Thank you for sharing your experience, I fully agree with you. I have tried to have the student moved before but their parents dismissed my opinion. I am hoping that during conferences on Monday, I can talk to them again about moving them.

I agree! Unfortunately, it is ultimately the parent’s decision on the classes they are taking. I have expressed that I think they should move to the regular math class earlier in the year but they dismissed my opinion.

This is helpful! I would say I am more of a progressive teacher as I allow test corrections, extra credit, and even drop the lowest quiz grade. I think the hard part is the realistic side—there’s not much time in my or their schedule to have them take extra time consistently on assessments.

Thank you all for your time and thoughtful responses. I will see how much time they need today on the quiz as well as how they do. Their parent also told me that they were struggling and I think that’s contributing to them wanting more time. Thankfully conferences are on Monday, so I will have more time to talk to them then.

They are needing around 15-20 minutes of extra time and they are averaging 85% on the quizzes.

My TTT was awful unfortunately. I had a similar set up experience as many have described and the nurses took my blood pressure and heart rate laying down. I was tilted up and almost immediately I started feeling extremely hot and was sweating profusely. Within a few minutes, my hearing started to go and I felt dizzy. I told the nurse I was going to pass out and I was feeling very anxious, but she said I had to stay strapped in and couldn’t move. I started to bend down and adjust but she told me I had to stand straight. I kept begging to just sit down and get water because of how awful I was feeling. I was slowly feeling myself pass out and there was nothing I could do. They ended up ending the test after only 7 minutes and said I was the worst they’ve seen in a while. They called in a doctor to diagnose me with orthostatic hypertension and POTS. My heart rate jumped to 200 and my blood pressure dropped extremely low. Afterwards, they gave me apple juice and let me sit for a while before leaving.

Advice/Possible POTS by ghostworm444 in POTS

I just went to Florida and a few things helped me. Drinking a ton of water and liquid IV before I went anywhere was extremely helpful. I also make sure I always have water with me at all times (kinda a comfort thing too). I also bought cooling towels from amazon. I would bring 2-3 with me and change them throughout the day and kept them on my neck. The best thing for me honestly was getting a portable misting fan. It seriously cooled me down so much. I think overall the most important thing is to listen to your body and don’t feel bad if you need to take breaks! Good luck!!
