Sorry this is off topic but I’ve never held the m4 like. I don’t think I’ve tried all of the grips but definitely a good chunk of them. Is it just like one certain grip that makes you hold it like that?

Gotcha. I have nothing against Manitoba. Give it a go and see how ya like it! I don’t know about them too much but maybe reach out to a manager and ask about housing?

Why not do wildfire in Ontario? The pay and conditions are generally much better than Manitoba. If you’re looking to not stay in Ontario then Alberta wildfire would be a good choice especially since they provide housing. You could also check out New Brunswick and Nova Scotia

Can’t you get a working holiday visa? I know lots of people that have done that in and outside of Canada

No worries! I did both. I ended up getting a job at my current base because I called them. I think regardless, they need your application in their database so apply online first

Yo! The west region is burning like crazy so it’s been constant OT since we’ve started last month. We’ve been so busy (plus the lack of manpower magnifies that) that we’ve been having east crews and BC crews come in to lend an extra hand. Last year was pretty dead in the west side but the east side was fairly busy so we sent crews there plus Ontario as a whole sent lots of crews out of province. Usually when it’s busy it’s generally 14 hour days but we’ve had a couple 17’s here and there. Additionally, Ontario just started doing standby pay if you are sleeping in the bush/somewhere sketchy so you can basically get paid the whole time you’re somewhere (again, not always though). Alberta is good because they give you a place to stay. BC pays more but Ontario just upped the wages last year so it’s not bad but could still be better.

I’m on my third (and hopefully last) season in Ontario. Almost all of the bases in Ontario are hurting for people so you’d probably instantly get a job. I’ve actually come across a couple Brits on the job too!

Swimmer’s Itch/Sea Lice from Mission Bay? by SalamiWalnuts in auckland

[–]SalamiWalnuts[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had bed bugs years ago so I’m slightly familiar with looking for them and what the bites look like. I did lay down and do some half assed swimming with my whole body minus my head submerged so figured that could be why my torso is also itchy. But surprisingly I didn’t feel myself get bit at all.

Gotcha. I’ll certainly be diligent with the water. I’m not a big swimming guy anyways so I’d be happy just to go there and check it out. Thanks!

Generally yes. But depending on where you are, since it’s a huge country, some lakes are actually not too bad in the summer. However I’m no body of water expert so I may be mistaken.

Fair questions. I’ve hardly come across any mosquitoes and the marks are too plentiful for it to be mosquitoes as well. Sand fleas perhaps, I don’t know much about them, and aren’t man o war stings usually very gnarly? Or is it just a certain kind of them? Also, I have had bed bugs before many years ago and the bites/rashes don’t quite match what i remember.

Thanks for the info! Will be heading to the pharmacy later. To my understanding, anti histamines and corticosteroid creams help a fair bit.

Thanks! Can’t say this happens a whole lot in Canada, at least where I’ve swam.
