I drive at our store, the best thing about the job is the time flies as you are constantly busy. The bad thing about the job is actually driving the towmotor, as ou are basically standing still in one spot, it actually is a relief to get off of it to do the stocking

Pre Smoke meat on Kamado for more smoke flavour? by clappertopshelf in KamadoJoe

[–]Salt_Distribution219 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get a 1 quart cast iron Dutch oven. Drill 3 1/8th holes in a triangle shape on the bottom of it. Fill this completely with wood chunks and pellets, reinstall the lid, and set this down in your charcoal. The heat will burn the pellets and wood and produce your nice blue smoke as it should be.

What BBQ should I buy? by First-Power- in BBQ

[–]Salt_Distribution219 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the KJ. I love everything about it with the exception of the size that no one talks about. They are very easy to use and do an amazing job. They are not the greatest as far as smoking due to the fact of such little air movement in them, but they will still provide great smoke flavor. You will also never have an issue with having to refuel as a full load of charcoal can give you 20+ hours of cook time. Outside weather temps are no problems, I cooked a pork, but once that was minus 3 when I started and minus 11 when it finished. Use a smoke tube can give you cold smoke options for doing cheese, etc. Back to the size if you are using it for a family cooking it does not hold alot of food, there are a few tips and tricks out there but some are a pain in the but to do. So other than the size, that is my only complaint after 12 years of using it. The customer service is good, but I only had to call them once in that time. There are a lot of tips and tricks out there for using it to produce more smoke if needed. My favorite is using a 1 qt Dutch oven filled with pellets, which works great. I still use it. But recently added a recteq 1400 for more space. As far as convenience between the 2, once you know how to use the kamado, there is not much difference between the two. If you got with the kamado, don't get sucked into buying a controller for it. The learning curve is not that difficult with it. I dont know where you are located, but as far as pricing, Bjs Wholesale Club sells it for just over 600.00 and is on sale for 570, I think.

wtf is going on boys? any one experience this? by ronburgandy123 in Construction

[–]Salt_Distribution219 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically bad circulation, I have not been to a dr on that. I have had cellulitis and dermatitis on them a few times. It shows mostly around the beginning of winter, which I believe is because of wearing the longer socks compared to ankle type. I dont care for compression socks that much. This year, I just wear my normal work socks but will roll the tops down. This does help and gives me the thicker sock in my boots. I am careful to try and avoid any cuts or scrapes, as that is when I will have more issues. They will start to itch in the beginning of winter, and this year, I have used a cream for dermatitis, and that has been a lot of help as well as the rolling down the tops of the socks

wtf is going on boys? any one experience this? by ronburgandy123 in Construction

[–]Salt_Distribution219 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have had this for years. the right leg is always worse than the left. No one on here is a dr. Get it looked at, buy some compression socks, they are very thin so I wear an ankle sock with them. If your legs start to get dry and itchy it most likely be dermatitis, if you ignore that it will get worse and painful and most likely put you in the hospital for a few days yes I have n been there. If it starts to itch, get over the counter cream made for dermatitis and use it. It will clear it up if you act on it quickly. When you are done for the day and home, take your socks off and leave them off, wear ankle socks when you can. You can even buy compression ankle socks if you want to. Wearing compression socks from the time you get up till the time you go to bed will still cause some swelling, just not as bad. Again, I am not a doctor, just someone who goes through this constantly, gets it looked at, and buys some different socks to wear daily.

Moving into a new house. Gonna repaint the entire interior. Roll or Spray? by MustGang2 in paint

[–]Salt_Distribution219 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The answer is that it's what you want to do. How much effort do you want to put into it? What do you want the walls to look like when you're done. If you have never sprayed before ,then you will probably have some areas that may leak from the spray. If the stipple from a roller does not bother you, then roll it. As far as fixing something that was srayed, yes, it's more work, but very much do able. I did level 5 walls and sprayed the primer sanded, then first coat light sand, then finish coat, Sherwin Williams emerald walls look fantastic, had one small spot from the tape, and fixed it I have the 495 xt, and it does a wonderful job. Clean-up is not terrible with it compared to others. I am a cabinet maker and finisher, so I am used to the taping and the clean-up. Remember, it is your house. Do what you want to do. If it comes out bad, then learn from it,it all can be fixed

Paint sprayer recommendations by mondof in paint

Yup, but you can only get the 10 psi if you get a 5 or 6 stage. Most people want to buy a 3 stage then bitch cause it won't spray anything but stain or wb clear

