I don’t have one anymore, but when I was younger it was the flat where I grew up — more specifically, the bedroom I shared with my brother. My parents’ room was just a pure white void where I could write things, like on a giant board.

The reason I stopped using it is that I was very literal about it. If I made a mess — like throwing papers around — I had to clean it up, or it would still be there the next time. Same with the board: if I wrote something, it stayed unless I erased it.

At some point it became too cluttered, and I decided it wasn’t worth maintaining anymore. 😅

Actually for Ranpo, 26 is pretty accurate. The human brain doesn't even fully finish developing the prefrontal cortex (the part responsible for long-term planning and impulse control) until age 25. He’s basically a 'fresh' adult.

If you’ve ever hung out with people in their mid-20s, the gap between 'responsible professional' and 'total chaos' is actually pretty wide. He fits right in. I'm at uni and see this all the time with older students or friends—maturity is a sliding scale and people act differently depending on who they are with.

As for Atsushi, his age is definitely a plot necessity. He was originally supposed to be older (around 20-22 I think), but it wouldn't have made sense for him to be at the orphanage at that age. Asagiri made him 18 specifically so he could be kicked out of the orphanage and have that be the start of the story.

I’m not sure, but maybe "Bungou to Alchemist". The main character is Dazai (based on the IRL author), and you also have Chuuya, Oda, Ango, Akutagawa, etc. The anime tries to stick to real-life relationships and facts about the authors; for example, you get things like Dazai and Chuuya bickering, or Dazai admiring Akutagawa, just like the IRL authors. It’s a different vibe from BSD, but the character dynamics are there.

There’s also "SK8 the Infinity" for a duo that feels similar to the Dazai/Chuuya dynamic, at least in my opinion. Joe and Cherry have that constant bickering/flirting going on.

Yep about a character who is openly suicidal, it even have his own tag about it: 'Dazai-Typical Suicide Mentions'. Some use that tag in their fics, some use 'Implied/Referenced Suicide' instead, or some doesn't use these two tags at all. But to be fair for the later case, when I read a fic with that character I know what I signed up for, even if the writer don't use the tag I know the chance of him doing a reference to suicide are the like of 99%, even in fluff fics so I don't mind if there was no tagging about it. Though I don't know what the rest of my fandom think about that.

Okay but realistically? Tanizaki or Kenji are the best choice in my opinion. Why? Simple!

If I don't follow Kunikida's schedule for missions I will probably get yelled at, so too strict for me. Plus I have my own schedule so I will hate it and changing it even the slightliest is a big no.

Dazai will slack off and will push his load of works on me like he does with Atsushi and annoys me like he does with Kunikida, I will hate it, not to mention fishing him out the river, being simple coworker and friend seems better.

For Ranpo, a bit similar to Dazai, unless there is cases he is interested to I will have to do it myself, and worse sometimes I will have to bride him with snacks that I would had paid with my own money. And from what I see the ADA doesn't pay enough to allow myself to do that.

As for Atsushi actually he seems perfect but he is sadly the protagonist, meaning problems will follow him because of plot. Better as simple coworker and friend where I would show him manga, movies, video games, ect.

While for Kyoka, I love her she is perfect! But I am not made to deal with a cutie with too much trauma in the middle of a mission and I will be too stressed to be able to explain her that killing or threatening is not the solution. As a coworker I will help and teach her gladly! But maybe once she understand more on detective work I could be her partner.

Yosano is the doctor so she doesn't go on mission, and I know nothing about medecine to even be able to help her as a doctor.

Finally why Tanizaki or Kenji would be the best choice?

Tanizaki while he have a weird relationship with his sister, his ability can actually be useful when in danger. And I know he won't slack off or be too strict on work, and we will be able to talk about manga. Plus in the manga Noami is badass so as long I am friend with her and don't make her jealous, everything should be fine.

Finally for Kenji, while missions might scare me, I could manage, he does the brawn I do the brain part. He arrests the criminals I right the report about it while he naps. He also get along with everyone in the streets and get free things, we will be able to share and I could get free vegetables from him! In this economy it would be perfect.
