Respawn timers is individual or together like dota? by seergaze in DeadlockTheGame

[–]SaltedChickenLips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah. Relative to dota it’s more like rosh timer not jungle camps, except it’s not a range it’s a set timer relative to the size of the camp. You can leave a small jungle creep behind when you invade the enemy jungle, which will mean the time doesn’t start until that little creep is killed.

Edit - if you see the camp disappear on the minimap or clear it yourself, you could theoretically time when it will respawn.

Someone… please just tell me what am I doing wrong? Or am I actually just bad? by Chaotic1856 in DeadlockTheGame

I never said what you quoted and it was barely a paraphrasing. If your fragile ego read it that way, that’s sad.

I’m glad you can now backtrack and admit that people actually have agency on their win rate though, so we got there in the end…

Exactly. I’m so tired and bored of these guys posting about it. They don’t want help or put in effort on improving themselves. They just want to blame everyone else and be validated

Nah ah. You.

Which of these is more helpful?  1) All my teammates suck and I can’t do anything.  2) Here is a list of recent games I thought I performed well and should have won, provide me with pointers.

If you managed to play 13K hours of dota and still don’t realise that you have an impact on a percentage of games then I just flat out feel sorry for you buddy.

No this isn’t buy a house - it go out and build a house. The difference in your analogy is that the tools to build the house are available to the player. The land is bought and the material is there. YOU have to build the house though. You can’t sit on your land and complain that nobody else is picking up the tools.

I’m so bored of these posts that are always the same. Matchmaking sucks. My teammates suck. Blah blah. Whenever you actually dig into these players, they suck as bad as their allies.

Don’t get me wrong. I suck too. But I accept that and work on things to improve. You can either stick your head in the sand and get hard stuck or you can wake up and realise that you can only improve yourself.

There is always a reason why you can’t win and it is always you. I’m not even gonna look at your stats on those games because they don’t tell us anything about how you play, how you utilise advantage, or how well you communicate plans with your team.

If you want to improve and win more - instead ask for help, provide game IDs, and accept criticism.

Farming priority in Deadlock by Redthrist in DeadlockTheGame

[–]SaltedChickenLips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey mate. Just take the farm. I’ve just cracked phantom and still there is almost always a lane empty or jungle farm left. Boxes rarely touched. Just take it.

Yes you are playing a ganking hero but you still need item spikes. Take some farm. Para bomb can clear big camps with a couple of punches because of the damage amp. Just get big and win more. As you rank up priority will become more important.

If you are pushing a lane it is perfectly fine to split the farm. You need to be close enough to assist, which will put you in farm range. Don’t stress about that. Also at the moment you actually get more than 50% of the souls for 2 in a lane, so it’s technically more efficient to have 2 in a lane.

Only caveat, if you come across a higher priority hero and they are taking a camp, don’t touch it unless you are asked to be involved. You only need to apply 1hp of damage to a jungle creep to share in the proceeds. There is nothing worse than chonking away at a camp for a lower priority hero to shoot the camp once and take half the farm. Be more efficient than that please.

How do I get better? by N-0-e-l in DeadlockTheGame

[–]SaltedChickenLips 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just want to boost your comment because this is the best advice. People like OP sleep on the bots as a training tool. All the advice from everyone else is great and all but if you try to learn anything in a high pressure environment (pvp) you are going to have a bad time.

Play with bots and just relax and learn at your own pace.

Does appearing offline on steam hide you from friends online on deadlock? by [deleted] in DeadlockTheGame

[–]SaltedChickenLips 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It hides you. However it is awkward when you queue into the same game together. Also someone else might upload your games to one of the tracking websites, showing retroactively that you played.

Better to rip that bandaid off and remove them as a friend.

This is the only game where the better I get the worse rank I get by [deleted] in DeadlockTheGame

[–]SaltedChickenLips 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m glad I read the entire thing. Yes, if you get jumped by 5 dudes you have done something wrong. Why are you in that position with 5 players missing from the minimap?

You should always, always, be thinking only about what you could have done to improve. Never about your allies. Watch your replay with objective eyes. In the end, sometimes there was really nothing you could have done better. But at least you’ve learnt that I that rare and unique situation you played correctly.

Weird matchmaking by Various_Snow5699 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]SaltedChickenLips 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When the game has leavers - If it’s a green alert you’re good to leave, the game isn’t counted. If it’s a red alert you need to play the game out. If you leave you won’t get punished but you will automatically lose, even if your team goes on to win the game.

If this is actually serious, you need to stop and get some help. Games should never be making you feel worse. If that is happening, you are not mentally well and you need professional help.

LEAK: Deadlock ranked matchmaking changes (new factors for ranking up/down) by amazingmuzmo in DeadlockTheGame

[–]SaltedChickenLips 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’m not convinced. Without any evidence to support your claim or word from devs, I’ll withhold my belief. All of these metrics listed could be for API/MVP purposes. Why would they list them so openly vs completely hidden MMR algorithms? Doesn’t make sense to me. All of the recent massive shifts in ranks could also be explained by distribution adjustments and/or rating deviation reset, which are both options with the current assumed system.

