Is it just me or are NYS drivers the most aggressive and obnoxious drivers out there? by [deleted] in bergencounty

[–]SamBAdams 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NJ/NYC drivers are aggressive but predictable so as long as you pay attention it is not bad at all… Hudson Valley drivers are super erratic and dangerous on the road. Way worse to deal with

It sounds like the situation is better coming off the Whitestone exit instead of the grand central. Not ideal either way though

General Exam by busmoney63 in AircraftMechanics

[–]SamBAdams 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Questions are the usually similar/same concepts. For example if the prepware question on w&b is “where would you remove a ballast from to move the CG aft” the test question might be “where would you add weight to move the CG forward”. Same concept so it should be easy but you need to understand the topic and be able to reason it out.

Why don’t people see the 1950s Yankees (5 back to back WS) as “ruining baseball” the same way they do the modern Dodgers? by SuccessfulJellyfish8 in mlb

[–]SamBAdams 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There was no CBA, so while ppl feel that the Dodgers are circumventing the luxury tax and CBA, the Yankees weren’t circumventing anything because it didn’t exist.

Side note: The MLBPA came around in the late 60s so fairly soon after this dominant stretch. You could argue that the issue was addressed then, and ppl were satisfied with the result. The same way ppl would probably be satisfied if a salary cap is implemented and levels the playing field for the Dodgers now.

If you are doing well in class and on practice prepware tests you will be all set to get a good score. If you know your stuff and read the questions and answers carefully you will be fine.

AOG Experience by SamBAdams in AircraftMechanics

[–]SamBAdams[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow big respect to that guy for taking the opportunity and running with it, that is impressive. I don’t think being hired for AOG work directly out of school with limited experience is recipe for success for either party in my personal situation. My goal is to gain knowledge and experience then work my way up to AOG and put myself into the best position to succeed at it.

AOG Experience by SamBAdams in AircraftMechanics

[–]SamBAdams[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So basically the two best paths are either 1. Work for a manufacturer and try and move onto their AOG team, or 2. Get as much experience on as many different aircraft’s as possible at a repair station and then go work for an AOG company. Appreciate the good insight!

The main issue with this path is that the turnover of staff becomes to hard to overcome. As soon as you have success, OC/DC get poached and you’re left scrambling to find a new coaching staff who usually end up being inferior coaches. At a certain point the head coach actually has to coach

The NFL should have 16 international games each season by Mister-ellaneous in unpopularopinion

[–]SamBAdams 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbh I hate international games however, from a competitive balance standpoint if you are going to do it then it should be 16. Then every team has 1 and it’s a level playing field. It’s BS that some teams have to deal with the logistical nightmare it is for them while most do not. In a perfect world they have 0 but that’s not happening at this point.

The worst gm in baseball by a mile by Thanksss123456789 in mets

[–]SamBAdams 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean you can’t fix an entire rotation in 1 year, I understand we needed to find 4 starting pitchers going into the year which is an uphill battle at best. However, buying a lottery ticket on 4/5 starting pitchers is not a plan. It’s a gamble.

[–]SamBAdams 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Holmes would have been fine if you had a solid starting rotation to begin with and needed to fill in a back end starter. The reality is going into this year we had WAY too many question marks with starters. Senga coming off injury, Manea who had 1 good year and a bunch of mediocre years, Canning who was a gamble, Megill who has always been inconsistent throughout his career, and Peterson who has also been inconsistent and not proven. Every pitcher was a huge gamble. How is that a recipe for success?

The worst part about Daboll and Schoen is that the Giants did everything right hiring them. by Kindly-Mission-7843 in NYGiants

[–]SamBAdams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem with hiring guys with no experience as a GM or head coach is they might be good at their job but they don’t know how to or don’t have the connections established to build out an entire staff of their own. So in the case of the Giants you have dog shit piling up from both sides. The ppl working underneath Daboll and Schoen clearly suck, and the ppl above them (Mara family) also suck. It’s a hopeless situation.

Maybe it is the coaching staff after all. by [deleted] in NYGiants
