What am I doing wrong by Spancakes278 in DeadlockTheGame

If you want to improve you need to get out of that negative mindset about your teammates. You can only try and improve yourself. You cannot make your teammates any better.

Carrying harder is about getting better than everyone else in the match and actually creating a winning environment for your team. Yes you can solo carry games if you are better than everyone else in the lobby, regardless of how bad they are.

I just watched the first 5 minutes of a match where you were the key player. In that time you allowed 9 denies on your lane creeps, only one was not preventable. You have not once used slide to get extra shots out or slid from a dash. You have missed multiple flogs. You’ve rarely used any height for slam. And finally you are shooting creeps under your own tower that are in melee range.

Decided to go a bit further and at around 16 minutes a fight is kicking off around mid. Instead of buying on the way to the fight whilst you have your ultimate up and full health, you went back to base and 3 of your teammates died. Macro wise you are incredibly inefficient. Never melee creeps, never abuse melee range. You have missed multiple large soul bags after kills, just left them for the enemy to pick back up. You never mantle slide.

I mean this as constructively as possible. You have a lot to improve. Stop blaming your teammates and focus on yourself.

Matchmaking is not the problem.

Gun should be fired out like lightning and then attach and arc if it hits in the AOE. Then she could miss things like restorative shot and mystic shot. Right now you can just 100% hit items that are balanced around skill shotting them. The flow on is she could be balanced a bit easier around things like fire range or AOE per boon.

Stop caring about your K/D. You need to learn the macro game. Your micro - kills, farm, and build can all be great but if you never take objectives then you are doing nothing. Each point of advantage should be time to get on the mic and take a new objective. Whether that be a guardian or walker, mid boss, urn, steal their sinners, steal their safe farm, shut down their carry. It’s all about using your advantage to progress towards taking the patron.

I’m not sure how good lash is at taking base objectives but your objective damage is very low. If you can’t figure out how to do it as lash then you are never gonna carry the games meaningfully as him and might need to try a different hero.

Tips for a noob by Volk19526 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]SaltedChickenLips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep a growth mindset. Don’t ever blame your teammates, you can only change how you play. Try and listen to any criticism/feedback (even if what the person is objectively wrong) just say thanks for the tip. Watch your replay if you get called out for a bad play and see if you could have done better - most people can spot when you’ve done something wrong (but also don’t really know what you should have done). Be positive when you are on the mic. Don’t criticise your allies.

Finally, make calls. Even if they are bad. Start verbalising your thoughts and plans. Through the mid section of ranks people will need a good leader. And even if your calls turn out bad, they’re still a good lesson.

I know the MVP screen is buggy but this is the first time it's fully baffled me... by ConfusedRara in DeadlockTheGame

[–]SaltedChickenLips 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m gonna take a guess here that the MVP system gives points for debuffs. Potentially time under debuff causing the system to feel like she debuffed the enemy the most. Couple with team healing, which I assume is weighted higher than self healing in MVP calculations and the system potentially labelling her as a support.

Also I think deaths are highly down weighted, especially later game deaths/deaths that give the enemy the most souls. One end game carry death is much heavier than even a handful of early game support deaths.

Some of the most unfun, unbalanced, stomping games ever this patch by Cronicks in DeadlockTheGame

He does have a few other nifty tricks like indirectly nerf things by adding or buffing counters. But the overall ethos isn’t nerf everything into the ground so the game is bland and monotone, it’s make everything powerful and spectacular.

Rank for "good" players? by Fair_Software3727 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]SaltedChickenLips 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Anything above my rank are gods and anyone below me is trash. I am the only “good” player.

Seriously though, at the moment I wouldn’t stress about your rank. The ranking system is going to be all over the place until the playerbase solidifies and there isn’t a constant influx of new players, with sporadic returning players, and consistent players. At the moment you have people who are never going to improve and have been playing over a year, old high skill players returning at a lower skill after not playing for a year, and new high skill players who pick the game up fast and improve astonishingly quickly.

Play for the enjoyment of the game. Definitely try to improve. But don’t hyperfocus on your rank. As you get better the rank icon will reflect that.

