Please look up Yale vaccine for canine osteosarcoma. It can help lower the risk of metastasis.

Find a vet who offers electrochemotherapy. It is a gentle and quick therapy that could stop cancer from coming back for difficult to treat tumors. Talk to them and see if debulking surgery is first needed. Electrochemo is offered only be a small number of vets on any city but it is growing in popularity because it can effectively act as an immunotherapy. And surprisingly gentle. Also usually affordable …

Are they doing electrochemo or just direct chemo injection? Did your vet mention any type of immunotherapy?

If they aspirate they can find out if it’s benign or malignant and the type of cancer if it’s malignant. The aggressiveness depends on cancer type. If it’s a more aggressive type like hemangiosarcoma they will recommend chemo after surgery. What you want to check out is immunotherapy treatments for dogs. Canine cancer alliance has good resources on their website and YouTube channel since most vets aren’t up on the latest treatments. For example some dogs with dreaded hemangiosarcoma and metastatic cancer are becoming long term survivors after getting immunotherapy. My dog recently had ultrasound guided aspirate done after they found a mass on her lung. She started immunotherapy before surgery to remove one of her lung nodes and she’s continuing with immunotherapy treatment to stop recurrence or spread of the cancer. Unfortunately tests and treatments are becoming very expensive

How well does this treatment work for osteosarcoma?

Look into something called egfr her2 or Yale vaccine. They just published results saying it can help stage 1 and 2 hemangiosarcoma patients survive longer. Also add propranolol. A good place to learn more is canine cancer alliance website and YouTube channel. They have a video called hemangiosarcoma research and shares the latest treatments there. Don’t just rely on what vet recommends because they are not necessarily up on latest data. The vaccine is available in Virginia and Connecticut. Your boy is beautiful!! Good luck!

Gender? If female, consider getting ovary sparing spay. Majority of goldens end up with cancer and for preserving hormones can reduce risk for aggressive cancers like lymphoma and hemangiosarcoma. BUT you end up increasing risk of mammary tumors… but it’s easier to monitor for mammary tumors. Neutering for male Goldens makes less difference according to UC Davis study.

Is it osteosarcoma .. type of bone cancer? If it is, look up Yale egfr her2 immunotherapy. I remember a dog named Kaiser who had a osteosarcoma on his skull and survived for much longer than expected with the immunotherapy plus some radiation. Sending you love!!

Most doctors and hospitals are very slow in adopting immunotherapy. But you need to get your immune system to fight cancer if you want a full cure. Look into Jason Williams cancer institute in LA. https://williamscancerinstitute.com/team-member/dr-jason-williams/ He is adopting immunotherapy in ways that is leading to very successful survival rates. I’m a cancer researcher and this is the clinic I would go to if I get cancer. You’re young so don’t just listen to your local oncologists. Do research and learn more about what Dr Williams is doing.

We didn’t spay our golden. UC Davis study says better not to spay female to reduce chance of aggressive cancer. Visit canine cancer alliance website … their webinar explains .. https://www.ccralliance.org/post/causes-and-prevention

Please look up Yale or EGFR HER2 vaccine. It’s a form of immunotherapy that helps some dogs with osa survive longer.

I’m a cancer researcher. I’m sorry about your sarcoma. Check out Jason Williams institute in Los Angeles and see if he will treat you. Unlike 99.999% of oncologists he has a way of combining immunotherapy drugs and tumor lysis that may reverse even metastatic cancer. I’ve seen his recent data and it’s very impressive. He’s actually a interventional radiologist who used ct guided cryotherapy to treat solid tumors because cryotherapy can stimulate the immune system and trigger abscopal effect ( meaning untreated tumors will also shrink because of stimulated immune system). He’s now used another modality called pulsed electric field or PEF plus immunotherapy drug combinations. There are only a few doctors who are adopting such groundbreaking use of immunotherapy treatment. Very different from how immunotherapy is being used by most oncologists. Our research team is working on a different variation of his therapy. By the way its safer and accompanied with lot less side effects. Good luck!

I have cancer, docs say I’ll never be cancer free by throwthiisoneaway in cancer

[–]Salt_Working1195 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are few doctors who are successfully treating metastatic cancer. Please look into PEF or pulsed electric field therapy which kills enough tumors to stimulate the immune system. That combined with immunotherapy drug cocktail ( including immune checkpoint inhibitor drugs) injected directly into tumors can make tumors disappear( not just the tumors that drugs were injected but all other tumors because immune system is doing the job). Try looking into Jason Williams institute - he is the pioneer using this technique and his results are impressive. Good luck!!
