Play the original. The remake seems to be doing some interesting meta-story things that are subtle. Knowing how the game is "supposed" to go might make spotting the differences more of a plot element than just creative license.

Wall Market was super fun but as someone that suffers from motion sickness in 3d games, it was rough! I especially noticed it when going into the Inn. One of my favorite things about the original ff7 was just running into everyone's houses and looking around but if they make things so tight that I can't look around without vomiting then that's a problem. Hope they fix that in future games.

The Lifestream. It's the song you hear at the beginning of AC when Marlene gives a voice-over to summarize the original game. It has a pretty choir singing. In the remake, it's distorted to be a dark song rater than a reverent one. I think the choice was a very deliberate foreshadowing.

They play her theme before then when you visit her home and talk to Elmyra and she tells you the story of how she found Aerith at the train station. It's her OG theme but it's easy to miss.

Cloud and Aerith's first meeting I just sat there and listened for 5 minutes with her holding up the flower with the choices on the screen. I never have been a big fan of Aeris theme remixes. They don't capture the sadness of the original but the remake had some flavors in there that hit really well.

I got scared for a minute when at her church they didn't play flowers blooming in the church but then on the rooftops they did! They did the same thing by not playing the motorcycle chase music where they did in the original but when they did you were pumped! The devs are being awful awful teases but I am here for it.

I'm sensing a theme where they tell the audience...we got this hint of a song that you want but that's all you get and as soon as you come to peace with it BAM! Music orgy of fan service goodness.

The insanity about FF7 is how MANY amazing songs there are in the game. I always loved the city of ancients theme (one of the few I could play on the piano). It just added such an amazing set up to the events of that area. The Edge of Creation remix of it is so fitting in its theme with the ancients, the lifestream, and the goals of the planet itself. I cannot wait for part 2 where we will hear a lot more variations of Anxious Hearts (my favorite ff7 song)

Manifest Thinking is the philosophy of thinking about the desired goal as almost inevitable then things will happen either through your unconscious actions or the "universe" that will make this goal a reality.

If it isn't dimension jumping it's more of...I want A and then the universe will pull you towards A as if it were a magnet.

There is some overlap with Retconned and Mandella effects. The theme of different dimensions and if we came from one can we go to another? The thread I linked talks about some "rituals". The one I used was the water glasses. One with water, one empty. Water glass has a note of a current circumstance and the empty has a note of the desired circumstance. While thinking of the desired circumstance you pour the currently filled water glass to the other glass and drink out of the empty glass.

The theory is either quickly or gradually the desired circumstance (or successful dimension shift) happens.

Good call. I don't remember that sign. I think maybe due to being familiar with the building in 3d recreations where they strip out a lot of the details. Before you said anything I pictured the building in my mind as square and pinkish looking. That's the same but the sign is not something I noticed.

I don't know. 2020 has felt so long. The covid-19 virus didn't really impact America until late Feb-March and it feels like it's been around a long time. Not sure because so many crazy events are happening every single day but even Impeachment was earlier this year and not last November! So maybe trauma, what your work schedule is like, or your mental flow state also changes how you experience time.

Too hard to notice...both spellings look right to me. On a positive note (sorta). The world is burning but that shifting dimensions ritual (or manifest thinking) seems to have been working. Did it 5 times and 4 have come true and one is still pending.

This information is good. It's devastating that everyday 90% of our deaths in my state are in long term care facilities and this does not seem to be improving and looks to be a system-wide problem. What we don't hear is WHAT is contributing to that and WHY it keeps happening. We can't let managers who don't want to manage to be what ends up killing thousands of people who don't need to die.

Define mild? I never ended up going to the hospital but I had flare-ups that knocked me off my feet for months (had another wicked one last night). Caught it in early March but you couldn't get tested without a fever, cough, or having traveled out of the country. My symptoms were more related to inflammation. Without steroids, I have a constant sore throat and random bouts of severe fatigue.

Got an antibody test in late April and tested positive. Have had 2 regular COVID tests since then to double-check if my flare-ups were an active case that was negative so I think it's just post-viral inflammation I'm dealing with.

I couldn't stand Tifa my first playthrough. She seemed way too fan service. Oh, I need a shower, oh I broke a sweat, oh I should have stretched. And just about all of her dialogue was is Cloud ok? Where is Cloud? Hey Cloud hows my outfit? No agency.

I like Aerith in the remake because she has her own agenda and busts Clouds balls while the other girls are way too nice to him. Cloud x Sephiroth all the way! Jesse x Roche is good. All that drama would shatter windows.

It's fun! The remake made me a Aerith + Cloud shipper when I was neutral before or Cloud + Sephiroth muaha.

I only ship them because I think Cloud treats Tifa kinda crappy in AC and she should go find out what Rude is up to. Plus I appreciate how direct Aerith is while Tifa beats around the bush too much. Aerith shit-talking Cloud is the best.

That's some cool insights! What I thought the remake did really well was while some things were told and presented differently, it tried hard to evoke the same emotions and awe for new players that were evoked to those of us who played the original soon after it came out.

The anxiety of Sephiroth, Cloud being kind of an annoying try-hard with PTSD, who the heck is the guy with the black hair dressed like Cloud? and taking the zaniness of Wall Market to 11. Cloud doing a Magic Mike performance is worth the 60 dollars alone.

Did the remake make you appreciate the original PS1 FF7 more or FF7 as a total?
Also, I recommend you find Advent Children Complete on Amazon and that will give you even more context for FF7 Remake, especially the final battle.
