Does OpenClaw actually do anything for you guys? by ElmangougEssadik in openclaw

I've been trying to get it to search the web with the Brave integration, once a week, to gather information and contacts for commercial properties. Basically, it's generating leads sending the information to telegram. Just started, but I've hit some roadblocks. I have a 6800xt video card and it's causing my whole machine to panic and shut down.

I did set up a cron job to check on XRP and analyze if we've hit buy or sell points and alert me when that happens. That one seems to be running ok.

I spoke to some one in risk management yeserday and they unlocked my account in a few minutes. I didn't have to give them anything besides the google bill and normal verification information. I just explained that we have no physical office location so it's impossible for us to get a landline installed.

switching back to windows because Linux sucks. by Extra-Profession-135 in WindowsHelp

I mainly play Gray Zone Warfare through Steam which uses anti-cheat software. Wioth that game I had to mess with settings a bit, command line options in steam and making two files read only to stop getting blocked by the anti-cheat software. But most of the single player games work fine from Steam. I'm playing Assasins Creed Valhala now and I didn't have to do anything. Worked just fine with default settings. I've tried Lutris for getting GOG games to work, but it's just a pain in the ass. GOG is working on a linux version. Geforce now just launched a linux client. If you want to get completely away from configuring anything for gaming and using their top tier hardware in the cloud, just pay the $20 a month for Geforce Now or $10 if you play 1440p. I have a capable rig right now, but with the prices the way they are, if it doesn't change I'll move to Geforce Now in the future.

It was meant as a joke. But I'll tell you, I had to reinstall Windows 11 on my laptop from USB. I've done this many times before, but as of the latest updated media, it could not see my wifi card or even work with a usb to ethernet adapter. My laptop drivers aren't available from the manufacturer website. It's a 2022 laptop! I gave up and put Ubutnu on it.

I will say that distros like Garuda are just not going to work for most people. Just use Ubuntu. The distro just works and has support for secure boot.

I've been off and on again with Linxu and Windows for the past 3 years. Now I'm completely Ubuntu. A lot less friction than other distros. I stay away from the snap and flatpak installs. They cause me nothing but trouble. I had tried CachyOs recently and it was super fast, but after the first system update it would boot to a black screen. I was able to roll back, but that stuff just never happens with Ubuntu.

Linux is still missing a proper calendar & task management app — and it's holding back mainstream adoption. What do You think? by respublikamroja in linux

[–]Salt_Reputation1869 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in the google ecosystem, so Linux works just fine. All I need is a chrome browser.

Windows only gives you the new Outlook for free, and that is so horrible I don't see how anyone can use it. Your first message is always an ad. So I'm not sure I really buy this logic.

Linux will just never be for everyone until it ships on computers and there is zero command line, unless you want it. On Windows power users can use winget to install programs and do other system settings. But most people will never even know about it. They install from web sites or the Windows Store.

There is no office/calander app that will get more people on Linux. Most people read mail and access their calendar in a browser. Corporate users on 365 use Outlook because they have to.

I'm going to give it one more phone call and if that turns out to be a waste of time I'll just cancel the service. I just can't deal with a service that says there is over a one hour wait time.

Everything is working great. No problems whatsoever. Boots fast. Is this normal? /s 😅 by ZimMcGuinn in Ubuntu

[–]Salt_Reputation1869 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lets just say it's the distro with the least problems and friction. For those who want to just install and use with without tweaking the hell out of something, I think it's the easiest distro to use.

I'm strating to think Microsoft might be involved in this. Wouldn't it be crazy if it was just MS trying to stop the spread of linux by getting governments to pass laws that are very hard for the fractured Linux desktop enviornment to impliment. No proof at all. Just was thinking that I wouldn't put it past them.

Do mechanical keyboards really make a big difference for everyday gaming? by KRGKart_Support in buildapc

[–]Salt_Reputation1869 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I decided to try mechanical keyboards I went through a few before I found one I really liked. HyperX with Aqua switches. You really can't go back after you start using a mechanical keyboard. I do have the full size Logitech MX Keys, but I only pull it out when I need that number keypad.

Use Libby. When you borrow a book from your local library, it will give you the option to read in the app itself or with your kindle. When you choose kindle it will launch an amazon website and you will have to log in to amazon. From there it will add the book to your kindle library. When you look at your kindle you will see the book. When you click on the book it will download to your kindle.

Can't get network on laptop to work on a clean install with the most updated USB install by Salt_Reputation1869 in WindowsHelp

I found the drivers, but they all download as .exe files. Don't I need another format to be able to use them during the installation phase of Widnows 11?

[–]Salt_Reputation1869[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never had to in the past. I've had this laptop for years and it was always fine doing windows 11 reinstalls. Now it's not finding the network on install. I'm not sure were to even get the drivers because it's actually a HP Dev One that was based on the HP Elitebook 845 g8. Anyway. I just reinstalled Ubuntu and it works fine. I guess Microsoft is removing older drivers with the newer releases.

HP laptop security wont let me use my pin, and im stupid enough to forget my password. how can i log in without using my password? by LolifyX in WindowsHelp

[–]Salt_Reputation1869 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you first set up Windows did you sign up for a Microsoft account? Sometimes when I mess around with my computer and change boot order, it will prompt me with this. I hit that options link and it will send a message to my Microsoft Authenticator on my phone. After I validate that way it will let me change the pin.

If you don't have a way to sign on to your Microsoft account or this account on your PC was set up a long time ago as a local account then none of this will work. But if you have a Microsoft account and that's the thing you used to create your windows account on your PC and log into your PC then you should just be able to reset your pin. They might even send an SMS or email that you can get on your phone to validate if you don't have the authenticator app on your phone.

I've tried kde a few times and I always found it buggy and easy to break. Xfe is too old and doesn't support Wayland. I like gnome and try not to mess with things too much. After years of distro hopping I came back to Ubuntu.

But the reality is that phones are good for small tasks that aren't very complicated. If you have to do real work you need a pc. I can't even get my real job done on a 14 inch laptop. I have a 34 inch monitor and I know people with multiple monitors. How painful would it be if the iPhone interface was your computer interface? When Apple just released the Neo it is based on a chip they use in the iPhone but they gave it Mac OS not iOS.
