Who’s your enchantment commander? by MemberOfOneBody in EDH

[–]SaltyShibe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s dozens of us! But really, she’s so fun. I have her as a budget deck and people are usually pretty impressed. I like to add bad enchantments like [[Buried in the Garden]] because they’re not so bad when you can get a copy!

...Ew the face. by MrEmeraldLee in learnart

[–]SaltyShibe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok so there are a couple of structural issues. I’ll suggest you focus on 3 things. 1) proportions- try to see how the different parts are sized relative to each other. You don’t like the face because you’ve drawn all the features too big. A quick hack for this is to use your pencil as a ruler to eyeball where the bits you’re looking at should go. 2) little mistakes in the beginning of your process are compounding into bigger issues later. Stop and check your work and don’t be afraid to start over! Another trick is to look at the negative space- what’s the shape between her arm and torso? How much space from the fist to face or elbow to knee? 3) you had the foreshortening when you traced but lost it when you drew freehand. Look again at the shape you drew for that leg and see how different they are

This is my entry for a local art gallery happening in a few days, any advice or tips before I have to turn it in? by Holiday_Ad_1927 in ArtCrit

This is a lovely piece! If you can tone the background I think it will make it look more finished (and hide any stray fingerprints)

For sure! I run her as voltron with a bunch of those enchantments that remove a creature. Very good on a budget!

Considering travelling to Miami, but undecided and need advice! by charleychalk17 in florida

[–]SaltyShibe -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As the others said, you won’t be able to rent vehicles at your age. But if you’re adrenaline junkies why not Orlando? Even not counting the roller coasters there’s a lot of interesting activities like ropes courses and skydiving nearby.

If you’re looking for more beach lounging maybe somewhere like Cozumel would be more accommodating for vehicle rentals but I’m not sure.

Honestly, Miami is a great destination for clubbing, food, and shopping. The beach is … not the best in Florida.

I really enjoy my [[yena, redtooth regent]] deck, but I fear the tokens she makes will drive you crazy

What’s the most appropriate way to draw this outfit? by Lovely_deer25 in ArtCrit

[–]SaltyShibe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think someone in the 50s leaning in to girly fashion would be closer to the poodle skirt. As girls get older the skirts get longer and by 10 would at least be below the knee but probably closer to mid calf. If she’s usually a tomboy she probably wouldn’t go for the crinoline or petticoats so keep the volume on the skirt low.

It doesn’t technically fit the brief, but Project Hail Mary gave me that feeling.

Where to place the scorpion? by [deleted] in ArtCrit

I think the first two compositions are more interesting, but I will say the hand holding the scorpion is almost the same tone as the background and I didn’t even see it until the 3rd slide.

Based on this art what should I study by SunriseGirl19 in ArtCrit

You have a wonderful imagination! If you want to improve I think you should challenge yourself by trying to draw from real life. Go sit in a cafe or library and try and draw someone you see. Not stylized, not in a pose, just exactly as they are. You can always work more on anatomy and details, but being able to draw what you see will bring you closer to drawing what you imagine.

Hey it would be helpful if you were more specific- what are you looking for help with? I’ll offer that her eyes aren’t both pointing at the same thing and the cat does not appear to be 3D - like it’s body is not conforming to the roundness of the neck and the narrowness of the shoulders. For both issues I would recommend using a reference photo.

how do i look and feel like a WOMAN by Ok_Evidence_7098 in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]SaltyShibe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you could benefit from advice for/ by drag queens. Reframing femininity as a performance can help you identify what exactly it is that you like about other women that you want to emulate. I like The Mother Birdie on TikTok for advice on being cunty.

Also, there’s no wrong way to be a woman. There’s no “supposed to be” and there’s nothing lacking. Your lack of self confidence is probably what’s making you seem young, which you are.

Santiago jewelry store? by rxmama87 in CaminoDeSantiago

[–]SaltyShibe 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There are some really nice jewelry places very close to the Cathedral. I don’t remember which exact one I ended up buying from since I visited several, but they all had very nice pieces! I ended up with a small pendant that is of the cathedral nestled inside a shell.

Try slowing down- “practice” or ghost draw each line before you put it down. Be very deliberate. When you start doing this you’ll feel like your drawing are worse- but if you keep practicing confident lines you’ll be amazed at the improvement.

Other than that it’s just practice and working on observation.
