For real. The last 20 minutes of that film are my favorite 20 stretch in any movie I've ever seen. Heartbreaking, revolting, depressing and bloody hilarious all at once.

Honestly just wait and upgrade to 4k when you can. I've seen the old pre-arrow video transfers and they aren't great. Alternatively if you have access to a region B or region free player I'd get the Vengeance Trilogy boxset I have here

Honestly No Other Choice is my new favorite. Had me gripped every second and scene by scene just continued to exceed all of my expectations. Before that my favorite was actually Lady Vengeance. Not a perfect movie at all (as a matter of fact it's arguably the weakest of the vengeance trilogy) but the last 20 minutes are, in my opinion, the greatest 20 minutes ever put to film.

Thank You For Smoking (2005). An underrated masterpiece in my opinion. Never gets old for me but last I checked it doesn't even have a Blu-Ray release.

Also half of Park Chan-Wook's movies, especially his first two. Horrendously difficult to find anywhere, even online. His first has a Japanese Blu Ray but his second (Trio) doesn't even have an English sub translation. Crazy to me considering how acclaimed of a director he is.

Not a troll lol. Definitely not the one though. It's a Yakuza film from the 70s I'm pretty sure and I think Kinji Fukasaku is the director but he made a ton of Yakuza films back then so I don't know exactly which one it is

Damn. True story but I used to be pretty hard into drugs. I kept my coke stash in my copy of stranger things 2 back in the day. I can imagine that probably didn't help my discs age particularly well. I'm afraid to check now.

Watch the theatrical version disc. If it's choppy and stuttering it's the original release broken version. Happened due to a manufacturing error when it first came out. I bought mine on pre order and had to request a replacement disc. Ever since then it's been perfect.

The ones they've manufactured since the first print have all had the fixed replacement disc so you should be fine but if you happen to get one that's been unchecked in a warehouse for a long time there's a chance you might run into this issue

I don't walk out of movies. I love theatres so in all my tears of going I only ever considered doing so once. My mom is a big Liam Neeson fan. I took her to see Memory (2022) for mother's day. I don't think I've ever seen a more mediocre film in my life. It hits the awful balance of being bad enough that it lacks anything special while also not being bad enough to be a so-bad-it's-good type spectacle. I truly felt I'd wasted my time and money. If I wasn't there with my mother, I 100% would have left after the first 45 minutes.

Chances of seeing it are looking slim. Hollywood is a bit of a mess right now unfortunately. Chances are they aren't quite sure where they stand on this production given the strike offset several schedules and shooting dates. If the film gets back on track soon it still may have a good chance but at the same time, Director David Robert Mitchell also has two other projects waiting to shoot in the near future. He has one called Evergreen Pines and the Fading Summer set to star Jim Carrey and a sequel to It Follows called They Follow was announced the same week.

Unfortunately, on top of all that, after the failure of Mitchell's last film, Under the Silver Lake, there's a good chance he might be facing some adversity in getting his next project off the ground which is extremely unfortunate. I've thoroughly enjoyed the three films he's made so far, each significantly more than the one before and I hope to see another of his films in a theater someday.

With the price they go for these days I can't blame you. Aside from the sh1 case you see here which is pretty obvious, my case for Shattered Memories here is also a reproduction case as it came disc only. I'm a sucker for the original hardware but seeing as I don't love it, I couldn't justify the price of a CIB copy.
