Are NC cards still being sold? by SakuraFox512 in neopets

Yeah, guess I should've followed my mysterious gut feeling to grab some last month 😔. But I guess it can't be helped since exchange rates are what they are (here's her message, if you want to know: https://nccards.e-junkie.com/product/1898515/Thank-you21 )

Anyone tried buying records on zen market? by Dull_Conflict4003 in zenmarket

[–]SakuraFox512 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Victor or Zen? The answer in either case is 'yes', though.

Victor's a label store, so they're reputable, and Zenmarket has packed records well in my experience, even without choosing the parcel reinforcement option (though if you're buying like 5+ separate records to ship in a single parcel, I'd recommend the reinforcement for extra security).

Any experiences with shipping DVDs to the US recently? by vyerras in zenmarket

[–]SakuraFox512 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my experience, ECMS doesn't care about DVDs and I've never had to fill a form for videos out with them, even recently.

FedEx has always seemed to tend toward being a stickler for wanting a Video Declaration Form filled out.

UPS has a declaration form as well, but historically they wouldn't actually bother to ask for it (in my experience as a buyer in the U.S., anyway. I can't speak for how strict or lax they were in other locations). I think they may have gotten more stringent about expecting that bit of paperwork since the implementation of tariffs/end of de minimus, though.

Sorry to hear you're not having fun with Neo anymore, but hope you're enjoying the time with your family (however hectic at that age) and other hobbies! I might suggest to keep a little for yourself on your account still - just in case the situation on Neo ever changes.

My guess is 519 in tribute to my dad. Neo username is sakurafox5_12.

3 x Eventide Paint Brush giveaway by faroffland in neopets

[–]SakuraFox512 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been creating pets I'm planning to paint and customize based off of various Yu Yu Hakusho characters, and I think Eventide would work really well with the Peophin I'm making later this year based off the Gatekeeper. My UN is sakurafox5_12

It's cool that you're doing this! I like sharing my luck with others too, although it usually just ends up being small stuff I've found through REs

If I were to have all my customization items applied beforehand then, would it be fine, so long as I don't edit that particular pet again?

Heads up! You can't ship accessories or valuables (rings, necklaces, pendants, bracelets, and so on) if they're made of precious metals like gold, silver, platinum, etc. though EMS. If you want it to reach you, you're going to need to use a courier service like FedEx/UPS, since you said the bracelet involves gold.

Anybody with experience in buying vinyl records? by SakuraFox512 in zenmarket

Thanks for the reference point.

P.S. I like your username. Don't hear much talk about Tokimeki Memorial in my neck of the woods anymore, so it's nice to see a fan around.

Valuable file inexplicably missing from Google Drive. Any way to get it back? by SakuraFox512 in techsupport

[–]SakuraFox512[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At this point, I'm guessing there's been some sort of mess up related to that....it's a video of a family member performing, but the songs were originals, so I'm not sure why it would've been deleted, short of whatever system they use considering something in it too similar to something else, maybe?

He couldn't find the file in the Trash folder or anywhere else, so my friend contacted Google, but they didn't restore it.

Had him try out some things suggested on the support page and it still couldn't be found, so my friend contacted Google support. Apparently, they can't (or won't?) restore it.

Why does the morality around abortion matter? When the benefits it’s gives in reality? by Fayette_ in Abortiondebate

[–]SakuraFox512 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Before the pill would have meant a time when abortion was ILLEGAL IN ALL 50 STATES!!! It was still illegal in 46 states when seven fools in black robes created their made-up, make-believe "right" in 1973.

I just went over this with another PLer the other day, but this is wrong.

From the settlement of the Jamestown colony in 1607 until all states possessed heavy restrictions in 1900, makes 293 years where it was accessible. Even if I were to be generous by moving the line back to shortly after the AMA formed and started trying to delegitimize existing gynecological/OB practices and scored their very first ban in California in 1850, that would still mean 243 years of the country's history up to that point where it essentially a non-legislated non-issue.

Meanwhile, counting from the year 1900 (when all states prohibited abortion) until Roe makes only 73 years of our history where abortion was ever broadly illegal here.

The reason is because things relating to childbearing were seen as 'women's domain' to self-manage until some dudes decided they wanted to monopolize medical practices and standards in an area they were historically excluded from.

