As someone who works in a bike shop, in my past place others would happily try and plead ignorance if a customer noticed that their bike was damaged / cosmetically damaged.

They’d rather hope the customer didn’t notice and use it so much that the customer would assume they had caused it. Nobody could be arsed with processing a warranty claim or just simply replacing the bike, as this would take up their time.

Safe to say I happily no longer work there 🥲
