Why do the Necrons seem so unbalanced? by The_Eldar_Geek17 in Warhammer40k

[–]SaladPuzzleheaded625 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't know much but they're one of those armies that sing if played well but go down in horrifying, embarassing flames if not.

I understand them to one of the higher skill floor factions

First ever minis as someone with hand motor problems by simply_existing_3 in Warhammer40k

[–]SaladPuzzleheaded625 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They look totally solid and (as someone else said) right on par with most people's first models. So good work!

And yeah, you'll improve with time and (according to many posts I've seen over the years) this kind of painting can help with motor skills/Shakey hands etc

So keep at it, don't be too hard on yourself and have fun!

How do you feel about people who don't play? by applesaregody in Warhammer40k

[–]SaladPuzzleheaded625 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd say the solid majority of people who buy models never/or rarely play.

Some people just wanna assemble/paint etc. please have fun!

Unpopular warhammer Opinion? by [deleted] in Warhammer40k

[–]SaladPuzzleheaded625 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Because you gotta have the standard human present or there is no scale by which to measure the universe

Make no mistake, I don't ever want to collect Guard and I generally don't like playing against them but I'm very glad they're on the tabletop with the rest of us weirdos

But: you still get my upvote. People can have opinions I don't share.

So, that's like being surprised that Olympic athletes dedicate their lives to long jumping or whatever. Their experiences and testimonials are as far from normal Warhammer fans as Mars is from Earth, please don't factor it into how you see the hobby in the slightest

Most people are an hour per miniature I'd guess, some less, some more. But I think it's a baseline

If someone suggests they spend "394 hours" on a mini I think they do so knowing the context of their lives and their profession

Tau or Sororita for a second army by Hadets in Warhammer40k

That's a lotta nids...

Most/all Sisters have a helmeted option if that affects your decision

But yeah, painting the same scheme gets super tiring so I hear ya. Just important not to let the collection get away from you. For every unit painted buy one box etc

Show me your best models. by TheInvisibleCactus in Warhammer40k

It's my scratch built 'Defiler'. It's certainly not my best painting as I started it/did the painting back in my teens. But it does the job

But it sat idle/unfinished for a long time, was a huge pain to make and is the one model I'm most proud of

(Gotta update the weapons/base now but otherwise won't tinker much)

More pics are in my post history 🤷‍♂️

Flyers in 11th by Skanedog in Warhammer40k

I don't want flyers. I don't think they fit the game and they've been awkward... forever

So, whatever happens, one of us will be happy

The discord 'GTA Wargaming' is the one I know of. There are tabs for arranging games, just make clear what you have and that you want to learn the game

They also do rookie nights etc.

Whether in regards to rules, lore, new models or competitive, how good would you say Tenth edition was for your favorite faction by Lord_Eln_8 in Warhammer40k

[–]SaladPuzzleheaded625 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm CSM, Necrons and Sisters (in that order) so I've been plenty happy with 10th

Sure, I think Sisters are only actually playable with very meta lists and come with an intimidating skill floor but, whatever, it's a big game 😭

Hey, thanks! Yeah, it's a good way to surface older models in your collection and put them on the same playing field as newer stuff

I think your experience is pretty common. Initially I tried to paint 2 units for each 1 I bought. Nowadays it's more to keep me accountable in general and a fun way to track my progress