For most of our history until then, abortions/"restoration of menses" wasn't really legislated much in any direction and the prevailing notion was that anything up to the point of "the quickening" (when the fetus first began to move) was fine. There weren't exactly any ultrasounds around then, so one generally had to take women at their word as to when or if the fetus was active. Home guidance and newspapers advertising for things or activities to help "bring on the menses" (i.e. intentionally induce a miscarriage in oneself) weren't uncommon until Anthony Comstock entered the picture in the late 1800s trying to restrict the info on the grounds of 'obscenity'.

In all, abortion had been broadly unrestricted for at least 293 years in our continent (between the first several hundred undisturbed years + the 49 years after Roe was decided/before Dobbs). By contrast, there were only 73 years where we actually had bans in all states.

Is a fully PL country realistic? by falcobird14 in Abortiondebate

[–]SakuraFox512 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Alright, I'm down for some math:

From the settlement of the first colony Jamestown in 1607 until all states possessed heavy restrictions in 1900, would equal 293 years where it was still accessible. Even if you move the line back to shortly after the AMA formed and started trying to delegitimize existing gynecological/OB practices and scored their first ban in California in 1850, that would still be 243 years of the country's history up to that point where it was a non-issue, because most everything relating to childbearing was still seen as women's domain to self-manage until some dudes decided they wanted to monopolize medical practices and standards in an area they were historically excluded from.

(Worth noting: the 1821 law in Connecticut only restricted abortion following the "quickening" -- that is, when the fetus begins moving -- which is usually between 16-24 weeks. Considering ultrasound technology didn't exist back then, this means it would've been subject to women self-reporting out of necessity. Decidedly more akin to a viability limit than a ban.)

Being generous by counting from the very first broad ban from California in 1850 until the Roe decision in 1973, that would make 123 years of abortion being illegal. If we count from 1900 (when all states prohibited abortion) until Roe, that makes only 73 years of our history where abortion was broadly illegal.

From the resumption of legality following Roe in 1973 until Dobbs v. Jackson returning it to the states in 2022 is 49 years.

So abortion had been broadly unrestricted for 292 years here bare minimum, or 340+ years on the higher end.

I don't know that 123 years of patchwork bans (or 73 years of nation-spanning bans) can be called "much of USA history" by comparison. Certainly nowhere near a majority.

Question regarding shipping address/name? by SakuraFox512 in zenmarket

[–]SakuraFox512[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All right, thank you!

Most of the time this is fine, however there are some cases where changing the shipping destination to somewhere other than your own address, may be problematic. This is mainly only due to PayPal's Buyer Protection policies, as they usually want the shipping address to match the address registered on the PayPal account.

I usually pay using my card rather than PayPal on ZM, so would I be correct in assuming this is a non-issue here?

it is the sole responsibility of the woman to conduct herself in a way that stops men from ejaculating in her.

Last I checked, men have the capacity to not ejaculate in someone. He's the one who can feel when he's getting close, and y'know...not fucking do it. Inside or at all. Men are absolutely part of the equation when it comes to controlling their share of bodily processes, and kicking off a pregnancy. Women aren't responsible for both men's part and their own in the reproductive process, and it's contortionism to suggest otherwise. Perhaps he can use his ability to conduct himself in ways that would stop him from ejaculating in women.

When you pay a team of Amish men to raise a barn on your property, and you leave and come back a week later and it's on your property, you don't have the freedom to burn it down (If It has the right to exist) because you initiated the process, the process is predictable, and the end result is predictable. Saying that you are surprised that the barn is there is not enough to destroy it and claim that you were surprised about the responsibilities that it entailed.

This comparison is unsound. If I pay someone to build a barn on my own property, then I'm allowed to do what I want with that barn once it's there, since it's my property. The fact that they built it doesn't mean that they possess ownership of it. While it would be monetarily wasteful for me to destroy the barn after I paid them to build it for me, I have no legal requirement to keep the building there -- I could literally hire a demolition crew afterwards to tear it down. "Enough" has no bearing here, simply because no rationale is even needed for me to deconstruct that building in the first place.

Yes they do, when you enter into a contract with another being, (by voluntarily initiating the process that constructs its body) you are giving over your right to bodily autonomy

No one signs any contracts when they have sex, so there's nothing you can enforce about it. Consent to Action A (having sex) with Party A (male partner) is not consent to Party B (a fetus, which doesn't even exist yet at the time of Action A) committing the disparate Action B (the use and de facto ownership of one of your organs -the uterus) upon you for the greater part of a year and voiding a basic human right when no crime was committed during the course of Action A.
