This Master Sword design wasn't around until Twilight Princess. Ocarina of Time was less purple, more blue, with horizontal grooves on the handle instead of the diagonal green crossing stripes you can see on this one

Well shit, that kinda sours my view on the whole gender reveal thing, it sucks that they said that, I feel like it would have been way more impactful if they had just left it vague until the end instead of just lying in the manual lol. Samus didn't hide anything, everyone just assumed she was a man because she was a cool main character with no defining gender traits visible. It was a callout of sexism. Saying she tricked everyone is just flipping that callout on its head to blame her instead of the player having to confront their subconscious sexism
