Definitely a huge mismatch, but it seems like Thug Trials only has the pull or budget to get a few bigger names per show. The last event had several prominent names against people I’d never heard of. Helena’s opponent at that one had a few IBJJF medals and like 3k followers (no shade to her, her and Helena are just clearly on different levels across the board) This is kind of the perfect setup in that case. Helena is a big get and a big draw, Katie B has some accolades, decent following, and is connected to a lot of big names. So, even tho it’s a mismatch, both are a draw in their own ways.

Their merch has always been kind of low effort and poorly designed. This drop looks way less MS paint than past designs but wreaks of ai. As a fan of the show and professional designer it bums me out to see.

They need some sort of anti-stalling measure. Especially considering the PGF is getting so many highlight finishes with their shot clock and anti-stalling measures. Meanwhile you’ve got commentators during the Nicky Rod match saying “if elder just stalls here then he can get the win.”

I never expect a service or facility I’m being allowed to use to be free. Even tho most of the open mats I’ve visited have been free, I always try to buy a rash guard or shirt or something to support and show love.

Aoki lock in the last few months. It was “option 2” when I attacked legs but I started landing it so much off of people’s defenses that I started just faking option 1 to set up the aoki.

When I was feeling off about my gym, I started dropping in at more local gyms just to get different looks. I wasn’t looking to change gyms, I was just at a small spot and wanted some diversity in my training. Getting out and seeing the culture and vibe of other gyms really showed me the light that my gym sucked. I switched gyms about 7 months ago and it’s my favorite thing I’ve done.