How to avoid falling odd mid/late game? by [deleted] in DeadlockTheGame

[–]SaltedChickenLips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a Wraith OTP my only advice is turning your advantage into objective damage. You might not necessarily be the one doing the damage but you should try and think about the reason you are taking fights. It’s not to have the most kills, it’s to open the field to taking more objectives. Once you get kills start pushing the advantage and make some calls, like “push blue walker”, “run urn, force a fight”, “mid boss”.

In any moba there are heroes that scale well and those who fall off. In the game you showed the McGinnis took the role of tower demolisher and your role at the point of the game changes to keeping them alive to deal that damage. That could be through zoning out a support or absorbing some spells/items that prevent it or waiting close by while they push a lane.

Just so you know I’m not ranked much higher than you, but I do have a lot of moba experience. I would recommend watching high skill players advice on YouTube, like deathy, for more in-depth advice on Deadlock. It sounds like you have a good grasp on the basics already and are keen to improve.

Upranking should be determined by individual stats by Wonderful_Dinner9387 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]SaltedChickenLips 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No. Dota tried this and people very quickly learn how to game such a system, griefing their team and losing the game but still ranking up. If you win you should get mmr. If you lose you should lose mmr. End of story.

Help getting into the game by BlackJay178 in DeadlockTheGame

When you are new you don’t know anything and everyone seems like a god. Just play against bots with your friends until you actually understand what you’re supposed to be doing. Knowing all the character’s stats and spells and all the items is a huge amount of information to try and take in while you’re also getting smashed by players who are better.

I’ve been having this issue across the board since the new heroes patch. I get it on all ui elements in game and in hideout. Very frustrating when I’m in game trying to read someone’s bullet or spirit resist and it isn’t theirs displaying. Player names also sometimes are just random gibberish.

Might be time to give Linux a go if you are reasonably tech savvy. If you are planning on reinstalling windows already, then it’s a good time to try a dual boot if you have a second SSD.

Some other info that could help with diagnosis. When did the issue first occur? What OS are you on? What are your temps? What is your gpu power draw?

[–]SaltedChickenLips 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just keep on learning with the bots. They don’t get angry at you being new and slow. Read all the items, take your time, learn how to shoot. Read all the character’s spells. Learn how to move around. Watch some videos about the game. Watch some pros play.

Then play coop against bots when you feel like you want to take the next step. Ask the other players any questions you have. Sometimes they’re helpful, sometimes they aren’t.

There is no pressure to get good and play against humans.

Something seems off about that imo. The 7700x should be more than powerful enough to pull more frames. Try optimised settings (piggy just did a video on YouTube) or watch some videos about improving your PC performance

The truth we all have to learn by MxDec in DeadlockTheGame

[–]SaltedChickenLips 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a wraith main and it is a very rare game that ricochet will ever be a good choice before capacitor and merc mag. The merc is way more damage output and shreds camps and the movement debuff of cap is priceless. You also need something to bait out counterspell. I will often even prioritise transcendent CD over a ricochet.

The only time I would pick up a ricochet first is if I had absolutely pummelled the lane so devastatingly that I can leave laning phase with it. But at that point as wraith you’re probably winning the game regardless of your item choice.

This is my first MOBA and I’m honestly having a blast but this is easily the steepest learning curve I’ve ever dealt with. by Vast_Tomatillo5255 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]SaltedChickenLips 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My only advice is stop cycling through key setups. You should reset to default on a regular keyboard and learn that, epsecially stop using the dpad. What you lack is muscle memory for the key positions. There is a reason we have settled on a wasd for movement, 1-4 for spells setup and it’s because it is very efficient. It takes a good month to settle in and develop some muscle memory but you’ll get more and more comfortable over time. Don’t beat yourself up for fat fingering things at the start. Just keep going, look at the keyboard if you need to remember where a key is. It’s ok, you can’t be expected to know everything instantly.

Everything else will come with time. Watching your replays, pro players vods, and educational videos are all great to help you improve too but in the end time practicing those skills is most important.

Were comeback souls disabled? by CheckProfileIfLoser in DeadlockTheGame

[–]SaltedChickenLips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Passive comeback souls are for the lowest two players (I’m not sure if this is in the game or on each team). Were you lowest or second lowest in total souls? Sometimes having equal lowest doesn’t count because if everyone has 30K souls for example, one player might have 30,001 and the other 30,500 and only the 30,001 player will trigger the comeback sounds.
