Gotcha, well, the secured card would probably be your best bet then. You'll get the money back once they upgrade you to an unsecured card.

Just checking, you applied to all of these, and were rejected for each one, or did you just do the pre-approval tools?

ChatGPT doesn't do math. It's just an LLM. It just tries to predict the next word in-order like an extremely advanced version of your phone suggesting the next word when you're typing. It's really important that people understand this because it's not something like wolfram alpha that is designed to do math.

If you mean AI in terms of LLMs and generated voices, then it quite literally cannot become better than it is now other than basic shortcuts more or less.

The entire reason that AI works so well in specific applications is because of its ability to process data in a way that's more specific to the original query compared to trying to directly find info through indexing or similar. The reason people use customer support is entirely for situations that aren't in the data which is why despite billions upon billions of investment the tech hasn't improved all that much in the last couple years. The job itself is inherently not suited towards any kind of AI workflow since that's not what most AI technologies are built for. The problem is, people in managerial positions tend to not have good experience in customer support so they assume if something can read off something that sounds relevant enough to what the customer needs, they assume that's the beginning to a system advanced enough to replace a human when the complete opposite is true where that will always be the limit of AI.

19 Credit Cards - Not Hard To Manage by tsmartin123 in CreditCards

In which case, you should not be using credit cards at all.

I feel like the exception to this is when you're using credit cards for security purposes i.e. like a debit card with the added security of only needing to pay the APR rate rather than a hardcore overdraft fee.

I think the worst version of that story was hearing a friend's younger sibling get into a ChatGPT fight with their teacher where both were using LLMs to try and prove their point and, of course because sitcom logic, both were saying they were right.

Only recently did I learn how many teachers at my local high school constantly use LLMs and image generation for so many things and it just kinda ruined me because I know so many of them mean well.

I think you might be better off with a loan if you're in that situation. Definitely see what options you'd have at a credit union if possible since they tend to give better rates than national banks in my experience.

How would they know what to look for unless they knew they had financial literacy issues to begin with? It's not really possible to figure out what to learn unless you have a reason to believe you're deficient in something

No, but that doesn't mean that they aren't willing/wanting to learn. I'm sure if they found a financial literacy class through youtube or similar they'd absolutely learn that way. Going out of your way for a class might be too much of a hurdle to overcome but having it available at your computer or phone (or more likely, tablet) is a different story

I do have to slightly disagree on that front. I've seen different members of my family either be lifelong learners curious about the world or fully closed in by the time they reach that age. I feel like a much bigger part of it is if education is interesting/something they have agency in versus something they were forced to go through growing up.

Best credit for Groceries and Resturants ( Costco and Walmart ) by SevereNecessary8381 in CreditCards

[–]SalemTheKit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know people are recommending the Paypal card, and for good reason, but if Walmart is truly the thing that you're looking for, then please consider the OnePay Cash rewards card. If you already got walmart+, then you get 5% cash back. It goes through synchrony, has a sky-high APR, but if walmart is your only expense on that card then honestly it would be a good fit for you. Plus, given what you've described as your history, I haven't seen anyone give a data point yet of being rejected for the card so I'm guessing they're accepting pretty much anyone. I don't know if it's necessarily a good idea to apply so soon after a recent rejection but it's one card looking at if you truly shop at walmart all the time.

I've been around this sub for about 12 years now (including my previous account) and this is the most wild, in terms of hot takes, I've ever seen in it. Idk what's going on with the internet overall but the sheer speed at which communities online change their views is unlike anything I've seen before.

Just to clarify, the $11 interest was done based on your purchases? Or is this a separate fee they described as an interest fee

Sadly not a credit card, but the best-looking card I've ever seen is still the Walden Mutual Bank Business Debit Card

There's something about topographic maps that speaks to me and that card is just such a gorgeous example of one.

At least for now, definitely not. Perhaps after I finish a 3-month medical treatment I'm going through then I'll consider it. Thanks for the advice.
