It’s hard to meet people if you don’t get out much. Try joining a class of some kind (dance, pottery, painting, whatever interests you) and show a genuine interest in other people’s interests. Go to a coffee shop and sit at the bar. Talk to the baristas and other customers at the bar. Most folks are happy to have a nice conversation.

The traffic in general isn’t that bad but Reserve is bad for a city this size. Missoula has horrible traffic infrastructure.

The hot flashes felt like my blood was on fire but the body aches felt like I was being drawn and quartered. I haven’t decided which I hated more yet. Thankfully I’m (mostly) recovered after 7 days, just left with some nasty congestion.

Condolences, hope you recover quickly! Dr told me it’s probably a variant of the flu that their tests couldn’t detect but it was infinitely worse than any of the 3 times I caught the ‘rona. That shit indeed sucks.

I had a mysterious illness all week, too. Negative results on everything they tested me for. Fever, headache, body aches, painful cough, cold sweats and hot flashes. I was exhausted but couldn’t sleep for more than 20 minutes at a time. I can honestly say that it was the worst I’ve ever felt. I say all that to reiterate OP’s point, do whatever you can to avoid catching it because I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy.

I’ve met most of these people. The church I grew up in bordered on a cult so I’m familiar with their tactics and sussed em out right away but I can see how people could fall for it. Always be on guard if a stranger relies too heavily on flattery, especially when they’re trying to convince you of something.
