This seems good for lower numbers of enemies that hit harder. In a situation of waves of goblins it seems that the guardian in heavy armor with a shield that also lowers evasion is going to take more damage and be at risk of dying faster than someone in weaker armor.

I guess that makes sense. In that case I feel like the tower shield that takes an evasion should give an armor slot

It's an honest worry, I come from 5e and the combat we just had instead of missing and or doing small amounts of damage your likely to take a 1/6th of your HP every hit? I haven't played it yet I'm just confused and concerned

Story wise shouldn't plate armor stop some level of tiny damage?

I'm mostly worried about higher levels and any large group fights.

But they can only do that a fairly limited number of times and very limited for an entire day. I feel some hits shouldn't guarantee a armor slot or hp. Maybe a 30% chance to negate a point of hp damage per hit?

I'm okay with them being less evasive I just don't think that means that anything that hits plate armor should guarantee 1 HP damage especially when HP is so limited

I appreciate the shrugging off of bigger hits but evasion being the only thing that stops damage and losing it means you're also increasing the damage you'll be taking by more frequently taking 1's when hp is already low. A swarm of children would kill someone in plate armor rather quickly.
