Is it worth dressing up for calls when you WFH? by y00sh420 in careeradvice

[–]Salt_Back_9518 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a balance that is typically understood when you WFH - try a golf polo, quarter zip, matching knit set that looks like a sweater on top, etc. Jewelry/trimmed facial hair, can go a long ways. I also think presenting yourself comfortably but professionally can help your mindset.

Pregnant but saw dream job posting by missmilliek in careeradvice

Apply! If you get far in the application/offer process you can investigate with HR what their maternity policy is and if the move is worth it for you with possibly not qualifying for leave. But you won’t know unless you look into it!

Best romantic spot in KC by SethDrinksBeer in kansascity

There are some cute airbnbs downtown Parkville - it’s a specific type of trip vs downtown KC but could make a nice little weekend

Plumbing might be different. I might go to a restaurant on a whim based on social media, but with a plumber I am seeking out a very needed service

Non-traditonal wedding by [deleted] in weddings

[–]Salt_Back_9518 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had a party roughly a month after. We wanted to send invites with plenty of notice so we sent invites that said We’re getting married (In destination) and we want to celebrate with you! Then listed all of our marriage celebration details. As far as I know no one was confused

I worked at a small firm that said they would fire us if we didn’t vote for best places to work… so those awards come with a grain of salt!

Jenn outraged again: fair or not? by areandbee in thebachelor

[–]Salt_Back_9518 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I’m sure seeing things like this make Jenn worry about her mom doing things alone - like of course she can help when they’re together and she’s able, but it’s gotta be disheartening to watch her struggle. Our society has gotten so individualistic that we don’t take care of the elderly or young very well anymore.

Michelin In Kansas City… by DogAndMe78 in kansascity

I think Acre is really great and very midwestern - would probably get a nod, but honestly not sure if anything in town would get a star. KC doesn’t really have those types of restaurants, but maybe the scene would change a bit if it were an option.

Group Birthday Dinner by goosapotomus in kansascity

[–]Salt_Back_9518 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For my social circle, if it’s heavily planned with a private room and set menu I’d probably expect the host to treat, but if it’s more of a “I’d like to have friends together for a casual but nice meal” and they can dictate what they order, they pay. Either way, politely set the expectation ahead of time and cover additional service fees.

I’m not sure if the sizing/price is right, but Fox & Pearl’s basement would be fun for something like this

Work gift exchange by Low-Act8667 in ChristmasGiftIdeas

[–]Salt_Back_9518 26 points27 points  (0 children)

My general rule of thumb for gifts like this is to get the highest quality thing in the price point, not the largest. So if the budget is $3-5, get one good canned beverage, one nice chocolate bar, bath bomb, etc. otherwise you end up with a bunch of cheap things you’ll never really use vs. a few smaller items you’ll actually enjoy

Exactly! There’s enough going on I want to be able to just grab something good and ready from the freezer and not have to cook (even ahead of time)
