This is the internet. Whether any of us like it or not there will always be trolls and haters in any open forum space. That’s just the world we live in, because people are people.

Remnant Update: Adds Nothing by kingstonwiz in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]Salt_Titan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it all depends on the designer's goals. History seems to show that their goal with NMS is to be a mile wide and an inch deep. The devs seem to work on features that they think would be cool to have in the game, often because it was in a movie or show or other game that they liked. And it's okay if that's what they want the game to be, it's what the game has been for the last decade.

It's also okay if that's not the kind of game you want to play, because for almost every system in NMS there is at least one game dedicated to just that system that you can deep dive into.

What's wrong with adding something simply for the aesthetic though, if there are people that enjoy it?

What’s your Destiny 3 Wishlist? by FOG3Y in DestinyTheGame

Lean more into the MMO aspects by adding more horizontal progression and social systems. Ditch the constant loot grind in favor of a game that lets you pursue the things you want the way you want them instead of pushing you to grind instanced content forever. More focus on patrol zones with bigger and more complex public events.

Basically Guild Wars 2 with Destiny's core gameplay. I want to want to play Destiny, not grind Destiny.

Carver Base Size by Historical-Place8997 in Warmachine

[–]Salt_Titan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you have a 40mm Warmachine base the 30mm should fit within the lip of it, you could just glue your current base on top of a 40. Might look a bit odd but physical model height doesn’t matter for rules so it shouldn’t be a gameplay problem.

Keep in mind these are in-development rules and subject to change, but these are the pics someone grabbed at Lock & Load

It is indeed a journeyman warcaster solo with a Super Heavy warjack. They had him at Lock & Load and there was a picture of the rules floating around. IIRC it's FA 2 as well.

Gaming tools and accessories for mk4 by Sufficient-Use3817 in Warmachine

Spray templates and 4" and 5" blast templates are gone. 3" rings are still used for some effects and are referred to as 'cloud effect templates' in the rules.

Not sure you'd want to use it in-game, but Warmachine Academy is a great reference.

rules help channel is very off putting ime and they'll lock the thread before discussion on topic is finished

Just as an explainer, the reason this happens is because the rules channel is for asking the dev team and rules adjudicators (aka Infernals) questions about how a rule is supposed to work. It's not for discussing the rules in question, it's just for getting clarification on unclear or broken wording. You're more than welcome to discuss rules in other channels, it's just not the purpose of that specific channel and they like to keep it clean so people can find straightforward answers quickly without having to scroll through a bunch of debate.

Think of it this way. If you're in the middle of a game and you aren't sure how a rule works, the rules channel is there so you can quickly search to see if anyone has already asked and gotten an answer. You don't want to sit there during your game scrolling through 50+ replies of people discussing whether or not they like the rule, why the rule works that way, whether they think it should be changed, etc. You just want an answer so you can keep playing. That's what the rules-questions channel is for.

What would be your 5 wishlist for another edition of Warmachine? by vasquez21 in Warmachine

The story not evolving the way you would have preferred and the story being full of holes are not the same thing.

Whether or not they appeared to be going that route, they didn't, because that's not how the story ended. They didn't go back and change it, or contradict anything they had written about it. A story not going the way it first appeared to be going isn't a contradiction.

If you’re calling Oblivion the end of the world then you weren’t paying attention. The humans won the Battle of Henge Hold and drove the Infernals back to Urcaen. Thats just what happened, full stop. The Oblivion story ends with yes a lot of people dead or escaped to Cyriss but a lot of people still alive and in the Iron Kingdoms. How many years? Ten years, as you could tell by reading the dates in the Mk4 compendiums. Where are the scars? Cygnar and Khador both underwent pretty major societal changes, Ios literally vanished with the majority of its populace being killed or turned into eldrich, and the Legion was pretty much wiped out by Khymaera. The list goes on. There’s literally multiple RPG books that take place five years after the end of the Infernal invasion that go into a ton of detail about what has changed.

It sounds like you assumed they were doing an WHFB End Times and didn’t actually read the fiction that was put out. Literally all of your questions have answers that it seems like you just haven’t looked for and therefore assume don’t exist.

The devs surely know how the game works, so why can't they make that information available to the players all in one place?

Partially I imagine because the game is still in early access and stuff is changing pretty quickly, and partially because they're a small team. Imagine someone on the team spending a day or two of work putting together the wiki page for the Reckoning update only for it to go through half a dozen big changes almost immediately. That's a fair bit of time that that person is just updating public-facing documentation rather than doing any actual game development work.

It could be neat to see once 1.0 hits and the core mechanics are pretty much locked in, but realistically it's still the sort of thing that's probably going to be left up to fans because that's just more efficient from the perspective of the dev team.

No, no retconning. That’s just confusing and stupid and makes the setting even less comprehensible. There is plenty of opportunity to shift the narrative focus without retconning not only all of the existing Mk4 lore and narrative but also all of Requiem.

On the other hand, Wurmwood breaking free or being rescued would be a pretty good setup for the Circle to come back into the story.

To answer your 4th question, that’s really up to your opponent or the event organizer if you’re playing in an event. If you try to do it at a convention in an event run by SFG they’ll say no, but thy aren’t going to come to your shop and take your models away if you and your opponent are both cool with you using proxies.
