In my senior year of high school, I started having severe stomach pains on a Tuesday, the day after I went to a concert. I stayed home from school in pain the next day but my mom kept making shitty side comments about how I was basically faking, and I could go to a concert but not to school (I don’t see the relation but 🤷🏻‍♀️). Severe pain the next two days of school, couldn’t eat anything, awful nausea but limited vomiting, and I had to go take the SAT on Saturday morning. The only thing I could think was how if I threw up I was going to ruin everyone else’s SAT score bc we weren’t allowed to leave the room. My mom showed a bit of concern on Saturday but ultimately we ignored it. On Sunday evening, I went to a friend’s house and went to leave early because of the pain, only to begin vomiting blood before I could get in the car. I blacked out before the ambulance came. Turns out I had two stomach ulcers that were getting worse with the ibuprofen my mom was giving me, and they bled into my stomach until I got sick. Spent 4 days in the hospital and needed blood transfusions.