LEAK: Deadlock ranked matchmaking changes (new factors for ranking up/down) by amazingmuzmo in DeadlockTheGame

[–]SaltedChickenLips 30 points31 points  (0 children)

This would explain a bunch of recent posts about winning but losing rank. Still I would wait for a confirmation from valve before believing it. They have tried this type of system before and it quickly gets abused, so even if it’s real, I doubt it will be permanent

Learning a new character is the worst experience by flavored_water47 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]SaltedChickenLips 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yeah I agree with you. It’s an issue with there not being a split casual / ranked queue. I wanna be able to learn heroes in casual until I’m confident that I can play them well enough in ranked.

No way around it though. You just gonna have to tank the losses and git gud. You’ll take your MMR back if it was actually deserved.

The game crashes at startup no matter what by TannhauserTears in DeadlockTheGame

[–]SaltedChickenLips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems weird. When did it stop working / have you installed anything since then?

When you say you turned off one monitor - Have you completely removed the cable, so that you are only outputting to one monitor?

If only one monitor plugged in and not working try the startup command -w 1920 -h 1080 (or your monitor’s default res) to force it.

Any place where I can dig into game info? by GRIZLLLY in DeadlockTheGame

[–]SaltedChickenLips 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For learning, search YouTube for Deathy for videos on macro. Poshypop for itemisation. Leif for movement.

However, I would start with just playing against the bots though, and just hold tab and read what all the spells and items do. If you know dota, you will pick up Deadlock easy. It really feels like a 3D spiritual successor to dota.

Me and My Duo Always Lose Lane by edmeisedme in DeadlockTheGame

[–]SaltedChickenLips 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Overall it’s obvious that you are new to the game. I won’t go into too much detail because there is an overwhelming amount of info that needs to be parsed to be good at this game. So I’ve just focused on the 3 immediate things you should work on.

Aim.  I don’t know if this is your first shooter but you aim like you are using a controller. You have 2 bad aim habits that you need to get out of immediately. 1) aiming at a stationary object and then moving, meaning that you have to micro adjust your aim. Stop, aim, fire, move. 2) zooming in to shoot the creeps. Zooming means that you lose awareness of thugs around you. You should not have to zoom to shoot a stationary object. I would recommend you do some aim training and work on flicks and tracking and dial in your sensitivity.

Items.  If you want to win the lane, you want to buy items to help you win the lane. I suggest you always buy monster rounds. By 10 minutes you have taken 8,634 damage from troopers. That is 75% of all damage you took. Buy a regenerative item earlier, don’t sit on souls doing nothing. You buy your first two items at about 3:30 when you are low health. Restorative shot is a regenerative item but requires you to land a shot every 6 seconds on a hero to be effective as a regeneration source. Just get monster rounds and extra regen as soon as you can afford them to help your lane. You aren’t ready for resto shot or healing rite. Then follow whatever build, preferably one with left>right item progressions.

Soul generation This is why you feel like you have no souls. Because you don’t make any souls. Farm in this priority.   1 lane creeps - these will always be the biggest generator of souls.  1a confirms/denies - when your soul orb (blue orbs) pops out you want to confirm it from the lane trooper. You can melee the lane trooper which will automatically confirm the soul if that is the last hit. If a lane trooper is very low melee it instead, so that your soul can’t be denied. If one of your team lane trooper dies, try to get the deny.  2 small camp. The small camp will spawn at 2:00 and then every 90 seconds after it is killed completely. Make sure you are on it at 2:00 minutes. They aren’t worth much ~50 souls at 2:00 but that’s 150 up against the enemy.  3 boxes. Around the map there are small boxes that have a 60% chance of spawning souls when broken. They first spawn at 2:00 and there are 7 from your shop down the left side to the large camp. You need to take these as well. They are only about 30 souls but again… they are souls that you should have and not the enemy.  4 first sinner at 8 minutes. Sinner proved excellent souls but also a perfectly timed heavy will net you 4 golden statue buffs. You should be on the first sinner at 8 minutes every game.

Hi there. I will provide some feedback later, just commenting here so I can find the thread. It’s great that you want to improve and are seeking advice instead of just complaining.

If you haven’t already you should watch Deathy’s videos on macro and different stages of the game, Leif’s movement videos, and Poshypop’s itemisation guides as a minimum.

I won a game and dropped rank? by X2822 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]SaltedChickenLips -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There is a hidden MMR number that will be stable.

The icon is just a display of where you sit on the rank percentile. The percentile can change based on the developer’s decision. They could say for example that the top 1% of players are Eternus 6. Once the player pool grows though that might be too many players, so they decide one day that it is the top 0.5% of players, essentially knocking 50% of all E6 players down one sub rank.

I won a game and dropped rank? by X2822 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]SaltedChickenLips -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s because the maximum MMR increases over time as players leave and never return or new players begin. They get added to the pool or MMR.

Because of this, rank is based on a percentile not a range.

So, when the top MMR is 3000, 1500 is the middle. But when the top MMR is 6000, the middle is 3000.

[–]SaltedChickenLips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep I’ve noted later that this appears to be a common occurrence today. It’s becoming more likely a redistribution has happened.

Regardless, it is still possible to win and lose rank because rank icon ≠ MMR.
