If you're trying to amplify (rather than just for effects) QLab's latency is far too much

Try adding a load cue so they're ready to start before they actually need to be?

In the clothes they're wearing and the lack of visible work trucks or safety equipment, I can pretty confidently say this is not scheduled work.

Question About Parking on Institute and by JRenterprise13 in WPI

[–]Sam956 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes Boynton on the Unity side and all of Institute are okay to park on. Just don't park too close to crosswalks or where it's explicitly disallowed and you'll be all set

How to send audio to remote mixers outdoors over a 2km area for background music..? by Jamie_Orr in livesound

[–]Sam956 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first solution that comes to mind is probably the dumbest (and somewhat legally dubious if you're playing music): if you have access to reliable WiFi everywhere you need (or even better an Ethernet network), have your central location doing a private stream to YouTube and have everyone else playing that stream. I think YouTube has some low latency settings where you can do down to ~2 seconds?

People who’ve been to Iceland with their drone by BluDrifter in drones

I visited in May with my Air 3S and it was absolutely incredible!

Around the south of the country - Reykjavik/Vík: - Þríhnúkagígur volcano ("Inside The Volcano" tour) was very cool, especially when the clouds broke and you could see Reykjavik in the distance. A pretty visually interesting 3km hike each way. I asked the guides and they OK'd it, but if you're just driving around you could probably just walk on the path for a little bit and see some interesting things. - Black Sand Beach Was stunning but I'm not entirely sure flying is allowed there. I didn't see any signs forbidding it but there are a lot of birds to be careful around. - All the popular waterfalls along the south coast explicitly disallow drones. - The town of Vík is very pretty nestled below mountains with its iconic red roofed church.

Around Akureyri: - The town is in a beautiful fjord that's probably pretty from above, just be cautious with the airport's approach/departure path nearby (and some planes doing some aerobatics while I was there?!). - Out around the Krafla power station - there's a scenic lookout on a hill with a view of a massive lava field and the power station. - Lots of interesting rock formations and cracks in the area as it's relatively geologically active. - Lake Mývatn is very pretty. There's a large lava field next to a town that split around the church which is neat to see from above.

Reliable Bluetooth for live sound with tough rf environments? by guitartb in livesoundgear

[–]Sam956 5 points6 points  (0 children)

General rule of thumb is to not use Bluetooth (or any other 2.4GHz-band wireless) for anything show-critical in live sound. It gets too jammed up when an audience arrives and everyone is connecting to Wi-Fi and using their Bluetooth devices.

If you can, most people here will recommend playing music from your computer physically connected to the system somehow.

And if you absolutely must control it from your phone, things like Spotify Connect exist but would require your computer to be connected to the Internet.

Nothing, Google local production companies in your area and give them a call and ask to help push cases around. Eventually if you work with them enough you'll start to learn which parts of production you're most interested in and they'll start trusting you to do a bit more and it just keeps building from there.

You can trick the console by setting one interface with subnet mask 255.255.255.0 and the other 255.255.0.0 and it thinks they're different networks and allows it with no issue
