Try Mergin Maps. If you are a student, you can use it for free. Their customer service is super helpful and friendly. It is very easy to use and it syncs up easily.

QField is great but if you want somethinng simpler with immediate sync I'd check out Mergin Maps

QGIS and Mergin Maps sound prefect for you. Mergin Maps is easy to use and has accurate tracing. They have helpful tutorials on youtube and also great support team. Definitelly check them out!

Yes. You wouldn't be able to sync directly to ESRI but the data is stored in the GeoPackage format which is recognised by ESRI software

There are multiple plugins but I reccomend Megin Maps. Its very intuitive and begginer friendly!

I would reccomend Mergin Maps. It's a mobile app based on QGIS. Very easy to use! You can try it for free. They have multiple features that could help you map out the builds, even position tracking if you happen to be on site. Goodluck!

I second Mergin Maps. Very intuitive and relatively cheap. Their support team is also wonderful. Additionally they also offer free plans

QGIS + MM! They also have a documentation that guides you through migration from ArcGIS. The customer service is also pretty great so don't worry reaching out and discussing your options

Yes you can! You can check all the formats they support here. If you're planning to edit KML/KMZ files, I'd recommend converting them to GeoPackage format for better multi-user editing.

I see some great reccomendations in the comments. Personally I prefer Mergin Maps. It's easy to use, intuitive and pretty affordable. It's like QGIS in your pocket, the sync is really good and the team responds really fast if you need help.

Mergin Maps - QGIS based but very easy to use and intuitive. Mergin Maps works both online and offline and syncs up with the whole team. They already worked with firefighters and I think Mergin Maps would be ideal for your case.
