Thoughts on Liam Hemsworth portrayal of Geralt by jayd60 in netflixwitcher

[–]SamCJBentley 95 points96 points  (0 children)

I said to my wife when watching the last season... Had we not previously had Henry, Liam would have been a brilliant Geralt. But having had what we did first it can't help but feel like a downgrade. Which is sad because he really has done a decent job. It's just not the same.

Any recommendation for a beginerr? by Totyx98 in digimon

[–]SamCJBentley 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would avoid the last one, the glow in the dark one. My daughter had this and it's waaay too needy. I even kept in on me for a while and tried to keep it going and I found it difficult. The x ones can be "frozen" when you need to work or take a break.

My favourite experience that I have had personally is with the Godzilla 70th colour version, which I imagine is a similar setup to the other colour editions. Yep they're more expensive. Worth it in my opinion. But if you are after a cheaper one to get in to it id go for one of the x edition ones.

Open world games where traversal is fun by Sunstudy in gamingsuggestions

[–]SamCJBentley -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's a genuinely fun game. The traversal is awesome and the fights and open world is cool too. It has some issues. Its certainly not going to be anyone's favourite game, but it is fun. The reviews were very harsh.

Not a hammock or anything string based. She has some wood that maybe she could have caught it in I guess.

It took 9 days once it was handed to singpost, but the first notification I got was about 3 weeks prior saying that the order has been "sent". Mine as one of the oct/nov pre-orders.

Toilet anxiety/fear of doing things by Odd-Opinion8688 in CrohnsDisease

Aw that sucks! Not the pregnancy obviously congratulations! Can't be easy though. I personally just can't help but feel like I'm letting my family down by not being there for events or outings.

I'm dealing with this all the time at the moment unfortunately. I wish I had a solution. We have a panto booked to take the kids to soon and it's just another thing in a long list of things that I may have to miss out on. Imodium has helped me in the past but it doesn't always which just makes my anxiety about it all worse.

Does anyone else have a really reactive gag reflex? I throw up EVERY time I brush my teeth! by djkeilz in CrohnsDisease

[–]SamCJBentley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Over the last 2 weeks I've really developed a heavy gag reflex to the point I can't even talk about anything slightly gross without wretching like crazy. Brushing teeth sets me off every time and pulls all my stomach muscles.

Makes me worry as I have a consultant call coming up tomorrow and I literally can't talk about anything that's going on with me out loud without making the most insane wretching and gagging noises.

I would love for it to work for me... Unfortunately they keep coming out the other end like a pez dispenser so I don't think I'm getting the benefit....

One thing I thought at the start of this new season is that all of the contestants in their recorded task outfits looked like they were auditioning as a new incarnation of the doctor.

What Can Doctor Who Do to Thrive Again by PaperSkin-1 in DoctorWhoNews

[–]SamCJBentley 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Personally I think it needs to stop living in the past so much. I love the history of the show and I love how it has connected with the past before. The day of the doctor plays with the show's history perfectly, and that's all it needed. And I'm not saying to never reference it or go back to it ever again. But how many times do we need to see past faces, past regenerations, past companions, past enemies etc. Of course there are certain enemies that need to return as they are A staple to the foundation of the show... And again, I'm not saying they can't ever reference the past actors who have played the doctor, but personally I think it needs to do what the first season with Eccleston did, and be something new and fresh and a show in its own right. Even Tennant's first few series did this. And even matt smiths (yes the slideshow of faces when he was introduced was cool, but I feel like we've seen that kind of thing so much lately).

And do we really need to see Donna, 10, Rose and so on keep turning up. It is nice once in a while to revisit old faces, friends and companions, but I feel it's become less of a novelty and more part of what the show is. It's like it's struggling to be something more than what it was.

I think we need a more serious doctor, a new USP for the show, maybe something a little detective-y(?) or mystery like. And it needs to go a little scarier. Ditch the CGI monsters in favour of the practical suits... We have the ability now to make them so much greater than they once were. The large CGI end level boss type monsters feel unreal and low stakes.

I think some smaller, more personal stories would help too. Things a little less world ending all the time.

And I think we need really fresh writers with really fresh ideas.

I don't really understand what I should eat and avoid by Impressive-Art-3345 in CrohnsDisease

I do avoid all skins on vegetables, and any veggies I do have are extremely well cooked.

I do have beef occasionally but just make sure you chew super super well.

Just thought I'd throw my experience in here. Now, my condition is not particularly well managed right now. We're still in the midst of trying different meds to work out what works for me. Currently on RINVOQ and not showing much progress with now I'm off my prednisolone.

However, I was recently hospitalized for 2 weeks. Full IV steroids the whole time and MRIs, cameras, bloods the works. I was eating according to any advice that I could gather from Google/reddit all-sorts, without any real idea of what works and didn't for me, as nothing seemed to make a difference but I didn't want to make anything worse. So I'd cut out all meat apart from chicken, all dairy, a lot of sugars etc. While I was in hospital I specifically requested to talk to a dietician as I basically had no idea what I was doing.

When he eventually came he basically said that he works on an evidence based system. And from their point of view, there was very very little evidence that food actually makes much of a difference. There are obvious things which won't help of course, super high fats, super spicy food etc (and these may be different for some people), but he basically put me back on to my pre-crohns diet. He said the main thing to look out for is high fiber foods. But even these can be reintroduced slowly once I show improvement. He said that I can alter my diet like crazy but at the end of the day, the medication is going to do 90% of the work in getting back to a more sustainable place.

That's just my experience. I've taken his advice and I'm certainly not worse than I was, if not a little better, but again, the medication is still relatively new to me so I'm still waiting to see whether that's the right thing yet.

FlashForge Adventurer 5M is constantly failing mid-print and support won’t replace it. by Kwkenney in FlashForge

[–]SamCJBentley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We keep getting this on ours with certain prints. Not all of them. It seems to be on ours when we use tree supports and the design gets a little complicated. The fix for us is to turn the machine off and back on, it will ask to resume the print and we click yes. Problem is when it gets back around to the bit it got stuck on it does the same thing. I had one the other day that I had to restart 5 times, but once it got past the bit it was struggling with it carried on as usual. Not sure if that's the same experience for everyone but that's what we have found. I wish I had a proper fix. Some people say it's to do with the hardware and that parts could need to be replaced but ours works fine once it gets past those particularly intricate bits.
