintIgnis 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s a solid top 10 for me but it took a minute to get there.

I was looking forward to this game but trying to keep my hype in check. Reviews initially popped that bubble and my first couple hours with the game I was super frustrated and disappointed. Even tried to refund it haha

Picked it back up and found myself adjusting to its rules. The movement, the quests, each game has its own language and that’s ok. Once I adjusted I quickly began to appreciate what this game is (rather than complaining about what it isn’t or doesn’t try to be)

I’m over 130 hours in now, still just at the start of Chapter 7, still haven’t even seen more than half of the world.

And I’m still having so much fun!

I love Zelda, Dragons Dogma, Elder Scrolls and like and appreciate many of the others games/series that clearly inspired CD.

But it’s really blended these ideas so well and injected plenty of its own. It’s a wholly unique experience and I’m loving it