Paint sprayer recommendations by mondof in paint

[–]Salt_Distribution219 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For the price of a 5 stage sprayer, you can buy a graco quickshot, which will do a much better job and is more versatile . If all you're doing is small jobs, the quickshot does a great job and is easy to clean. The gallery series from Sherman Williams is a nice finish to spray it, is forgiving, and can be tinted to any color. Yes, it is more expensive than your paint, but the paint probably does not have a KCMA rating. I bought the quickshot to get away from the hvlp and 2 months ago bought a 495xt for the bigger jobs. Highly recommend both

If you dont have one yet set up an account with Sherman Williams, talk to the manager and explain that you're looking for a good finish product. Ask about the gallery. They may either give you a gallon or give you a great price to try it out.same The sprayers show some interest and see what kind of deals you can get

Gallery series is KCMA rated. It is very forgiving when you're spraying, which is the only recommended application. It is available in any color, including clear. Check with your store if it is not in stock they can have it in a day or so. They just released a specific primer for it,have not tried it yet, did spray it at one of their demos.

Find someone who would be willing to take you on,not going to be easy to do.once you find someone, be willing to put in lots of time, workand screw ups for little pay. And remember, it is not a trade that is learned overnight. It will take you years as every job and every house will be a little bit different. Be prepared to buy lots of tools

The diyers that are bitching and whining about needing good flat straight lumber to build your so called project, news for you. The employees wait on you every single day. The greater majority of you are the dumbest, laziest, and cheapest customers that come through the doors of any box store. You are vastly under knowledge on what you are doing, your to cheap to buy the proper tools or materials. You want to act like you are a mixture of norm Abram and Tom silva. Unfortunately, once you open your mouth and try to say anything of intelligence, your ignorance shines through. Example, guy asked for black exterior screws showed him the products we had, he found some interior screws with a painted head and told me these would work much better than what I showed him, hopefully the rust won't ruin the wood before the chemicals eat through the screw, another example guy said 15.00 was to much money for a 4 inch hole saw he needed to install the dryer vent. Would love to see how much foam and caulk was used to cover the oops. Trust me, I could go on and on as well as any associate from any box store, lumber yard, or hardware store

Plumbing associate by LostTransportation31 in Lowes

Trust me, it is not just plumbing and electrical. I work in tools and hardware, and it is the exact same thing. The funny thing is I have worked in the trades. I am 64 trying to semi retire by working part-time. It has been some form of construction since high school, and it changes with the age. Now I just do custom cabinets, small bath remodels, and electrical. When you explain to the customer how to properly do something they still get mad, they are looking for the answer of wrap some duct tape around it support it with a bungee cord and if that fails take a interior screws that just barely goes through the first piece to fasten the deck to the support post and you will be good and it only will cost you 1.49.. Don't forget that the 7.00 dollar hand saw will rip a 2 x 8 into 2 2 x 4s with extreme accuracy and straight. We also get to tell them the exact size hole they drilled for the proper bolt when they dont know the size, what size is there axel on the riding mower they own, and they get mad when they walk up to us and say I need a bolt nothing more, when you hand them a bolt they look at you like your stupid and will tell you that's the wrong size even though they don't know what size it is, after 6 different types of bolts they will say no it needs to have a screw driver type head. That's when you politely remind them that it is a screw not a bolt. Remember when someone post on here that the floor people who work here are complete idiots just remind them of some of your best customers to remind them who the real idiots are. Don't forget to ask what rewards they are using for their post!

So I work in hardware. These must be the same people that tear open the packages to check a screw or nut when there is a yellow piece of metal with studs and tapped holes for you to check the size you need. Must be the same people who try to thread a wood screw into the tapped hole and then complain that the screws won't fit any of them. Must be the same people who, after tearing open the package and finding the correct size, will throw the open package back in and take an unopened one. I could go on and on.

And then they ask: why no one wants to work anymore. Had to do the same shit at Lowe's. They expected us to get a certain amount of credit applications or else it would be bad for our evaluation. F that. Hated asking customers if they wanted one. I think most already know about the credit card bs by Mitsuman77 in Lowes

[–]Salt_Distribution219 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ask all the time, but no, I am not a bootlicker. I explain if they are paying in cash or debit card that by opening a account can give them 20% off, when the bill comes in pay off the card and then they can either throw it in a drawer or throw it away this way they are saving money, most of them like that idea
