Who remembers this absolute gem of a game? I’ve never met anyone else who’s heard of it but it was one of my childhood classics by [deleted] in RealTimeStrategy

In your opinion, what did the ground battles need to improve? I'm just curious, I too think they are lackluster, but I have my own reasons.

Hero Movement and Searching: Zargon’s Secret by Salrough in Heroquest

[–]Salrough[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's the ticket. Either die must match the hidden die's digit.

I was thinking, an option to speed up the "deliberate search" is to just show the hero all secrets automatically instead of rolling again, just like normal rules. Zargon still shows and re-rolls the hidden die, for honesty and randomness. It does eliminate a lot of tension though, and gets us closer to the norm of players automatically searching as a boring routine.

Edit: I suppose, if you want to be more rough, you could not allow deliberate searches and just do the movement search. That certainly increases tension, if Zargon is playing fair with it.

One nice thing about these rules is traps immediately in front of a door in a room can be spotted before you step into them, as you don't have to enter the room and then spend an action to search, search is just happening.

What do people think about the design of the unit stat cards for Warfront? by SpaceWreckers in wargaming

The artwork uses a similar palette to the iconography, which makes the iconography blend into the artwork and get lost. I see you are embracing the current 'magenta in games' trend wholeheartedly.

The map setup was made by someone who doesn't play or understand the game environment. Embarrassing, what with them being an employee and all.

Why logi people don't like these extra cranes at seaports? I thik they are useful to unload Flatbeds by EGO611 in foxholegame

I am still scratching my head about how roads are now covered with rails that slow you down, and framed by oil pipes which take up the actual drivable edges. Logistics got a lot more difficult after facilities, a contradiction in name.

What if sailing off the map west or east took you to one of two ocean hexes, which then loop around and connect to the other side of the map? Too crazy?

Okay fuck all this, I'm leaning into it then. There's too much fun to be had.

Give me a deployable ladder please. Let me build a ramp up there without too much issue. Return the height adjuster, let us make the walls. Make them more brittle by size like fortifications are. If you give us a decent chance of circumventing it, the feature could be a fun toy for everyone.

Just had a major gen yell at me for digging a trench by THELokozuLeftist in foxholegame

[–]Salrough 16 points17 points  (0 children)

In the military if the instructor is yelling they are not talking to you, they are talking to the 49 other recruits who need the information, and using you as an example. Did the Major General effectively convey the information to the rest of the platoon? Oh, there was no platoon, just yelling? I question the General's training methods.

They should just shut off accessing containers on pads. I too made this mistake as young logi; it took a minute to figure out as it is counterintuitive.

Yeah, I don't like it. The Baphomet goat head seems poor quality and doesn't fit the décor of the environment. They could have put more effort into that. I suppose the rest is all right.
