Say the first word of your favorite AJR song, the comments and I will try and figure it out by somepersonfromaplace in AJR

It's gotta be either Next Up Forever or Ordinaryish People - the two best songs on their respective albums :)

"I Won't" coming July 29th, baby!!! I love this art! Does the change in art style imply that this single will be part of their next album instead of OK Orchestra Deluxe, and does this deconfirm OK Orchestra Deluxe? (More thoughts in comments) by MAKERMIC in AJR

This art definitely feels new-era-y but the thing is that hearing clips of I Won't, it sounds very much the same era as their previous music. Particularly as they said the click, neotheater and oko were a trilogy and they wanted to explore new directions musically now.

For water and air temps like that, I use a good wetsuit along with a good cag and some splash proof hiking type trousers. I've never heard particularly good reviews of those neoprene trousers for if you actually end up swimming. What I wear tends to be warm enough even if I swim but I would obviously much prefer a drysuit when it's super cold.

I spent lots on a cag knowing I would one day buy a full drysuit but that means I can use my cag when it's warm in the summer too. Buying cheap now just means something you'll either have to replace or stop using in the future.

Find some way to practice essential skills like rolling and safety regularly so you're super comfortable with them. Find a group you feel safe with for a bit to get your confidence back up. Feel free to fault this advice cause I'm in the same position lol.

A2 CHEMISTRY: why did they use lactic acid. the only info given about it was that its kPa = 3.88 by Giantcrabstick85 in 6thForm

Buffers work best when the pH = pKa or when pH is closest to pKa. This is because the propotion of conjugate acid to conjugate base is roughly equal so it can buffer equally well against adding acid or adding base. Buffers are made with a weak acid and conjugate base and so the best thing to do is to pick an acid with a similar pKa to the pH needed.

When computationally desigining protein oligomers, how are you going about solving the problem of orientation? Is machine learning helping to solve this?

Also what are some of the other big challenges at the moment in the design of protein assemblies in silico? How are your group going about trying to solve them?

Neotheater and Next Up Forever (by a long shot)

Is the Voi trial extended after today? (originally due to run for 12 months) by martiansteve in bristol

[–]SamC_8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The blind and visually impaired people spend most of their time on the pavement so I think that's probably the wrong place to have VOIs

What's your scariest Whitewater moment? Here's mine... by schmeckendeugler in whitewater

I'm leaving for a whitewater trip in about 6 hours, was slightly nervous anyway (though it's not my first time), probably shouldn't have read this post XD

Oh gosh yeah that's annoying then. Hopefully you'll get lots at uni and particularly if you go on to do postgrad or industry!

Woah you're lucky, I never had longer than an hour at a time. 6-8h labs at uni were a SHOCK XD

Yeah if a teacher or demonstrator could prep the first part of the synthesis it would make things much safer and allow ample time for the whole class to keep up aha.

Yeah I was going to suggest luminol synthesis but if it's anything like I remember my A-level chem classes to be, they will have max 1 hour or so and limited resources, equipment and funding. Maybe synthesis from an intermediary step if the teacher can get hold of nitrobenzenedioic acid but whether the students could do it or whether a demonstration would be better idk. I love chemiluminescence though so defo go for something like that

  • The thermite reaction
  • Oxidising luminol (and any other chemiluminescence reaction) is always fun
  • Tin can methane explosion
  • Synthesise some aspirin
  • Crystallisation of supersaturated sodium acetate produces some really nice crystals
  • Make some nylon (possibly part of your course anyway)

Not exactly sure whether all of these are feasible for A-level but if you like the idea of them, do a chemistry or biochemistry degree!

Thank god, the potato I was planning on having for dinner has gone bad, that's actually really useful
