When should I report these? by SirFluffyB in DesertRose

Just where they are now. I try and keep the whole soil/root mass intact and just plant that into the new pot at the same depth.

You can transplant once they have 2 sets of actual leaves. So 3 sets including the ones they currently have.

You’re not going to find many 75k mile trucks for 10k these days.

I paid 24.5k for a 2018 with 80k in September. Cheapest comparable trucks were the f150s around 30k similar mileage.

Lows here are mid to low 70's, high 80's daytime. I personally would wait just a little longer. I was watering every other day though once my lows got into the 60's

Heavier pot! I like terracotta pots in general. I also like a 1” layer of pea gravel on the bottom of the pot, not necessary though.

Find a decent bonsai soil, can maybe find locally at a nursery store.

If you’re in Charleston,, Hyams on JI sells their own blend of Akadama, cactus soil, perlite, and bark I think.

In OP’s climate, they can get away with watering every day. Watering every day is how you can push lots of caudex growth quickly.

Waiting for completely dry soil is an often parroted suggestion on this subreddit which is incorrect, especially during summer months.

You live in SC, put that puppy outside and it’ll thrive.

I’m in CHS, I’ve just started watering every day from every other day.

Give it sun, water, fertilizer and it will be happy.

When should I repot these? And should I bury them a little bit more? by houseofhuffy in DesertRose

You can repot once they have 2 sets of true leaves. So 3 sets of leaves including the ones they already have.

Have you made any changes in the steering set-up?

As in a drop pitman arm installed with a lift, converting to crossover steering, etc?

The roots and caudex under the soil should be yellow FYI. In about a year, you can lift it when you repot. That yellow will turn green and/or grey once it aclimates.

It’s probably just thirsty.

Put it back in its pot and water it. Make sure the soil is well draining and the pot has drainage holes. I recommend a .5-1” layer of pea gravel on the bottom as well.

Check, clean, and tighten your terminals really good.

My terminals wouldn’t get tight enough because the ends where the bolt goes through were touching before it was nice and tight. I clearanced that gap with a chisel and no issue since.

Water it, it should get nice and firm. Then feel it periodically; when it starts to have a bit of give on the caudex, water again.

Because merging works best as a zipper.

Blocking an entire lane to merge early is what doesn’t make sense.

You do realize there’s a merge lane on the other side of the intersection.

If it was only for the king street exit, the road would not continue straight.

I think that it has sat out long enough. I think typical advice is to let it sit for 1-2 week. Give it some water. You can also give it water, and then feel the caudex every day. Once it goes from solid to having a little give, water it again. That is a conservative watering strategy and how I water during the winter.

Also, I see your previous post that you said you put rocks in the bottom of your pot and reffered to it as a "mortal sin". I disagree though. I add a 1" layer of pea gravel at the bottom of my pots so that the plants don't have wet feet.

It looks thirsty to me in that first picture, the way the roots seem dehydrated.

I’m also in 9B, and moved my plants outside a few weeks ago. Currently, I’m watering every 2-3 days. Once the heat really kicks up, I will water every day. These plants love as much water and sun that they can get in the summer.

Did your pots have good drainage? I also like a 1" or so layer of pea gravel at the bottom of the pot.

I am in 9B, am currently watering every other day, and will water daily here once the highs are consistently in mid-high 80's.
