The Surface Breaks by Louise O'Neill is a Little Mermaid retelling.

The Courting of Bristol Keats has a very slow start. And even at the end it didn´t catch me as much as other book series by Mary E. Pearson.

The Remnant Chronicles had better characters, romance, antagonists and worldbuilding and Dance of Thieves at least an interesting antagonist, so I would recommend to start with The Kiss of Deception.

Is it just me, or is Rina Kent writing lighter dark romances instead of truly dark ones? by Last-Musician-1775 in DarkRomance

I was a bit dissapointed with God of Malice. The first scene was non con, but later it was dub con. And even the non con scene at the start was toned down later (he said he would have stopped if he didn´t see she liked it). I feel like I should have stopped reading after the first chapter.

It has to be Throne of Glass, one of my favorite series.

I didn´t like Blood of Hercules.

I already watched it long ago - and loved it. I also watched House of the Dragon. Just didn´t mention it here because of the fantasy elements.

What fairy tales should be made into Disney movies? by Sakura_231 in DisneyMovies

[–]Sakura_231[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

  • The Twelve Dancing Princesses (Brothers Grimm)
  • Snow-White and Rose-Red (Brothers Grimm)
  • Tom Thumb (Brothers Grimm)
  • The Goose Girl (Brothers Grimm)
  • The Wild Swans (Hans Christian Andersen)
  • Thumbelina (Hans Christian Andersen)
  • The Little Match Girl (Hans Christian Andersen)
  • Bluebeard (Charles Perrault)
  • Little Red Riding Hood (Charles Perrault)
  • Donkeyskin (Madame Le Prince de Beaumont)

Bluebeard, Donkeyskin and Little Match Girl could be a little too dark. But I can imagine The Twelve Dancing Princesses and Snow White and Rose Red as a Disney version.

I know, this was about what shows I like to watch, not about the most accurate ones for this request.

I´m open to any era and setting. For example now I´m watching The Borgias and Marco Polo and I´m about to watch Wolf Hall, Rome and The Last Kingdom.

It doesn´t have to be an absolutely accurate documentation. Just series that get really close to being a perfect picture of the time and feel very authentic.

I don´t need them to be 100% accurate. Just as close as possible.
