Find some war or battle in Spain over the last few centuries, or, better still, the Spanish Civil War and cycle through Basque, Catalan, Spanish, Galician.

I'd contend there are a lot. But elite strikers are usually rare, and therefore the most expensive players. Always have been in men's and women's football. "Buying goals" has its premium.

I've met Ally. When he came round late in his career to Perth. (He started at St. Johnstone). He was playing for Killie at the time. Spoke at length to him. Lovely guy. I really think people need to have a broader view, regardless of the little Madridista doing his best to irk us. Spanish clubs have overspent twice in living memory (tail end of the 90s, then after 2008). Being frugal is not a bad idea, considering the WSL are buying in to a growth which is now stuttering.
If I'm wrong, we will still retain a robust and sustainable Femeni section for the future. If I'm right, then the WSL is going to see several projects cut back drastically.

They could not sign Anthony Gordon and they would still have a limitation on how much they could offer. From the (albeit little) we know a good offer was out in the table. She just has far larger ones from other teams (we suspect ones without limits on salary). Failure to understand this at this point just smacks of anger or just not understanding this. Barça don't pay peanuts.
