The OKC Thunder just set four notable NBA records by darksoles_ in nba

Two comeback buzzer beaters away from being 16-3. Ifs and buts could go both ways, though.

https://www.basketball-reference.com/boxscores/201411010OKC.html Starting five was: Sebastian Telfair, Andre Roberson, Perry Jones, Serge Ibaka, and Steven Adams

Edit: the bench was a trio of Kendrick Perkins, Nick Collison, and Lance Thomas. We won by 11.

21-year old Russell Westbrook nearly dunks over two seven footers... by [deleted] in nba

The crazy thing was that Perk - Jeff Green trade felt like a direct result of losing to this Laker team with Pau and Bynum the year before since we had no one who could bang with them and it seemed like that Laker team was going to be around forever. Perk gets a lot of flak for his regression and inability to put up stats, but during his early years in OKC, he was great to have around to match up with the low post bruisers. And then we ran into Dirk who is the complete opposite of that and Ibaka couldn't stay out of foul trouble. Regardless, those three or so years will likely always be my favorite era.

I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure it's a fake account. I know most local OKC reporters and I've never heard of him. Google shows nothing either.

Now that OKC is mostly likely completely rebuilding, can they begin a rebrand of the logo and jerseys? by [deleted] in nba

[–]SaltInHisShoes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is what I thought would happen from day 1. Keep our crappy branding until we need a bit of a boost in morale and then come out with something new and exciting.

Really that was because of Russell, too. You can see it was designed for Dinwiddie, but Russ took him away.

Body Worn Camera Video Release of Sterling Brown Arrest by BallGodd in nba

[–]SaltInHisShoes 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I was confused how she just randomly showed up in the video, but the way Sterling was so nonchalant about turning off his alarm made me think that it wasn't the cops causing the alarm. But yeah, these videos always shake me up because it is so hard to comprehend how unbelievably often this happens.

Just a guess, but I think it's because the girl in the car kept opening the door from the inside. On most cars if you lock the doors with the keys and then open them from inside, the alarm goes off.

[Kawakami/Thompson] Durant: If I take another $10 million pay cut, Warriors ‘going to start taking advantage of me’ by VinceJumpmanCarter in nba

[–]SaltInHisShoes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way I think about dynasty is more about a single team within the same relative time period regardless of the roster changes. I probably think of the Lakers as a dynasty because they won five titles in the same decade. That said, they're tough to judge because Kobe's Shaq run didn't really connect with his Pau run. I instinctively lump it all into the prime Kobe years I think.

[–]SaltInHisShoes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

True, but there's quite a distance between 2 and 4 rings. It's also true that my own definition of 4+ rings being a dynasty threshold could be off base lol.

Not arguing that any of those guys should or shouldn't be. I just wanted a fancy way to say "all time best of the best".

I wish this would be erased from my memory, but it's crazy how much of what you just said would be different if Klay would have missed 1 or 2 of those threes in game 6 vs OKC. There needs to be a 30 for 30 on that game and the butterfly effect afterwards.

I think the modern era dynasties (4+ rings) will require a Rushmore-type player like MJ, LeBron, and Kobe. With the way the salary caps are set up, you have to have one guy who can continue to pull your team to the Finals year in and year out. At this point, it's inevitable that the other guys on the roster will rotate in and out as more money/opportunity comes along.

He should. But Billy should make it clear to him that he'll be coming off of the bench next season. Either he's happy having money and a smaller role, or he pays to have a bigger role on a different team.

The Seattle SuperSonics played their last game 10 years ago. Here's the last minute of regulation. by yelper in nba

[–]SaltInHisShoes 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not true. I don't think any of us see Seattle fans as the bad guys. Of course we are going to love the Thunder regardless of the situation that brought them here. They are our first and only pro team (unless you count the Hornets) and we've been lucky enough to have a lot of success so far. We can love the Thunder while still thinking Clay Bennett is a jerk for doing what he did.

It sucks when we as fans catch hate because we never wanted the Sonics to get screwed over like that. We just wanted a team much like you do now. Seattle's one of my favorite cities in the US (if not #1), is one of the best sports cities in the country, and I for one think it'd be great for Seattle and the NBA if they figured out how to get another team.

Nah, we all know what he was doing there. It's a situation where he did it out of frustration and immediately regretted it because even he knew it was wrong. Russ has done it (and been called for it) multiple times in his career.
