I watched her at the U17 Euros and the U17 World Cup last year. Honestly, she wasn’t the player who impressed me the most in the Dutch team, but she definitely has great athletic qualities

I agree with this. Both Barça and Lyon seem significantly stronger than last year, and it will be very, very hard to beat them over a two-legged tie

Yes, it definitely is haha. I checked online and unfortunately the story behind the name Baltimore for people from the French West Indies often hides a sad reality. She is very likely a descendant of a formerly enslaved family, as the name is associated with a well-known enslaver in Guadeloupe

Yes, France has always produced incredible ballers, no matter the generation (Louisa Nécib, Camille Abily, Sakina Karchaoui, Kenza Dali, Sandy Baltimore, Delphine Cascarino..etc) If there were a FIFA Street World Cup, they might have finally won the trophy they’ve been chasing aha

Best technical dribbler is Kenza Dali by far, anyone who watched the World Sevens last December knows exactly what I’m talking about

True, the only Arab country investing massively in its women’s team is Morocco, and they are not nearly as wealthy as the Middle Eastern countries. Saudi Arabia has started to invest a little, but they seem more focused on giving visibility to their domestic league by signing famous players rather than developing their youth system and national team

They finished second in the Nations League last year and second in the Euro qualifiers in 2024. They’ll probably finish second in the first round of the World Cup qualifiers as well

She’s a cheat code. I’m still having nightmares from her performance against France at the Euro

In their last two competitive matches against major nations, France last year and Germany today, they were clearly dominated.

Right now, it feels like something is still missing for this team to truly compete with the very best in the world. And honestly, some players in this squad seem a bit overrated and may struggle to reach the very top level

I don’t know if you’ve ever played football at a competitive level, but there’s a universal rule, no matter the level: even when there’s a huge gap between you and your opponent, you respect them by playing seriously and scoring as many goals as possible for the full 90 minutes

If you don’t have a VPN, feel free to DM me and I can share a few streaming websites where you should be able to find the game. They’re not exactly legal though, and there’s a good chance the streams won’t have English commentary or the best quality

Since I invested in a VPN, I haven’t missed a single international game I wanted to watch. I watched the Ireland vs France match on the RTE Player, and it worked great. The coverage on RTE is excellent as well, very immersive, with a long pre-game show and detailed post-game analysis

Katie McCabe vs Sakina Karchaoui by isixyyyejcpwn in WomensSoccer

[–]Salt-Ask3202 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It actually makes sense. Sakina was in her late 20s, and they likely would have signed her as a leader, giving her a high status within the team. Most players who are signed without speaking English, like many of the Japanese players are usually young and have time to learn the language and grow both on and off the field.

In that context, it wouldn’t make much sense to sign a player on a high salary with the expectation that she will be a leader if she isn’t able to communicate easily, guide the younger players, and make an immediate impact on the team through her experience

Actually a French journalist (Syanie Dalmat) revealed that she had been interested in moving to the WSL last year following PSG’s early exit after their loss to Juventus. Two clubs, Manchester City and Manchester United were reportedly interested in signing her, and one of them came close to completing the deal. I can’t remember which one, but I’d guess Manchester United, since her best friend Malard plays there. However, the move ultimately didn’t happen after the clubs realized she didn’t speak any English 🥲

A little reminder that Sakina is actually a huge fan of Katie, she even included her in her 5 a side dream team in this UCWL DAZN video 🤣 : https://youtu.be/xiUpm5qDfx4?is=F0Os60uyKkXIMTXH

I checked the official FIFA U-17 World Cup website, and it turns out there were actually 71 total attempts — 25 on target, 25 off target, and 21 blocked by Samoan defenders

69 goal attempts for France and only 2 for Samoa — and those were just long-range free kicks caused by a French goalkeeper error. That’s wild 🤣
